I always found that then you need help it's very difficult to find associate. I also have some issue with lamp shade replacement I bought MINUT Floor lamp and I shade was cracked and I would like to replace it. I asked sales person if I can buy just one shade to replace broken one or may be order it. But sales person said that they don't sell shades for replacement and I have to buy other lamp. But I don't need second lamp.I found out it is ridiculous and why it is so complicated and why it is not possible just buy replacement for one shade. I sent the letter to head office and ask for help to find solution. . I 've got response : "Thank you for contacting IKEA Canada. In regards to your inquiry, please note that IKEA does not sell replacement lamp shades separately for the MINUT lamp. The lamp base and the shades are sold together as one complete unit. While it may be possible to obtain the component you are looking for, we do not keep an inventory of spare parts. I've been waiting over 3 weeks for kitchen cabinet suspension rails that I didn't order with my cabinets because I didn't know I had to order them separately even though they are crucial for the installation of said cabinets. Now IKEA Edmonton is doing pick and click curb side but I can't go pick up my order because no time slots are available. I paid the delivery fee for my first order which was fine and it arrived 2 days later. This delivery is quoted at 6 weeks MINIMUM which is utterly ridiculous especially since the products are sitting in the warehouse in Edmonton. I've paid extra AGAIN for delivery fees and have no idea when they will actually arrive. Customer service is non existent, I've tried calling, live chat, FB, email, an IKEA survey comment box which I'm 99% sure nobody will ever read and yelp. While I do understand there is a pandemic happening what I don't understand is not giving people options for essential services other places are using disinfectant, hand sanitizer and social distance to mitagate the risk of "Covid 19" why isn't IKEA? IKEA is only concerned with adding to a frustrating situation, making it worse and charging people extra for deliveries that who knows will arrive. IKEA has no issues charging my credit card for my order plus the delivery fees within seconds but has zero accountability to their customers. This will be my very last time shopping at IKEA and I have been telling my friends, family and sharing on social media my very negative experience. Shame on you IKEA! Be better! read more

Great store for furniture, decor ideas, etc. I can spend a whole day looking through the various staging, and departments.Their cafeteria is a hit with extremely affordable prices and options. My one huge complaint is their parking lot- they either have to invest into a multi level parking or have more organised way of getting a place to park and leaving, yes leaving the parking lot especially on a weekend is ridiculous. It takes at least half an hour and it looks like they need someone to police the place giving the right of way as people do not seem to know how to do this on their own. read more

Puzzled why IKEA feels it necessary to hold customers captive by making it so confusing to exit the store without considerable frustration and confusion. The self assembly of featured furnishings is also made made more challenging by using hardware unfamiliar to most North Americans. If you're looking to make a quick purchase this is not the place to go. The cafeteria offers some good choices at economical prices. Lots of parking but at times it's still hard to find a spot. read more

Horrible experience trying to cancel my online order. Have talked to four people so far in two days, been on hold a total of three hours, been transferred and hung up on, finally had it confirmed it was cancelled then received an email saying it had been shipped to the warehouse to be delivered, called to reconfirm the cancellation, was told they already tried to deliver ( which they hadn't, it was a full week before the actual confirmed delivery date) then told they didn't have the tools to cancel since it was already in the warehouse. I only ordered the items two days ago then spent the last two days trying to cancel. I was only trying to cancel so I could add more to my order, now I'm not going to order anything at all so I don't have to deal with this ridiculousness again! read more

IKEA is a great company with very good business practices. They do what they do very well, and their product is the good value for the level of materials and workmanship. The problem with IKEA arises when people don't take it for what it is: disposable, mediocre, contemporary furnishings. If you expect to wow your friends and family with your design savvy, or that your products will last more than 1-2 years, you're living in a dream world. Even over a relatively short term, say 10 years, you'll end up spending FAR more on replacing IKEA furniture and lighting than you ever would at a reputable boutique like 29 Armstrong or Dwell Modern - unless you're the kind of person that would rather collect a bunch of junk instead of having a few special pieces. read more

