Customer service is horrible, short staffed to hell and some of the staff are inexperienced. Won't be back

We arrived at 8:08am.... We were sat and served by Anina J who was very sweet. We placed our order and started with coffee and a Pepsi zero. Fast forward to 9:15am we were walking out your door NEVER having been served any food while all the tables around us had been after coming in after us -including a party of 8!!! Funny thing was we were the ONLY white people on that side of the restaurant with the other patrons being black or Hispanic. I'm not saying it was racially motivated but one would question it after an hour with no food and the other tables all got theirs-even after we had been waiting a bit. Further, Anina J only came once to tell us it wasn't ready yet and never refilled our drinks once. After waiting an hour we had had enough and were very upset because that is UBSERD!!!! We signed our check at 9:11am (check #: 302392178) and left. Not once did anyone come talk to us manager wise note our waitress after telling us it wasn't ready. We left vowing NEVER to go to an ihop ever again and absolutely FURIOUS we still had to pay for our drinks which we never even got a refill on!!! $7.65!!!!! We basically paid you for nothing! No food, no refills. No service!!! Disgusting at best! We will never ever be back ever and cannot believe we were not even offered the 2 drinks we did actually get to be comped. At that point it was the least they could do. We did observe our waitress asking all the other tables of color if they needed anything and refilling their items.... Hmmmm no manager, no service, no food, no good.i would give you zero stars if i could!!!!! read more

IHOP - Proof of visit, waitress, timing, and PAID drinks!!! - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Merrillville, Indiana

Not sure why we stayed The place was empty My husband and I were the only customers. Should have been my first clue! We were seated at a booth with a HUGE hole on the seat As we were sitting there a beeping was constantly going off The food was barley edible Had to remind the server about part of my order. Which finally was served as I was finished with my food Would not recommend at all! We will not be going back So sad because all the problem are things that can be easily fixed Also my husband did use the bathroom and said that it looked like it has not been cleaned in an extremely long time Who is running that place and so they have eyes or ears? Amazing the place is still open for business read more

The foods was made so well I almost cried! Our waiter was kind and fun. Place was clean.

Been here before and swore I wouldn't go back and but here we were, running out of options and getting past noon, hungry. Should have backed out when I heard the first whistle, but assumed it would quit. We were seated where the irritating beep/whistle was loud enough to hurt my ears. Should have left. Didn't. Again, assumed they'd find the problem and turn it off. Finally in frustration, I complained and the lady in the booth behind us said, it's the battery in the door alarm. OHH! Should have left. Didn't. Then our server came back and said they called the alarm company who wouldn't be out until the next day. I stuffed part of my napkin in my ears and tried to eat my Smokehouse Combo at $13.99. Hubby had ordered his Over Easy x2 at $11.59. Hubby's order was dull, ordinary. My order disappointing as well, but in such a hurry to leave couldn't enjoy anyway. read more

This place is disgusting. Ac leaking all over the floor. Old food still on the table. Just overall gross. The service was not bad though. Food was decent not too bad. read more

You can say what you want about IHOP and I know that it isn't for everyone but we've been to this location twice in the last 6 months while traveling and the food and service have been good. Had a new breakfast biscuit entree and it was good. Also half stack of pancakes were good. Sufficient amount of food but not overwhelming which some of the entrees can be for me. Surprisingly the restaurant was not crowded on a Sunday morning which was a pleasant surprise! read more

Refused to attends us as soon as we stepped into the door. They were also empty so that wasn't an excuse. She simply said she wouldn't take us. read more

This restaurant is horrible, went there tonight 10/21/25. First we were told it would be about 10 min before they could seat us, mind you there were 3 tables total in the restaurant with customers at it. Then we were told when they seated us that we could only pay with a card no cash. We ordered coffee our waitress Kay said she would make a fresh pot and 15 min later we had to ask again for our coffee. We finally got the coffee and gave our order and were told there was no toast. I poured the coffee for the 3 of us and it was barely warm. We waited for her to come back and I finally went to her behind the counter and asked if we could get hot coffee, she did bring another pot and this time it was hot. Our food finally came, I had ordered a bacon, spinich and tomato omelet the tomatoes were on top and cold, the pancakes were barely warm as well as the waffle my friend ordered, the butter wouldn't even melt. This was a terrible experience and I would never go there again. There was one waitress and one cook, take my advice and go somewhere else. read more

On our way to Chicago and needed some breakfast. We were in and out in 20 minutes. Great food. Eggs were prepared perfect over easy with crispy bacon and buttery hash browns. Personable service. Set us up for a full day of baseball and beers. This will be a regular stop on our way north. read more

Great experience, very clean!! The greeter was very hospitable. My server, Illie(spelling) was super kind and efficient. The food was great yet budget friendly. The GM, Mr. Joseph, was so warm and kind. He made us feel that we were at home for the holidays. I will be back whenever I am in the area. DKB read more

When you want breakfast this is the a strong place. The food was spot on but with hotels not serving breakfast you need another place to eat. I want to judge them In the service received on my Togo order. It was perfect!!! read more

I ordered through DoorDash and when I got my food there was no pancakes with steak omelet and the Belgium waffle was cold. Order took a long time for them to prepare and bag was opened and not tied or stapled. I tried to call the restaurant and it was some kind of corporate phone number and had me leave a voice mail. Nothing from them back as of yet. read more

