The opening day was a mess and showed no respect from IKEA to the general public. I made an order that never arrived and I'm not given an option by phone (the store does not exist at the IVR) So i'm supposed to return to the store. I may also say that IKEA personnel as well as security personnel bumped several times against the legs of my baby boy (who was in his stoller) Not even a single "i'm sorry" I expect more from a supposedly family friendly company, this is not the case of the MIAMI one. I will make a claim at my credit card company because I never received the delivery or been contacted by the store. Ever other review here is correct, unless you like chaos and bad signage you should probably drive to IKEA sunrise. It's just too crowded at the mia location, hough that's not ikeas fault. To give them some food credit , my compliments to the chief. The restaurant here served some delicious veggie meatballs in the clean, high celinged dining room. And they had a free robotics lego program on the day that I visited, that was cool. Looks like they are going to have other activities for kids in the future which is a nice idea. They EARN no stars! The service is horrible. There is several employees but no one willing to earn their wages. They walk around with the respond of "this is not my department". As for returning something, they had 2 employees working with a room full of people waiting to return things. I spoke to the manager and told him we had been waiting over 30 minutes and the staff had not called any numbers for next customer. His response was we have another employee coming in at 3 pm. Why are people so impressed with IKEA? Yes they have cheap prices but their designs are very limited and so-so, and the quality is kind of cheap. First of all, I always enjoy IKEA. Their layout of the store has always fascinated me in that it is so strategically laid out. Went for a couch at one point and was able to buy it. Took some time, maybe ten to fifteen minutes for the team to bring out my item. I also had a chance to eat at the cafeteria. This was a first to me but I actually really enjoyed it. There were a few options and it was fairly inexpensive. I enjoyed the meatballs(which I believe is their most popular or well known item), mashed potatoes, corn bread, and the chocolate cake. The meatballs were the best, and everything else was pretty good. It is definitely a cafeteria style though so someone cannot go expecting something incredibly outstanding. read more

While I normally would give Ikea 5-stars, you are better off driving the extra time to the Sunrise location. The people were obnoxious to say the least. I'm specifically referring to numerous people, but the late-twentyish guy spinning his cart of stuff around in the middle of the parking garage like it was a skateboard park really did it for me. I love the amount of products available at this store. Parking is incredibly easy. Prices are good. Quality is so-so. Customer Service is the worst. We wanted a shelving unit that was out of stock in the store. The employee said that they have it in Long Island and to call them. They didn't even give us a direct phone number. When we finally got through to the correct place, they told us that they don't ship their products. I don't know if that is only policy at IKEA Long Island, or across the board, but if it's across the board, they should certainly know that in Miami and not have sent us on a wild goose chase. If you are going to the Ikea in Miami do yourself a favor and avoid anyone related to customer service. They messed up my order so bad that it took me almost two weeks after I bought the furniture for them to fix their many insanely stupid mistakes they made in my order. DO NOT USE THE DELIVERY SERVICE! It has to be the WORST and most unhelpful thing I ever dealt with regarding IKEA. Not only to schedule it takes a while of your already long ikea day, but the company they use, XPO Logistics, is the most uncaring and RUDE people you will ever deal. Hey play the blame game with ikea(which also is one of those corporations you have to call a billion numbers to speak with someone in other state and end up never speaking with the store you actually dealt with). Apparently they give you a phone call telling you a window period of when they'll arrive only for them to never actually come. That call is complete bogus and made by "IKEA" when XPO has yet to actually receive your stuff. If that happens, good luck trying to find the truth from anyone until you speak with the RUDE XPO-IKEA department. It's been over 24 hours after I was supposed to get my delivery and I have yet to actually get an idea of where my merchandise actually is. I am also giving this store a 1 Star because I went on a Saturday (weekend and super busy) and waited over 30 min to check out because they only had 3 lanes open. The lines were ridiculous. Also the Self Serve Staff need more coffee. They treated me, my mother and everyone who I saw coming to ask for help like we were a bother instead of customers in need of help. I've been three times since its opened, and my house reflects it!! so many fun goodies- wrapping paper, funky paper napkins, frames, rug, towels, plants. it's such a fun place to shop and makes you re-think your existing decor/style! makes you want to reorganize your life! I always arrive right at 10am, park in front on 117th ave-although the garage is a breeze too- and go right in. you can skip the escalator to the 2nd floor showroom and head straight through the double doors into the market place. read more