This is a review of IKEA as a restaurant, because, I have been known to take trips to the store solely for a cheap meal when I am in the South Edmonton Common area (and I totally know others have been doing this as well - all the Saturday morning brunches with the grandparents I see waiting at the door before opening?). NO SHAME!!! First off, Breakfast. It's $1 for a plate full of scrambled eggs, fried potatoes and 2 small breakfast sausages. ONE DOLLAR. If, like me, you don't like powdered eggs (I highly doubt those things are real), they will sub extra potatoes for you. They open a half hour before the store opens (restaurant opens 9:30, store opens at 10), and if you go in the first half hour, you also get a FREE coffee or tea. It's not revolutionary food by any means, but it's ONE DOLLAR. The rest of the day, things get a tad more expensive. Ask if they have the $1.99 pasta special anymore, it's pretty much just pasta and red sauce, but, hey, $1.99. Fountain pop/juice or coffee/tea is $1 with unlimited refills while you're dining upstairs. For those who like fruit juices, the Lingonberry juice is highly recommended! The Swedish meatballs get the most raves overall - they're alright, but dipping them in Lingonberry jam is a must. Their mushroom soup is rich, golden and chock full of mushrooms. I've had some of their other salads and salmon dishes, and while the quality is ok, prices are relatively higher, so I usually stick with the cheaper offerings. Moms and dads, there's free baby food with purchase of an adult meal, too. Oh, and they serve WINE. Downstairs near the exit, there is a little IKEA cafe where you can pick up a frozen yogurt for $1 (or Lingonberry sundae for $1.50), a 75 cent hot dog, $2 cinnamon bun and coffee combo, or $1 drinks to go (the ones upstairs are in mugs and glasses you have to finish drinking there). The annoying parts are that: 1) it is cafeteria-style, so you line up to get food on a tray and have to clean up after yourself, 2) you have to walk the whole way through the downstairs 'marketplace' before you can get out of there, and 3) there are separate entrance and exit doors, so that no matter where you park your car, you'll always have a bit of a hike either there or back... but a small price to pay for ONE DOLLAR BREAKFAST!!! read more

Oh IKEA, if only you knew the joy you bring me! I have so much stuff from IKEA. The great thing about the place is you can have the cheap, bare-bone basics or you can spend a little more money to get something classier. They have a really good price and style range. It's still cookie cutter furniture, but the quality is in my opinion pretty darn good for the price. The furniture is easy to assemble and the instructions are surprisingly straightforward for just being pictures. After years of shopping at IKEA, instructions with words frustrate me! Their kitchen stuff is pretty much the best. I have potato peelers that were dirt cheap and work better than the expensive brand-name ones. I bought a lemon juicer for a dollar there years ago and it is still my favorite. Basically, most of the kitchen stuff is very affordable and of top quality. The store is also a great place to go for a cheap, fun date! Decent* food for next to nothing, including frozen yogurt cones for a dollar! It's fun to just walk around and play in the show rooms. It's easy to spend several hours here wandering around and looking at all of the pretty furniture and accessories, fantasizing about your dream home. One drawback: the lineups are horrible!! And you can easily get suckered in to buying a boatload of tchotchkes because they display them in rows beside the isles and you're standing there for so darn long! (P.S. I purchased a day bed from IKEA about 2 years ago and shortly after disassembled it and put the bed in storage. This weekend I went to reassemble the bed and discovered that a metal piece that secures the wooden slates was missing. Solution--simple, go to IKEA and order the piece. Reality--IKEA does not stock this piece (in fact they don't even have this piece available at all) and I don't have the receipt from 2 years ago (who saves receipts for 2 years). Result--I have a $350 bed rendered useless because IKEA doesn't stock replacement parts for their product!!!! I'm glad I didn't buy a car from IKEA!!! read more

