If you are willing to travel to the best ice cream parlor then visit the de pijp. Ijscuypje sells traditional Dutch ice cream served Dutch style; it's the only ice cream parlor in Amsterdam that I ever see still packed after the summer is over. Ijscuypje is where ice-cream loving people come from the neighborhood to gather and eat ice cream in Fall, Spring and Summer. The owner here makes life one big joy by providing several desirable flavors that leads you coming back for more. You can not pass this place without resisting a scoop of ice cream. I always enjoy the Mango, Raspberry and Chocolate. You'd be crazy to ignore the ice cream temptation here. During winter they switch to become Stampotje, and sells another traditional Dutch dish called stamppot, which is a mashed potato stew served with several vegetables and sausages.

I even think the row even gave an extra dimension to our ice cream, since my friend and I got in contact with two older people who were the sweetest ever. When it was our turn I chose yoghurt and coconut ice cream. It was creamy and soft and melting on my tongue. Licking and biking my way back to West.. It was all the way yummy in my tummy!

The differences between these is what they use as the base (cream versus milk versus ice). It doesn't matter which flavor or type you get, you are in for a delicious treat. The yogurt flavor was amazingly tasty, tart and sweet. Pricing was a bit confusing but we paid €1,50 for a single scoop. When the whether is warmer, I'm definitely going to have to come back for the massive 4 scoop ones!

The only downside I can think of for this place is that everybody knows that it is such a good place and that sometimes you will have to wait quite a bit before you can start enjoying that great ice cream :) I really like the Italian touch of paying first for a ticket at the cashier and then actually only give this ticket to the person making your ice cream. Saw this a lot in Italy and it is more hygienic this way.

Monte Pelmo has earned its reputation as one of Amsterdam's best gelato stops, and for good reason…read more-- but it helps to know what you're getting. The balls (scoops) are smaller than you might expect, so don't hesitate to order three or even four. They stack neatly into the cones and feel more like a proper tasting flight than over‑indulgence. I tried three flavors, and the experience was a mix of hits and misses: Chocolate Brownie -- the disappointment of the bunch. A little gritty, surprisingly flat, and missing the rich chocolate depth or the decadent brownie texture you'd expect from the name. Not bad, just not memorable. Oreo -- also a disappointment, but paradoxically the clear winner. It doesn't taste like Oreo at all -- no distinct cookie flavor, no crunch -- but the chocolate‑vanilla blend itself is genuinely delicious. Order it not because it's "Oreo," but because it's simply a good flavor. Vanilla -- the standout. Basic vanilla is easy to get wrong, often veering into synthetic or overly sweet territory. This one doesn't. It's rich, natural, and clean, the kind of vanilla that reminds you why the classic exists in the first place. Monte Pelmo remains a Jordaan staple for a reason: even when a flavor misses the mark, the overall quality, texture, and experience stay strong. Grab a cone, don't be shy about multiple balls, and enjoy one of the neighborhood's most reliable treats.
