Came here to check out sofa-beds and was impressed by the Cool industrial design of this store. It walks really big, and has these wonderful big windows that give it a lovely spaciousness. They had some lovely plants but other than that, it's your bog-standard store with Billy bookcases, Poäng chairs, Expedit cubes, Stockholm rugs, and a wide range of Ektorp sofas! I am a massive IKEA fan! Each one is the same... but different. Most have their basic products, but sometimes their minor product range is different depending on the location and country. I know this for a fact, as I've been to IKEAs in nearly every western European country and USA! "Why?" you might ask!? Because it's so much fun! And I can Always rely on a scrumptious and affordable meal in their cafes! This location is basically the same as all the others, but in my opinion it is much larger! One of the biggest buildings in central Coventry! It has 3 floors of parking and 6 or more floors in the building total! Your main starting point is on the floor with 'showrooms'. You can find this floor via the 4 massive elevators from the parking garage. Once you manage to make your way through that, the next level down is smaller individual items for sale, like kitchenware, bedding, storage etc. Then the final level down is the massive warehouse of huge items in boxes to buy. I hope you wrote your item # down somewhere or took a pic on your phone, because there's never many people on this floor to help you! Before the check out, be sure to stop by the discounted area. These are the items that someone returned, partially broken, or old showroom furniture. The checkout queues are usually a bit of a wait, but this location has a self service area if you only have a few things. I suggest eating at the cafe before you shop. At this location it is located on the top floor, near the toilets, and conveniently before you begin with the showrooms. Sometimes I get carried away that after shopping I have so much stuff my trolley won''t fit in the cafe seating area. If that happens, put everything in your car and head back up. (Hassle) The cafe offers a wide selection of full meals at very reasonable prices. And desserts, drinks of all sorts, etc. There is also an area for nursing and a small kids play area. Coventrys IKEA won't let you go home hungry! They've even got a second smaller cafe down stairs on the groundfloor, and another quick one after the tills! Also after the tills is a small geocery store with packaged goods to take home and make for dinner. And don't feel bad about dragging you little ones through the place for a couple hours... because there is actually a daycare center here to let them get off all their steam! Tips and Tricks: Join the IKEA Family card program to get a free type of insurance on faulty products. This card also gets you free coffee or tea any time of day... and discounts of select main courses. It also allows for you to know about upcoming events. Last but not least, scan your club card receipt after every shop for a special spurise! Use the loo before you shop, because once you're in the IKEA "maizes", it takes quite some time to actually get out! Allow yourself enough time to lose yourself in the creative mindset of what your potential home or office space could become! This is a creative space! Coventrys location allows you to validate your parking ticket after shopping. Also if you enter your car around the secret back side entrance, you can save some time and park on the ground floor. Everything you need for the home is here under one roof. Beware once you enter you are unlikely to reappear for a couple of hours later or more. The layout is set out that if you only need one or two items, and want to make a beeline for the checkout you have to go through the whole of the store - clever tatics! Ths staff here are friendly and are on hand to re-direct you to the correct place, or can help with a specific question. There is ample parking (they have their own multistorey) just make sure you get your car parking ticket validated at the till so that the car parking is free :) read more

I'm lucky enough to live slap bang inbetween two Ikea's! Aren't I lucky I hear you cry? If I lived in Coventry I'd probably be in this one an awful lot more than I am. It's like 6 floors high which means the restaurant shows great views across the city. But I was in a rush on this day.. A Saturday. Saturday afternoons bring out the kids with nothing better to do. And parents who who don't know how to push a trolley or walk faster. My friend seemed shocked by these things but I've no idea why we were there on a Saturday.. Store greeters and friendly staff make up for the busy store and you feel like there's someone to help you should you wish it. Even the checkout experience was swift yet it was pretty busy. read more

