It was a friend who wanted to come here and after he reminded me it was Rose from Masterchef who ran the cafe, I agreed to try it. While that's pretty awesome, something way cooler happened! Towards the end of our meal, Georgia Barnes (2015 runner up) and Jessie Spiby (2015) came into the cafe for coffee. Lucky us right? My only regret was not asking for a photo with the three of them. Onto the review. As usual I was pretty indecisive and tend to go for a burger option if I can't decide, so I ordered the lamb kofta burger while my friend went for the Lebanese Mezze Breakfast. The wait wasn't too lengthy and my burger was pretty tasty. It's a different type of burger than what I'd normally have, because this one was really fresh and quite light. There was plenty of hummus along with pickled cabbage, cucumber, tomato and a bed of rocket. It stands out visually with the colours. The kofta patty was not bad but I felt it was a bit on the thin side, because there was quite alot of turkish bread that formed the buns. And yeah, as a result the whole experience was quite bready for me but thanks to the hummus and the veges the burger wasn't dry. My friend also wanted to try one of their house made tarts as well so I just had a little bit. It was a passionfruit curd one and it was decent, not too sweet and refreshing due to the passionfruit. But at $4.50 for what's essentially a mini-tart it's getting on the pricey side. I would have gone for a baklava if I was craving a sweet pastry. The interior is very clean looking and inviting, on par with alot of the nicer cafes around the city. The prices are solid ($10.50) for the lamb burger and the breakfast ($15.50). The location is one reason I'd come back- no need to drive to the city just for brunch or lunch. There's a few other things I'd like to try as well if I come back. Overall, a good find and the timing of our visit was impeccable!

A new cafe in an old corner grocery store has breathed life back into a sad little shop…read more We went there for a Friday morning coffee (opens at 830) and 3 hours later we were still there after our 2nd cups/pots of tea that pour seemingly endless cups (ok..maybe 3). It's advertised as a cooking school, cafe and "stuff" venue, and is starting slowly with openings just Mon - Friday until 4pm, but they have events coming up, and have various cooking opportunites, including classes for kids - so keep up to date on https://www.facebook.com/FiveLittleFigs. The breakfasts that were served looked generous and delicious, and they have gluten, wheat and vegan food on offer and it looks fresh and sumptuous...next time! They cater to children, so if you're worried about young people playing (and crying) - don't come! I see this as a refuge for parents who want to meet their friends while their kids can draw on the chalk board or have something to eat at their own table. Support a new local, or pop out of your way for a quirky, delicious cafe.

She greeted us personally and gave us a warm welcome. I love the menus! What a novel idea to have them made out of little children's books. Read a little story while waiting - why not? Or just dwell in the reverie that such an item evokes. The atmosphere is fun and friendly with quirky and lovely decor that has been well described in other reviews. Suffice it to say that there is much to look at, enjoy and also purchase. The food was delicious! I love an all day breakfast option and am particularly impressed with the varied bread and non-bread options. e.g. I had a breakfast dish, called 'smashed' which was served on sweetcorn fitters. Delicious non-bread accompaniment to eggs and salmon. My dining companions ordered the pumpkin burger and apparently that was scrumptious. Really healthy too. It looked amazing. Michelle's attention to detail, atmosphere, quality and presentation of food and ability to create warm feelings and fun, make this a great place to come (they also have cooking classes for children and various other activities you can keep abreast of on Facebook).

I tend to disagree about that amount of skin tight lycra being around when I'm drinking my coffee but her theory has not yet proven her wrong when it comes to coffee. Red Berry roast their own blends of coffee and do it well. Unfortunately that is about all they can do in their shop because it is so tiny and they've tried to allow plenty of indoor and outdoor sitting room. This place is great for coffee and cake/sweet treats but is unable to do more than that due to the fact they do not have a toilet facility on site. The brews are good, the ice coffee is rich and creamy and it is a lovely quiet spot on a summer's afternoon, as long as you can overt your eyes long enough from bright pink lycra.

We were on our way to find Three Card Trick.. much to our disappointment it was closed but we noticed that Bond & Lane was open and figured "Well, we're here, why not!" What I'm trying to say is that Andersen's of Denmark Ice Cream is the shiz. Screw how much cash I just gave him (I was too caught up on what I was getting), every lick was worth it. Clearly the most popular spot for ice cream with the number of people lining up, and even the presentation of their store front is amazing. It doesn't take much to get me to eat ice cream. Just take me here, and I'm sold in a few seconds. Did you say you scream for icecream?! And you want to take me here?... Let me think about it......OF COURSE! :D

Where I come from, this means they scoop the ice cream into a cone, then they turn the cone upside-down into warm chocolate which then hardens around your ice cream into a chocolate shell. Sweeet. Here, it apparently means they dip the cone in chocolate and then scoop the ice cream into it, which is not nearly as exciting, and also they charge an extra 50 cents for it. Ice cream shops of Australia: get into the chocolate shell dip thing, it's fantastic and it'll revolutionize your business. You heard it here first...!

Now, I'm no spring chicken and throughout my time on this planet I've had many,many steak sandwiches. You know, the usual stringy, cardboardy, uneatable, thin tiny piece of meat. But because I needed an iron hit that's what I opted for. The steak sandwich arrived on my table, it looked pretty much like any other I'd had before but then I took a bite. ..... PERFECTION! Surprise? The steak was fillet, plenty of it (drool) and cooked b-eeeeautifully :) Whenever I'm in that area again I'm going in for another treat.

It wasn't until a friend drove me to his favourite shop that I got to try the great selection. The guys Adam and Joe took over from the original owners and cakes are made specially by Marissa. On this visit I tried only the ice cream and gelato. It was very tasty and will have to work through all of them to find my favourite. There are not many tables inside and it is a very casual setting. What I did notice was the large number of people coming through the door for a takeaway ice cream. I'll be back.

It's self serve frozen yoghurt, once your cup is full you can add in all your favourite toppings from maltesers, to almonds, to fresh fruit, and cookie dough. The new Marion store only opened last week, and obviously the school holidays are a great time to set up a frozen yoghurt stall. It was hugely popular, but the small store size just doesn't cater particularly well to large groups. If there's one thing to make a 20-something-year-old feel like a granny it's teenagers. They're enough to make you want to write letters, sign petitions, and sigh in constant disapproval. There were plenty hanging around, and half of them didn't seem to be buying anything, just grabbing the free samples. My inner granny grumbled but on the outside I just smiled. It was definitely a longer process than I've ever experienced at the Rundle Mall store, but the staff seemed to handle the rush well. It would be great if there was somewhere nearby to sit with your yoghurt, especially if you've got kids in tow, as Menchie's can get pretty messy with a 4-year-old. The store is nearby the cinemas, and so it's not exactly near the food court.