When you mention the name IKEA, most people either absolutely love it or hate it. I happen to belong to the former group. That being said, a visit to this place is never a quick one but I love it every time. Their showroom is so extensive that I'm never at a loss for different ideas and gadgets to organize living spaces in a uniquely modern and creative way. Also, their prices are just right for the quality of merchandise. In case you get hungry after lingering through their showroom for so long, you can grab a bite to eat at their cafeteria style restaurant which has pretty decent selections. The real fun of IKEA, however, begins when you bring your goodies home and assemble them. As my better half says, it's like giant legos for adults. Having to assemble their own furniture is one of the things about IKEA that people either love or hate and we absolutely love it in our home. I've never been to any other locations so I can't really compare but my only gripe about this candy land for adults is the actual checkout. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are usually few registers open and the lines can get quite long. That won't keep me from coming back though and if they could address that issue then they would be 5 star worthy in my book. read more

I went the other day to buy a carpet that was stated it was available online, went and found out there was none, so the staff gave me a number to call to have someone floor check for me the next day. So I called the number to have someone to do the floor check, they confirmed the thing I wanted was available, twice, so I rented the car to go all the way to the store and found out it was actually an inventory system error, but didn't someone go floor check for me? I've had multiple pleasant experiences at this ikea. A lot of my current furniture has been bought at this Ikea for example; my current dining room table was bought here a couple years ago. Their furniture is affordable, sturdy and purchases from this institution have always been exceptional due to their friendly customer service. You walk in and are instantaneously greeted with welcoming employees handing you yellow bags and asking if you need any assistance. Tonight, my friends and I were greeted with a snarky employee who wouldn't even let us into the building. He sized us up with an unwelcoming glare and asked if "we were buying anything." We were still in parking lot! We were planning on enjoying some ice cream at their food court but not necessarily buying furniture. Once we POLITELY told the worker our intentions he very rudely said we couldn't enter the store. He told us this because apparently there was another group of teenagers causing "trouble". My friend, shocked, then proceeded to let this employee know that we had just arrived and weren't associated with that group of kids. This employee then directly said we were with "the same fucking kids" then kicked us off the premises. His remarks were completely ageist and disrespectful. The way this employee delt with this "situation" was inappropriate and unprofessional in its entirety. Words cant describe how upset and infuriated i am with this Thursday opening at ikea lets just start by saying that it was extremely disorganized i arrived at an early time and was one of the first in the group. Ofcourse a sweetwater police officer announced that they would be towing cars therefore when i asked an ikea worker they stated that we could park in the garage and pointed out which way to go park at which was section j. I followed these instructions as i do always only to get yelled at by sweetwater police. As i stood in line i was the third in place cops began yelling they would arrest annyone skipping, running or pushing. I waited for them to give us tge go and marched right on to the entrance when mayhem broke. People began running cutting the line, running and shoving others.i ended up towards the end of the line.There were OLD PEOPLE in line who i witnessed being shoved pushed a lady even fell and scrapped her knee. Once again sweetwater cops were rutheless just stood there and watched letting people get shoved around. On top of that the cops were misinformed and were just thete for show providing no sense of security and demonstrating agression towards its citizens.Moreover, im extremely dissappointed at ikea for the disorganization of this event where i had to witness the elderly get shoved and people skipping line. I really try to avoid IKEA at all costs on the weekends. But my mom has been begging me to take her there. So I went ahead and gave in to her request. We got there early to avoid the Sunday crowd. Since the new Doral location opened, it's way better than making that hike to Sunrise. Parking was a breeze. Not too crowded at all. We came to buy a few items in the Marketplace. Sometimes it's not worth the trip for just a few items especially if you can find it elsewhere, more close to your home. But I can't resist their scented candles. Wide variety of aromas, and for a $1.79, can't beat the price. Similar kind in Publix for close to $5. But it is an adventure to come here. And you can really get great decorating ideas too. Definitely have a bite to eat while you're here. The food is pretty good and really cheap. Take your time here. There's so much to take in. The weekdays are less crowded. read more