Ikea needs no introduction but this one, located in the city centre, differs from the nearest one near Birmingham: it is not very busy! The shop is the same size, allowing for different layout of course, and you will feel inclined, compelled, (or is it you will have no option but) to follow the winding alleys through the whole three levels. Be organised and check through the catalogue what you want before you go. I don't recommend browsing their website, I have always found it clumsy and difficult to get a good overview. What I love there: the soft blankets,the cheap kitchen stuff, candles and vases, and rollmops from the food shop! read more

What can i say about ikea apart from its great. Maybe not as good as people were expecting but nevertheless, THE place to go for furniture as well as many other things. Store its self is like no other IKEA. First to be built in a town center with other stores like nottingham being built on the outskirts of the town near major roads/motorways. Inside it offers great products at great prices. Yes, they may not be the best quality but 9/10 its stylish and will last. A massive selection of different styles to choose from at various price ranges - where else can you find all this in one place? Friendly staff :) This is the first ever city centre IKEA store and in my experience isn't as busy as the out of town stores. No school holiday nightmares or mammoth sale carpark queues so far. If you do experience a significant problem it is worth complaining as I find that they usually compensate you. Cons In my experience a trip to IKEA is never without difficulty of somekind. Missing screws, out of date instructions, wasted journey because 'in stock' items are actually 'out of stock', the list goes on. The incident most prominent in my mind is the one when they delivered half of someone else's sofa along with ours and left it in our hallway for 5 weeks. Eventually we had to put it out in the street and phone them to say we would wait 15 mins for them to get it, else we would go out and leave it on offer to passing strangers. I usually wait a good 6 months following such incidents before eventually caving in and going back there for something. At least we no longer have to drive all the way to Wednesbury in order to rectify the mistakes. read more

Ikea is great!! The best part is the food, yummy and cheap! Oh and the furniture and cushions and candles!! The only problem with this store is having to pay for the carpark if you don't spend £10. And the lifts are a little annoying but worth the effort. read more

A high rise Ikea? So different from the usual two storey branches! This place is huge. We waited forever for the lifts, I think they could have done with double the amount. In the end we walked up the stairs to the top floor, no wonder we were shattered by the time we had worked out way though the rest of the shop - good job we ate at the cafe before we began. I always liked shopping at Ikea because its a whole new experience for those who haven't been. Luckily this Ikea is located very close to me so I can either go get a quick lunch/dinner or buy a few things for the house. Ikea is Ikea but this one has a great City centre location. It does get really busy at the weekends but in the week it is a good place to go as it's not quite so busy. The resturant is quite good for a cheap and easy simple meal don't expect too much! The meatballs are very traditional for Ikea as they are sweedish meatballs. They come with new potatoes and a berry sauce and gravy which is really nice. And the food court at the back is great, Cans of koppaberg and fab biscuits! They have a selection of sweedish food stuff which is good fun to look at. They also sell hotdogs and icecreams too. read more

Ikea is an experience and a whole day out. You could seriously get lost! This ikea is situated in the city centre which is so benificial and adds to the appeal. Although it may mean you have to apply for delivery which is no big deal as they are so efficient. The variety is vast and the ideas ingenious. The new Ikea store has brought the Swedish name to the midlands, apartfrom the store in wednesbury which would take 45 mins to get to. So this is much more convenient fro everyone in and around coventry. The store has 6 floors, yes six. And the level you start on is ..........six.So you pile into the industrialsized lifts and up you go. Its layout is the same as any ikea store with the cafe and goods on mainly onelevel. you go down one floor and you go through more items spread out.The floors are huge with so many products available. Then to get to the self service area you need to go down three travelators. Then from here you can go the checkouts and to the lifts again. You are on floor three and need to go to you car parklevel so down to 1,2 or ground. This store is really good.Lots of choice like any other ikea store,so no real differences except its in coventry read more