I was running in to grab some bedding for my daughter for her bday & as I knew it was kids bedding so I was able to pop in & get it right @ the top of the stairs by the restaurant, get breakfast for $1 & had time leftover for a quick look around! I ended up picking up a coordinating cushion & a mirror that was a good size for $19.99 when a similar smaller one was $29.99 @ bouclair home. All in all a successful trip! read more

Ikea seems to cater to all demographics, toys for the kids, sleek sexy furniture for adults and affordable good looking furniture for students, pretty much covers it all. If you generally have any idea what you are looking for, like a dresser, then you probably will find it at Ikea. I hate the location of this place though its always packed, always. The setup of the store sucks too because theres only one way in and one way out. Essentially you are forced to look at the whole store when you might just need one thing. So when you park you ask yourself do I want to walk now or later? Usually later because your almost always walking out of Ikea with a purchase. PLEASE IMPROVE YOUR DIRECTIONAL SIGNS: I visited with a handicapped person on wheel chair to your South Commons, Edmonton outlet looking for window curtains. We asked a staff member, she told us it would be in Area 15. We followed the sign that clearly points to Areas 1 - 29...... Went a full circle to where we began, at the elevator...., checked the sign carefully again, same sign that CLEARLY says Areas 1 - 29!!! Where is Area 15? Finally we were told by another staffer that it was DOWNSTAIRS! Why WOULD YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR CUSTOMERS WALK A COMPLETE CIRCLE..... back to the elevator, only to find out that Areas 11 (? forgot where the upstairs circle ended) to 29 are downstairs. For able bodies, it might be good exercise, but for a handicapped person or if the shopper is in a hurry, it's absurd for misleading them this way........!! I think I've made the case clear enough. Please improve on your signage. Next time I visit your store, if I see the same sign again without changes, I will walk out and tell my friends about this in social media. Crappy products that fall apart in a month!! Bought the white pedestal round table and matching chairs. Literally cant even wipe the chairs with a damp rag all the paint swipes off! Same thing with the table! Spent over $700 on the set and none of it even lasted 3 months!! Ive had other furniture from there too and same thing...guess thats what happens when you buy cheap molded wood chips.. terrible quality and not even worth the price they want. I do like ikea, they have everything you need and more! Our bedroom is pretty much all from there, and coffee tables. I really have to be in the mood to go here otherwise I don't like to go, it's either I know what I'm going in for or it can wait for another day. The big delema I've been having recently though is that the only thing ill eat from the cafeteria is the fish n chips. Sometimes when I go there they don't have it? And other times they do? .. We go to Ikea to walk around and browse on a lazy evening sometimes. Lots of good deals and a cafeteria with good food at good prices. We've bought candles, a highchair, kitchen stuff and the list goes on. A good place to shop for good value, even if the stuff isn't the highest quality it does the job. read more

This is honestly the best place to be if you are a student or on a low budge for home supplies. I go there almost once a month. I love their showrooms and of course the restaurant. The only thing I didn't like though is that getting help with the picking up the furnitures to put them on your cart or in your car. I had to wait and look for people. Ikea and I have a love hate relationship. I love their prices, I hate how long it takes me to get through that damn store. I also hate that in the past year they have changed the size of their chair and discontinued the black colour in their malm set (this makes it very difficult to find a black dresser). Regardless, as a young-20-something starting out Ikea is the perfect fit for furnishing a home. I love that you can furnish your entire home in that store, and I love that they keep up with most of the trends! read more

The husband and I went here to price out some new kitchen cabinets. I really like how Ikea has literally everything we want, but it's always a bugger to meander through every single department, especially when we are under a slight time restraint. The pricing seems odd, but that's because it's all completely separate: Cupboards, then doors, then hinges, then hardware. It gets overwhelming, but the 25 year guarantee is very appealing. I guess we will see how it goes when it comes time to get them! read more