IKEA is a mess. I bought a desk chair in the beginning of January and they still don't have the bottom part of the chair available. At first they told me that it would be there on the 14th. And I would try to call to see if it was there but IKEA hangs up the phone if all their employees are unavailable so that was useless. Then I checked online, it told me it was going to be available the next day. So I went to IKEA the next day and they still didn't have it. They said the shipping container was delayed and wasn't going to come till the weekend and then they gave me a number to call to check (I honestly don't know why they didn't give me the number in the first place because it would've saved me time and gas but whatever). Then I called on Saturday to see if it was available, and the employee it was going to be available on Wednesday or Thursday. 3 different employees, 3 different responses and the online information wasn't even accurate. So, I have no idea when it's going to be available. It's been weeks already. I don't even know why they only have the top part of the chair and not the bottom one in stock. This was the first time purchasing in IKEA and it makes me not want to buy anything from there unless all the pieces come together because why should I make a trip all the way to IKEA again just because their restocking is messy and don't have all the parts available at the same time. I would've rather them told me that they didn't have it instead of having only the top part of the chair laying in my room for weeks. read more

worst customer service I have ever received from any store. I went with my mom to buy a kitchen, we had our measurements and we were ready to buy. this place doesnt make appointments though, so you have to rely on a first come first serve system, but there are not enough people on the floor and the 2 people that were there were the rudest employees i have ever met. first off, they acted like they were doing me this huge favor when all i needed was a bit of guidance on how to use their computer system, and i am not by any means computer stupid. let me explain.... they have these computers set up with a program where you can select the lay out of your kitchen, you can then enter your measurements and select your cabinets as you put them in the right places taking your appliances into consideration. sounds simple enough i guess, but it was not. the program itself had bugs, and when i tried to input my measurements the program wouldnt take them. I also have an irregularly laid out kitchen which was not helping. so i asked for help, and received nothing but eye rolls and bad faces, i mean these people could honestly not be bothered to do their job. so i did what anyone would do if they spent an hour being ignored and then mistreated, i called a manager. so, some guy comes out to talk to us, i can only assume he was some sort of manager, but judging by his condescending attitude and poor treatment i now have my doubts. I mean how can a store make someone so unpleasant and condescending a manager? he basically told me in an almost mocking tone "if you want white glove service we offer that separate, we can schedule someone to come measure and design your kitchen." when i assured him i needed no such service because i had already measured my kitchen and i knew what the lay out would be, and i just needed to pick my cabinets, he insisted that i needed some type of white glove service, if not, he said i could use the computers to place my order. again, he's not listening, because that is what i needed help with to begin with, but he said they were busy and i would have to wait....mind you, i had been there for over an hour, way longer than anyone else on the floor, but i have to wait? so basically its first come first serve, unless you need legitimate help, in which case, get ready to be treated like youre an idiot. i never, and i mean NEVER, write on public forums, but i felt so disrespected and angry that i just had to do something....i had to get the word out. DO NOT BUY A KITCHEN FROM IKEA. i can also tell you that i do not anger easily, but being talked to like i am an idiot does not sit well with me. I am a well educated, well mannered individual, and i am a paying customer. i mean who do these people think they are?! do they think they have no competition for cheap cabinets? I came to the grand opening and was impressed by how the staff worked with customers and the courtesy shown to clientele in general. The store has thoughtful additions like hooks to place your shopping bags on while you're in the cafeteria and free lockers. This may be the remedy for most other stores that are as big as a football field and don't have as much as a bench for shoppers to sit on. (Seeing elderly people struggle in such places is one of my pet peeves.)They are so beyond average big box/large retailers in this respect--they will never just crassly take your money. read more

I had a pass for family and friends for Aug 23 and loved the store. I purchased a chair for my desk great value and easy to assemble.

The process of my purchase at ikea was very smooth and easy only to go through such a worse costumer service! This is by far the worst costumer service I ever had to go through. I paid for next day delivery and assembly yet nothing was done right. I was told by the personnel in the store where I purchased that I would get a phone call from the delivery company to arrange the delivery time the next day. Well I didn't get any phone call so the next day (my scheduled delivery day) I made the phone call myself only to find out that according to them now my delivery date is for the next day (jan 1st)! So now all I could do is wait for the next day and I got a little excited that after 2 HRs somebody showed up to deliver the cabinet to my house. Then the person just left. He said he doesn't work for IKEA so he doesn't assemble. At the same time the product got delivered I got a text message saying my order will be delivered tomorrow between 1-5pm so now they're obviously don't know what's going on since I had just gotten my product. I called ikea again and spent another 2 HRs telling them somebody showed up in my house to deliver but no assembly done. The personnel then looked at my product using my order number and told me this time, I did not pay for the assembly when it clearly says on my receipt delivery/assembly. She called the local store here in Miami for the second time and again no answer from the store. So now I'm left hanging with a product sitting here and I don't even know when I would here from IKEA! Such a good timing to end my 2018! All day on the phone with IKEA and they're broken communication... with no answers! read more