We all know how great Ikea is, how lovely the products are and the prices are reasonable and I think that other reviewers take that into account instead of reviewing just this Ikea. I know it sounds picky but I don't like this Ikea. After spending years travelling to our old 'locals' Birmingham or Nottingham, I was pleased to finally have one on our doorstep. However, I can't get on with it at all. I appreciate how they have fitted it in to a city and not popped it on the city outskirts as they originally planned but in being 'the tallest Ikea in the world' or something is it's problem if you ask me. When we have to go we want to put the kids in the creche - which is fantastic by the way - we have to park in level 2 or 3, wait an incredible time by the lifts before thinking sod it and going down the stairs to the bottom so we can register the kids at the creche for about half hour later. Then we do the lift/ stairs annoyance again to go right up top level (6) to start browsing. When it's time to get the kids to the creche, you have to take escalators to level 5 then find the long escalators down to the bottom - there are short cuts to miss out the long windy guided walks round the shop but you have to be clever and find them as they are unmarked. Kids safely creched, grab a coffee for something to do while you play the lift/stairs game then go and find your partner. Then it's the same 45 minutes later when you have to pick them up. Maybe I'm being a little bit unfair because it's fairly well put out and the cafe is fine and the views are great form the higher windows albeit it's a view of Coventry. BUT it's the annoying lifts and the fact that you have to pay in the car park that puts me off. I'll be going back to Nottingham next time I want a flat pack wardrobe. read more

A city centre Ikea is a great idea! I definitely visit more often now, as I just pop in if I'm in town. The cafe at the entrance is a great idea, although prices are a lot lower in the actual restaurant. The only down side is, if you just want to pop in and pick something up quickly, it's more or less impossible. They make it so hard for you to get outta this place! You have to get an escalator down all the floors, it seems to go on forever! read more

Heres a warning to anyone who last visited Coventry a few years ago-things change. I am from Coventry but live elsewhere now and visit a few times a year to see family. I left it one day and came back a few moinths later to see a. a spacelike pod had landed opposite the market and b. the whole traffic system had changed to accomodate it. Working out how to get into the city centre without going down bus routes, avoiding pedestrian only areas is a nightmare anyway even if you do happen to work out how to get off the ring road. the ringroad exiting and entering is a neat trick. It was built by people who think we all have two heads so we can look left and right at the same time. Actually it was built by my dad and his Irish buddies who Im sure did it for a laugh, another trick to play on English people, not from any malice you understand , they did it just because they could. If you are still alive and have geographical skills learnt in the SAS then you'll arrive at the car park without getting any traffic tickets. Its big its Ikea its central whats not to like. Get in there and have some Swedish Meatballs to get you over the shock of the ringroad. read more

Ikea Coventry is a really fantastic addition to the shopping in the City. The store is well laid out and well stocked, although if you are going there for a specific item it is worth calling first to see if they have it in stock as they are a smaller store than the Birmingham one and it can be disappointing if you were desperately seeking a specific item. The restaurant is excellent quality and really good value especially if you sign up for an Ikea family card which entitles you to free drinks and discounts and so on. They have a rather confusing lift system however with only certain ones going to certain levels so pay attention to where you park and once in there stick to the directional arrows on the floor or you will be going in circles! read more

This is a great ikea, it is huge and not cramped up like so many other Ikeas. There is a large car park where you can park free if you spend over £10. The cafe is realy big and as always serves great meatballs!! Never seems to be massive q's at the checkout and never had any problems getting the item I want. I usually shop at Ikea Wendsbury so I was delighted that the Coventry on opened, as its much more local to where I live. Well I visited it this year and I can honestly say it was the worst ever shopping experience of my life. The staff ignored us (especially in the Café) the layout is appalling and there seems no end to it. I stayed fairly cheerful as I was wandering around the shop, but started to wonder how close the exit was (there is no signs or indication of anything there):- So approached a lady security guard in a cheery manner and asked her if she could let us know where the exit was She then said I am not talking to you sir as your being aggressive but will take to the lady with you. I was 'shocked silent', horrified, hurt and painfully offended. I will never, ever step foot into this shop ever again and cannot ever remember another shopping experience make me feel so wretched and feeling like crying. Take my advice if you live anywhere near Ikea Coventry Visit the Shop in Wensbury instead. read more