I'll be the first to admit, most of our furniture is from IKEA, and it's not always about the price. IKEA has the beset solutions for small spaces, and we are in need of a lot of storage in a relatively small area. Also,with a baby on the way, we needed somewhere we could get a nice looking, safe crib that didn't cost a million dollars. IKEA had just what we needed, and they also have a lot of really clever toy storage. Did I mention that I love storage? While we don't necessarily like going to the store (especially my husband), we always find what we came for and the staff is always helpful. read more

IKEA is IKEA no matter where you are in the world, and this store's inventory and layout are no different from any other. But, they're an excellent option for practical, affordable furniture that's reasonable quality for the price, and if you need something affordable and cheap in a hurry you just can't beat IKEA. I love the fact they also have recycling bins where you can drop off things like lightbulbs and batteries that are a pain to safely dispose of, and bins of spare screws, dowels, and other bits and pieces that you can help yourself to free of charge if you need extra. I also had to return a couple of items that were damaged, and had absolutely no issues with the staff who were happy to exchange the items without charge and even gave me a gift card at one point in an apology for an unusually long wait. Thumbs up, IKEA is the place to go until you're ready to invest in some real high quality furniture that will be with you for years. read more

Worst experience ever. Tried to gather necessary parts of a desk I wanted only to find out that the pieces were still wrapped in plastic on a palette two selves up. Ask if the crew of store stockers could take them down as they were all standing around doing nothing beside a fork lift. Was told the store doesn't allow operations like that during store hours because fork lift drivers kept crashing into things and that they might get to it that night if they didn't forget. Stupid store policy, awful costumer service. Get some competent operators so you can work efficiently when you're supposed to. read more

Worst customer service ever. Went there 2 days ago to purchase set of sink and cabinet for my bathroom. Paid and only to find out that I was force to collect the sink the next day because the product was so called not "reachable". To make the long story short, after assembling the cabinet the same day, i came to realize that the cabinet doors width were too short. There was 1 inch gap in the center after closing both doors. Who will buy a cabinet with a gap in between after closing both doors ? Must be a joke right ? I return the product the next days to get an explaination and told them product was obviously defective. Staff were unhelpful. Gave me 2 options : a new set option or refund option. Since I was stucked in the situation, refund was not my option. Took a new set and assemble on the spot and true enough same problem appear. Spoke to the sales manager who was rude and overly defensive over the product stating that the product was not defective. I decided to refund cabinet and the sink. Product quality sucks and customer service doubly sucks. I felt like it was my fault to have purchased the product and that the manager insulted my intellegence to spend my 4-6 hours time doing a product testing for Ikea for free excluding my travel time to return a product that was "not defective". I was very disappointed with Ikea for such poor handling of my case. Ikea has no idea what customer service was or maybe too successful and forgot who is paying them for thier existence, us, the CUSTOMER. I have no interest to give any suggestion or comment to Ikea in the future. We, customers, do not benefit anything from it but Ikea. Just let Ikea rot. read more

