I order one of their new cold coffee drinks (comes in a few flavors ...Vanilla and Dos leches is two I remember) the flavor was ok I think it had more coffee then flavor so the ratios in the flavor wasn't all there for me ,I think the coffee needed to be a big sweeter. For breakfast we had mostly pancakes,I order the combo that comes with two pancakes,eggs and bacon of sausage.Honestly I wish it would of had included the sausage because the meal did not feel me me up even with two pancakes (plain pancakes) the eggs were pretty good and so was the bacon and hash browns and the pancakes were good. Wanted a fast breakfast before heading for the airport. Chose Village Inn based off their outdoor signage promising sweet and savory pancakes. Never heard of savory pancakes (and ultimately didn't have any - it was basically a loaded hashbrown kinda something). I was seated quickly but waited a good bit for a server to come along. When I did, I ordered coffee, water and my meal. I got the special birthday cake pancakes with 2 eggs over medium, and 2 pieces of bacon. The coffee was typical restaurant fare with little to recommend it. The food came quickly. All was as it should have been. The bacon was slightly better than what you might get at Dennys. That's really what Village Inn is, a slightly better Dennys (or Big Boy?). The pancakes were tasty if a bit over sweet with the toppings, but that is what I ordered. I think they were better than Dennys too. Of course, I thought I was in a bit of a hurry until my phone chirped with the inevitable flight delay notification. I have been going to this IHOP for a couple of years now and can honestly say that it's the best breakfast establishment in the area! I've had numerous different waitresses and while they've all been good, one stands out above the rest. Her name is Yvonna. I will wait in long lines on Sundays until a table opens in her section. I went to IHOP at night on Friday, January 3. It took about 5 minutes for me to get seated because there was no employee at the host stand when I arrived. A male employee eventually seated me and took my drink order. I received my drink quickly. After receiving my beverage, I sat at the table for 15 minutes and no server ever came to take my order. I was never greeted or approached by any server. After waiting for 15 minutes with no service, I placed cash on the table to pay for the beverage and left. I haven't been to IHOP in quite some time but, with so many independent cafes and restaurants shut down or out of business I thought I would give them a try. I am, above anything else in the land of food, a breakfastphile (if there is such a word). So on this auspicious day IHOP and I saw eye to eye. I wanted to try something different and yet something not heavily laden with calories (yes, there are a few on the menu despite its reputation). Gazing down the menu I came across Swedish crepes at only 670 calories (regular patrons will know this calorie count is low for IHOP). What I wasn't prepared with was the sublime and almost delicate taste of thin, watery crepes drizzled with mildly tart gooseberry or cloudberry (I forget which as I'm writing this a few days later) jam which was almost liquid in texture. It has a smooth and tangy flavor/texture and, when my mouth came in contact with it, I wanted to savor it. You know how when you get something that gives you a ride that you don't want to end? I think it took me about 45 minutes to eat four wispy crepes. But such is my corner of paradise. read more

We waited about 15 more minutes to see her again to ask to place our food orders. She walked past us without even acknowledging us. We waited about 10 more minutes and she finally stopped once I saw her and called out to her as she passed by us again. She finally took our orders. We literally sat for and HOUR AND 30 mins to get our food. During the wait we were promised twice by someone who wasn't even our waitress, that we'd get our food soon because our waitress was cooking our food. We were starving and confused and constantly lied to. We even were looking up alternate places to eat but it was 4am by the time we starting looking after so much time had passed by. The waitress finally shows face, still without food. She not once apologized and kept telling me that she would be back to discuss the wait and have our food.. by then we were closing in on the two hour mark and we were honestly upset at this point. She literally stated, "As soon as I bring the other table their drinks we can have a conversation." She passed by and took the other table their drinks as they had come in about 20 mins after us and had a longgggg wait as well. She attempted to walk past me again ignoring the fact that she just told me we could speak about the service. I asked her could she talk to me and she threw her hands up and said "what do you want me to say??! I can't talk to you I'm busy and your food is here." That's when the other young lady brought it out. She was rude and very disrespectful and lacked training and customer service. I asked for the manager and her response was "it ain't no manager here! Just me. And y'all food free since you want to complain about the wait." The wait was wayyyyyy too long and for her to speak to us like that was ridiculous. Why get mad at the curious customers who waited almost 2 hrs just to get food to eat. On top of that the food was COLD. So we received HORRIBLE SERVICE, RUDENESS, DISRESPECT and COLD FOOD. The table beside us was just as pissed. But two out of three of them had to pay for their meals because only one of them complained about the wait and service. Why charge two and not the other one? Why comp my table and not the other table who waited over an hour and 30 min?? Thanks ihop for this, I won't return to another one of your locations. IHOP was definitely there for us for some late night food after a night out of dancing and birthday partying! For this, I am ever grateful. It had been a while since I last visited an IHOP. It is still the same late night diner experience I remember, with the various pancake varieties and breakfast platter favorites. I'm obviously not a regular, but the pancakes are good here especially at 2am when you need food and there is nothing else open. I noticed the dining area wasn't that full at all, yet I felt like my group of 3 was waiting forever to be seated without any real reason. A long line even started to form in the waiting area, and didn't have to be. I don't know what the deal was, short staffed? Oversight? Misunderstanding? Whatever it was, if there was maybe a proper expectation set, I would have been more understanding and had given a different rating. But there wasn't, and for that I took off a star. For food, I ordered one the breakfast platters I think was called the smokehouse platter, which included scrambled eggs, hash, sausage, and regular pancakes. I was definitely excited! It said it had sausage, so I thought I was getting sausage links, when in fact I got these hot dog tasting sausages split in half. Nope I didn't like that taste at all, and for that took off another star. I ate everything else, and it was terrific. But now I know better not to get that one, that is if I do go back. I did drink the whole pot of coffee on my own, which helped wake me up for the ride home. IHOP does fill the late night hunger food gap for Tampa, so I give it credit for its existence. read more

Just okay. We are keto and asked to make sure our eggs were just scrambled and with no pancake batter (since we know the typically use the same egg mix as omelets), server didn't get it. Eventually said she understood. When eggs arrived they were very fluffy indicating there was most likely batter in them. Javier was the chef tonight and I must say that the tips were cooked to perfection and the mushrooms and onions were on point. They take modifications... Helps to be laid back since the staff has to meet timed deadlines if they seat you. That is why sometimes you get to wait at the door esp when shift change comes about.
