St Louis House Of Fine Ice Cream & Dessert - This crepe.! All I can say is that, everyone needs to take the opportunity to eat here. I have continuously ordered from here for desert.

Hot chocolate I was told was good. The banana bread was so awful my friend left 2/3 of it. The cheesecake was small but I still left half of it as it just tasted like cold fat. Better places in the parade.

It's a must-do on a Friday and/or Saturday night after dinners out ... or perhaps simply order UberEats if you're planning on staying in!! They're made with their house milk chocolate, white, or dark. Very sensational!! You can also choose to have them with almond milk, Bonsoy, or Zymil. They seem like they're always busy on the evening, even on weekdays!! Which is good for them. Most of the time seems rare to get an inside table. So be prepared. I haven't tried the desserts here at all, unfortunately, so I cannot fill review at this stage. But their gelato is really good!! I've tried several different flavours. The Lemon Curd Blueberry is absolutely degistational!! The salted caramel is very sweet for all those sweet tooths .... I know there's another caramel flavoured one which isn't as full on and lighter in colour. The only down-fall about this particular store is they don't serve take away gelato when ordering at the counter. Apparently it's purely for UberEats orderees. Aside from that I'm not sure if they even serve waffle cones or bowls .... think it's purely glass dessert bowls when ordering gelato at the counter. From experience this isn't the case at every St Louis store. Gouger Street and Glenelg don't have this policy. I'm future I'll likely extend this review but this is all I've got. Don't pass this place up. St Louis is definitely on the rise!!

Don't you just love it when somewhere exceeds all of your expectations? Well say hello to Chocolate…read moreTaperia. This little dessert bar opened only about a week ago on Melbourne Street, North Adelaide. I snapped a picture of it while it was still being fitted out, a large pink window with the words 'Chocolate Taperia' and a cardboard sign on the door saying 'coming soon'. To tell you the truth I was excited, I'm always excited to try a new dessert bar, but I was also preparing myself to be disappointed. See, all I'd seen was this large pink window that made me think this was going to be a bit too sterile but cutsey to have that real dessert bar charm. Enter last Sunday night, and the pink window is now joined by a few rustic chairs and tables, and the door now opens to a beautifully lit wooden room with antique style chairs and gorgeous wood work. Hello Chocolate Taperia - I think I'm in love. The menu is hispanic, with delicious desserts from Spain and Latin America. It was created by chef Jean-Claude de Toulouse, and he popped over to our table to explain a bit about the menu. It was a nice touch. The Sweet Tapas platters are great for sharing, but try and tackle one yourself and you'll end up wrapping biscuits up in a napkin to take home for later. They sure can be filling. There are 'warm temptations' perfect for winter, and some seasonal desserts. Chocolate Taperia do a good job at pulling off the whole package. Nothing is half arsed (excuse my french), they've put 100% into the menu, the setting, and the service. I'm always rooting for a dessert place that does more than throw together some crepes, waffles, and a fondant and call it a menu. So I hope Chocolate Taperia gets it's name out there as a firm contender on the dessert scene.

For chocolate addicts, it doesn't get much better than this (or worse if you have the "eyes bigger…read morethan stomach" condition like me). Everything from the pressed metal walls to the booths with mini lamp lights and sheer golden curtains creates an aura of luxurious, dark chocolate, I mean wooden, boudoir. The service has been wonderful both times I have been here - friendly, attentive (sometimes a little too much) and always able to manage a large crowd of people (of which there is always one around). A menu of hot and iced chocolates coming in orange, mint, chilli flavours combined with South American herbal teas, coffee and sodas are a nice introduction but lets be realistic you're here for those 2 pages of chocolate based desserts on the menu. I normally pick a chocolate tapas platter to share which changes on a monthly basis just so I can try combinations of dark sticky chocolate with churros or tarts with macarons and mini mousse pots. "Presentation" is the one word I would use to describe the essence of this place. From the carefully decorated dishes to the interior and the staffs manner, it is definitely worth adding to the "best dessert bars of Adelaide," list.

I hope that tune is in your head now too. Anywho, back to the icecream!! Delicious. Get in my mouth right now you little balls of creamy flavour explosion! Om nom nom! I thoroughly enjoy the massive stoner references too in the icecreams that I think the real Ben and Jerry probably had a significant influence in (pretty sure those dudes were big time Cheech and Chong fans back in the day). 'Hazed and Confused', 'Half Baked', 'Cherry Garcia' etc..aaaah so amusing. 'Hazed and Confused' actually tastes like someone stuck a jar of Nutella in there and added fairy dust and sparkles to it just to make it extra special. It's my fave! 'Salted Blondie' is also tops with it's salty caramel sweetness and all round happy joy joy good times. They're perfect to share with somebody who you really really like. Don't share B&J's with no 'acquaintance'. Only BFF's need apply here thank you very much. My 1 star off is simply for the price as it's bloody expensive! 2 scoops is $7.20 and 3 scoops is *gulp* $9.20. With some really fantastic icecream places around it's getting more and more competitive. Therefore B&J's is a sometimes treat. The staff are lovely and they let you try numerous flavours too. My kind of people. It's situated next to the Hoyts Norwood cinemas so you can grab some scoops while you wait for your overhyped action film with a screenplay that could have been written by a trained monkey. It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times... I give Ben & Jerry's 4 stars of amusing 'stoner reference' goodness.

Set back from the corner of the road, next to the Avenues Tavern, it's a remodeled two story affair with a modern Cibo-designed flair. Loads of free parking-this may be a place to stop for morning coffee on your commute into the city instead of trying to grab a coffee before your day starts at a CBD café . And, if you get stuck in traffic, it'll be so much more pleasant if you already have your coffee. The grand opening featured free coffee beverages from 7-10 am, so I ordered my usual Alto skinny latte, 4 shots, extra hot, 3 sweeteners. Had to do the sweeteners on my own, but hey-the coffee was free and they were maxi-busy. Cibo in Prospect, on Prospect Rd remains my favorite Cibo (see my Yelp review), but this new one does a good job. With a couple of exceptions (Cibo Norwood and Cibo Hyde Park), Cibo always seems to deliver the goods-service and coffee-wise. A good choice if you find yourself in an unfamiliar neighborhood and don't feel like experimenting with the unknown. Of course you can always use Yelp if you find yourself in a situation like that! One of the great things about this particular Cibo is the seating. They have a nice, large patio seating area on the main floor. But upstairs, they have a huge deck with an automatic louvered pergola, 360-degree natural window lighting and several styles of seating. It is the place to sit. Sadly, like most Adelaide cafes, I didn't notice any power points, so you should come with a good charge on your computer/phone/tablet. All in all, I am pleased with the effort Cibo makes to treat Adelaide like a city and not like a village. They are helping Adelaide grow(up) by expanding their business here. As always, eat drink and be merry, but not too much! JD