IKEA's home delivery customer service wise is definitely the worst I've encountered thus far. Saying that I am frustrated is an understatement. Two weeks ago, I called customer service in regards to missing a few pieces in my wardrobe set which we had delivered. We had purchased two sets and only one set had issues. After spending 40 minutes on the phone, the call rep was finally able to narrow down which boxes were missing and turns out IKEA had sent out 2 duplicate boxes and one box which was not numbered. [The wardrobe boxes are suppose to be labelled 1,2,3 for easy set up. It puzzles me how they can mess up a simple delivery] At one point, he had the audacity to say that we didn't purchase the boxes from IKEA because it wasn't numbered. He was quite rude. This doesn't even make sense because how is that even possible when IKEA specifically delivered it. So annoying! Moving on, we were able to work out a delivery date to have the entire set exchanged for a new one. On the expected delivery day, we received a call from the Edmonton Store stating that they didn't know which item was needed.Turns out, there was no note left on file informing IKEA of the exchange. I tried to contact the person who left the message, but no one answered from that particular extension. So,I had called the store and left a message with Terry, the Edmonton store manager detailing what had occurred. No response. I then called the contacted the customer service center again and was able to work out another delivery date after going over my spiel once again. The after sales team had said, the earliest date we could have our item delivered was Friday, June 3rd (5-9)! Great! Friday evening rolls around, and we are just waiting around like we had all the time in the world. Again,I had called the contact center to inquiry about the status of our delivery and it appeared that our item was put on hold once again because the item did not go through to their delivery system. This hold literally happened 3 times! Apparently, their delivery services requires up to 24-48 hours notice. It would have been brilliant of IKEA to contact and inform us that our item was placed on hold due to this policy. What a waste of time and energy! We are expecting our final delivery this weekend. Lets hope, our delivery is on track! Nonetheless, lesson learned, SKIP THE DELIVERY SERVICE and find another way to get your items home! It will save you the inconvenience,money and hassle in the long run! read more

Ikea is indeed a dangerous place. To avoid the temptation of purchasing too many products, I always bring shopping list with me; otherwise I will end up buying anything but the products I came for. Any time of day and any time of year, Ikea is super busy; and not even its remote South side location is able to deter shoppers from coming. In fact, it is easy to make a day out of shopping at Ikea. Firstly, there is an upper level with all the fantastic showrooms. I adore Ikea designers and decorators' creations: showrooms look cozy, organized, without a single spot of wasted space. Everything is color coordinated without being too matchy-matchy, and there is a nice flow to all rooms. I love that every piece of furniture can be touched, opened, sat on and overall closely inspected. I also love stealing ideas from Ikea's showrooms: ) The lower level is where all furniture parts and home accessories are. I love how Ikea attends to every storage need a human being may have, and sells such ingenious items as shoe boxes, storage with compartments and closet storage systems. Ikea's famous buffet is another reason why people rush in every day. Everything on the menu is inexpensive, simple and delicious. read more

I am a woman with a family to look after and for me IKEA is a great store. Trust me I wouldn't furnish my whole home in their furniture but for bookcases or my 15 yr old's new bedroom it's great. I'll admit their stuff comes in pieces with an Allen wrench, a pamphlet and million screws that you hope can be assembled. Remarkably it always seems to work out and eventually you have your item put together. But my real reason for the "FIVE STAR" rating is their Customer Service. A few years ago I purchased a floor saver from IKEA. We had just installed new hardwood floors and needed floor protection at our computer desk. Unfortunately the protector I purchased did the opposite and instead of protect the floor it damaged it. Somehow there was a chemical reaction between the sealant on the hardwood and the non-slip backing on the floor protector, that caused the sealant to bubble and peel. The floor was a MESS and the sealant continued to peel from the floor so I decided to contact IKEA. I also checked their website and notice that the floor protector I bought was not available. They did have another floor protector that was similar and a "Warning" that cautioned people to "lift the protector occasionally to allow air flow as it may cause damage to the floor". After an investigation by their customer service department IKEA took responsibility for their product and agreed to pay to replacement the floor. Some people may say that IKEA stuff is for Kids or "starving students" but personally I am impressed with their level of service. Now a days to find this quality of customer service is difficult and not at all the norm. All businesses should service what they sell or at the very least offer their customer some form of restitution. IKEA is a GREAT store for the category of things they sell, you certainly wouldn't go there to purchase that "Special" piece of furniture that you will pass on to your Grandchildren. Just like you wouldn't go to a Hyundai Dealership to buy a Porsche. IKEA serves a purpose, fills a gap and is a general all round fun place to spend an afternoon. read more