This is a new addition to Coventry City Centre. I personally love the shop and can't go in it without buying something. It can be quite hard to find your way around at first but all in all it's a good place and you can probably spend a good few hours looking through. The furniture is nice and they also sell smaller things, e.g. plants, pet stuff, Swedish/Danish food. All in all, a great shop read more

I love Ikea. I always spend more than I planned to. Great food at reasonable prices. Free coffee/tea/chocolate with a family card. Bargains to be had in the seconds and shop soiled section. An unusual IKEA to say the least. You park in it, and then go up in the lift - a little like you would a town house Note you do have to pay for parking unless you get a TILL RECEIPT proving you have spent £10 or more. The store is excellent. Large eating area at the usual value prices you get in IKEA, and an excellnt childrens area are the picks. Be warned the kids play area gets packed and you can have to wait on saturdays or school holidays - so might be best to phone ahead if your kids want to play Great products in ikea, although I think the prices have eeked up a bit over the years. I still recommend for the colour and creative thinking which is used so often within the store. Great location with the sky dome and the city near by. The best place in coventry honestly, if you have not been to this ikea you really should take some time out and plan a visit the staff are amazingly friendly they helped me out so much and made sure all the questions i asked were answered so thankyou. unlike most other ikeas i have been to this one always seems to be fairly quiet which means can get in and out without too much pain! best off going weekday at about 6 or 7 pm can get round in less than an hour if you know what you are going for! read more

Yes, it's an Ikea, but it is also secretly a great rainy day out for babies. My baby likes it anyway. The place is enormous, which gives plenty of places to look around and explore. About halfway round you get the cafe, where for 50p you can have as much coffee as you can drink (brilliant for those long feeding sessions). Then you get the marketplace, which is packed with interesting things to look at/feel. The toys are surprisingly good - a 79p highly realistic stuffed mouse and a £1.50 set of stacking cups are both firm favourites in the toy box. You do have to spend £10 to get your 3 hours parking, but we don't seem to have a problem finding £10's worth of stuff to take home and sometimes it is worth it just to get out of the house read more

When I first went to Ikea I hated it.I got totally lost and panicked that I'd never get out. I then went with someone who showed me the shortcuts and now I can dash round in about an hour.This is not long for Ikea it's alot of dashing!!The cafe on the 6th floor is great and cheap too. Queues can get abit long at lunchtime, but they never seem to run out of anything. You can now have 4 hours freeish parking, you just have to spend something in the shop, food hall or 6th floor cafe, just ask them to validate the ticket when buying your stuff. I even bought a bag of frozen meatballs from the food hall ( level 3, all lifts go there) I then went to Argos and didn't go into the shop bit at all! forced disabled 65 year man to carry and load 2 super kings size mattress. i asked my father to collect 2 large mattress for me as i was busy at work and drive a small car so could not collect them myself, i was happy for my dad to do this and he was happy to knowing that the store would help him take them to the car and help load them in. the fact is that a assistant helped take them to the car but once there dropped the mattress and left leaving my disabled dad to struggle loading them into the cars. he had to lift them to load them in and fight to the mattress past the mobility scooter he has in the vehicle, in the result of doing this my dad has hurt his back so he is in a lot of pain now and we have had to cancel a family meal this evening to celebrate my moms birthday as a result. the worst thing is man dad can only walk and very slow with his walking stock or on his mobility scooter so there is no way at all the assistant could have mistake him for an able body person. terrible terrible terrible service from the store, and even worse when i rang to complain as was told they would do nothing at all, i they said is a should go to the store. will never use CRAPKIA again should be ashamd read more
