This all little ice cream shop looks like any other gelato place from the outside and came at a time I was trying to squeeze a little in before getting my bags and heading to the train station. Upon entering you are greeted with the typical cabinet of flavours and I my two choices were Stracciatella and Smurf, yes Smurf. Now, when you order Smurf from this place the lights dim a little bit, music starts playing, the Smurf's appear on the TV, and bubbles start falling form the season and all of that is just plain magical. Did I immediately start laughing? Yeah I did, because I was confused and it brought me so much joy. Back to the actual gelato, and guess what, it was in fact good! The gelato was creamy, rich, and had great flavour. Overall, Jan Pieter Ijsje was a great little place to stop and grab some gelato. I might not remember everything I ate and did when I was in Amsterdam in a decade or so, but I can assure you I will never forgot what happened when I ordered the Smurf ice cream.

It's a cute little ice cream shop you can't miss because they have a HUGE ice cream statue that looked like it was made of porcelain right outside. So you'll know when you're close walking when you see a giant ice cream cone. I decided on the 3 scoop combo for €3,95: PISTACHIO (2 scoops) - I usually get pistachio when I see it. This one is really good in flavor. There are small traces of the nut and I overall enjoyed it. MOCHA (1 scoop) - it's been so long since I had this flavor! The coffee and chocolate is one flavor you can't go wrong with! Not too sweet cocoa with that hint of coffee. I love Dutch ice cream. I love it more than gelato. If you think gelato is smooth...Dutch ice cream is even more smooth in texture with the quality flavor and taste of gelato! The staff here were super friendly. The yogurt tastes better, perhaps creamier. Maybe it is the milk from the Dutch cows. The formula is simple. Pick your cup size and toppings. I went with a regular plain yogurt with fruits (strawberries, lychee, and pineapple). The fruits were so fresh and juicy. If you don't want fruit, you can also top your yogurt with nuts, coconut, granola, etc. The overall effect is refreshing with a mix of textures.

The Hazelnut tastes like the finest nuts were blended right in front of you. There were CHUNKS of it throughout. Off to an amazing start. The highlight was the Ricotta & Fig. These flavor combos are elite and the Fig ribbon tasted so natural. Not artificial. And the waffle cone was FREE! Insane! America would never.