If there was a place to give 0 stars I would. I can't believe that IKEA has somehow received 4.5 stars on ANY review! We ordered a bed set a month ago with a scheduled delivery date of November 23rd. November 23rd came around and we still hadn't received a phone call so I called customer service to be told that they won't do anything until it has been late by 6 business days. 6 business days approaches with still no phone call so I call customer service yet again. They say yes it's late and we'll put a trace on it but that will take 2-5 business days. It is currently business day #4 and we still have not heard from IKEA. As of tomorrow they will be receiving a phone call from me informing them they have 3 options 1. Refund my entire purchase INCLUDING shipping and they can keep their cheap furniture 2. have our furniture at our door step by the end of the business day on Wednesday OR 3. I will be seeking a charge back via VISA. I would NEVER EVER recommend IKEA to ANYONE. What a terrible experience for cheap crap that's not worth anything anyways! We know for next time and will never be purchasing anything from there ever again! Boy do I ever love Ikea. I love all the furniture, bedding, knick knacks etc. that you can get there. And you can feed two people for under 5 bucks if you quickly want to fuel up on hot dogs for your shopping trip or sit and relax afterwards. However, my visit yesterday to Ikea was very disappointing. I am a sales person myself, so whenever I get bad customer service it really bothers me. When I'm at ikea and I see something I like, I quickly check the App from my phone to see if it is in stock before I bother someone about it. I simply wanted to buy a rug that the website said was in stock. I tried to ask a guy in the warehouse where it was because nobody was in the textiles department, and he told me to go back there because someone should be there. Just because someone SHOULD be there doesn't mean they are. And I had already picked my furniture so why should I have to wheel it through, going the wrong way, to get back to textiles. He also answered the phone when he was helping me and asked me if there was much more to help me with because he had to take a call. I just wanted to know where the other furniture I wanted was because they obviously moved it from the location where it was supposed to be according to its tag in the show room. When I was waiting to ask someone else for help he continued to help the person in front of me without ever looking up once to acknowledge me or say he'd be right with me which really made me mad. I also wanted to buy a mattress but I have a small car, and I noticed that some of their mattresses are rolled up so I was trying to inquire as to whether it was rolled up because that would make the difference between being able to take it home or having to come back with a truck. They told me it was rolled up and they were going to get it, wasted my time and it turned out it wasn't (which I figured in the first place since it was a large mattress and it seemed it would have been impossible to roll. The guys in the warehouse just didn't seem interested in helping me. One of the guys was named Sean, not sure about the other. Wish Ikea would have better customer service, because I also encountered rudeness when trying to return an item and trying to explain that they left out some hardware pieces, and I was talked to like I was stupid. read more

I love IKEA. It's great for a young professional who is living in rentals and also good for new home buyers. If you have some assembly skills, then you will love this place. I like to stop by the returns section first. If you but something from Ikea and take it back because it didn't look right in your space or didn't fit, this is where it will all go. In addition, when the Ikea staff switch out store displays, the product gets sold for nearly half price in the returns area. I gave them 3 stars because the ATM/debit/visa machine's are crap! You don't always have the option to pay with the card that you want and it has nothing to do with your spending habits(maxing out cards or going over limit on a bank account), there is just something plane weird with their machines. If you ask to go to another cashier, you might as we'll ask to be knived by the Ikea staff because they will glare at you like a high class criminal! I highly suggest that the store manager give some proper training to their staff on why they should apologize when the debit/credit machine craps out on the customer and politely walk them to the front of the next line to be rang up. I bought a couch and it felt like putting together a puzzle. Their Swedish meatballs are actually Italian, like honestly.

Horrible service. Waited for an hour for a single item, because it came from the kitchens department, the staff had to pick it. No sense of urgency at all, very disappointing. 3 people standing at the counter doing absolutely nothing but leaning on it...where is the management in this place, probably eating meatballs in the cafeteria! Unbelieveable!!!! They need to supply beds in the kitchens waiting area so we can nap, the couches are full with sleeping customers. They've probably been here since lunch time.