We came here at 10 am on Sunday morning and the parking lot was about 1/2 full. There were people waiting to be seated and we were told it would be 10 mins. Well 30 minutes later the host came into the vestibule and called for the lady next to me. I was already told that I was next to her so after another 5 mins, watching several tables come out, I went inside and asked when I was going to get seated. He told me that he called my name, but he NEVER came into the vestibule, where 8 other people were waiting, to call a name. He took us to our table, and I told him that he needs to check outside, there are a lot of people out there waiting. He never acknowledged that I was even talking to him. Just walked away from me. My wife and I commented that less than half of the tables were taken and there was at least 20 people waiting out front, not being seated. I understand that they may not have enough employees to fully operate, but there was a lot of to go orders waiting to be picked up. We waited at least 5 more mins to place our order and then waited another 30 before we asked our waitress when our order was coming out. She said it would be another 10 mins. My wife and I had enough and told her to not bother and we got up to leave, she said that she was going to check on our order and come right back. She came back to the table and said you don't have to leave, the order is ready. She then went back to the kitchen, and we waited another couple of min's and then left. We felt bad for the server, but it was totally ridiculous how long we were there (75 min's total) ... If you cannot fully staff, then you should not open. read more

Pretty sure our waitress forgot to put our order in. We waited around 40 minutes until she made eye contact with me and said 'oh shit' under her breath. I ordered sausage, she brought me bacon. My friend was halfway through his meal and she finally dropped off his pancakes. Then she continuously showed us attention, but we already were not happy with the service. Really no apology. Just communicate. I wish I could give no stars. read more

We have ordered a lot from this location via doordash, pickup and dining in. Today we ordered doordash and were served moldy bread. It was not discovered until she bit into the bread. She had already eaten an entire slice before seeing the mold. Hopefully just the one slice was molded and she will not get sick. Never eating here again. read more

IHOP - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Merrillville, Indiana

When we walked in, it didn't seem to be too busy. The worker had told us there was a wait. We waited for a bit and we were seated in a booth. We ordered the full stack of pancakes, which includes five pancakes. We also got four sausage links. It took awhile for these items to be made, surprisingly. The pancakes were alright at best. The butter was served hard and was hard to spread. The syrup it came with was alright, not too special. The blueberry syrup was pretty good, though. The strawberry syrup wasn't at all enjoyable. The sausage link was alright at best. None of the food was out of the ordinary. The service was slow and we seemed to be neglected. The greeting stage was quick, but it seemed to slow down throughout our time there. The check was kind of thrown at us, almost like we were being rushed to give up our table. Unfortunately, the visit wasn't too relaxing. Overall, the experience wasn't good and I don't know if I'll give them another shot or not. Maybe I will if it's convenient and I'm in the area. I came in today for the free pancake coupon they sent me, otherwise I probably wouldn't have dined here. If I get another freebie, then I guess I'd try them again. read more

I love this place!!! There was perfect service and great food. I definitely recommend going here!

The waitress asked me what I wanted and if I'm ready to order. So I tell her I would like 3-eggs over medium ,hash browns and ham with toast and a side of crispy bacon and a cup of sausage gravy. Then she decides that's to much to remember and says hold on I need a pad for all this. So she gets one and comes back and I repeat my order two more times. My food comes out and I have two eggs sunny side up and raw on top. I got no gravy but got an extra hash brown and the bacon was fat from crispy it was mostly raw. The. She takes back the extra hash brown and brings my the side cup of gravy and it's ice cold like out of the fridge cold and now so is my breakfast! The coffee was just like warm as well. Next time give a choice I'll go to McDonalds! No excuse for any of this. read more

Less than 1 if possible. Friday night 9/2 8pm. We walk in, stand at front, nobody to be found to seat us. 2-3 other tables eating/waiting for service. We spot a man and woman in the front corner booth cuddling/goofing off. This can't be the workers can it? Nobody serving tables, nobody in the kitchen. After about 8-9 minutes the girl from the front corner booth gets up and walks over to us. At this point it's clear she's got better things to do(the guy) than service her customers so we leave. No apology, nothing. Feel bad for the stranded customers at their booths. They still might be there.... Close your doors if this is acceptable. read more

The person who sat us I wasn't even sure worked there for the first ten minutes we stood there waiting to be acknowledged. From her demeanor to clothes, nothing said I work here. We were seated at 3:25 and it was 15 min before a server came to our table to tell us she's be with us shortly. 10 minutes later she took our order. At 4:05 she came over and plopped our drinks down. We were never ever offered water up to this point. That was the last time anyone made an appearance at our table. At 4:40 we got up and walked out to stares from the all the employees yapping it back where they used to make the food. O don't want they do back there now. I saw one order of food come out the entire time we're there. This was promptly taken away so obviously something was wrong with it. Never again. What a complete waste of time. We left went to Bob Evans and were eating in 20 minutes and we're waited in by the most attentive server one could hope for. I can't stress enough what an awful place this is. The bathroom? Filthy. read more

I will say the reason I gave one star is because this one lady before we were ever even seated was so rude and confrontational. Her name was Bianca. She was the absolute worst. I don't know if she was having a bad day or what. But I don't want someone to treat me in any way other than courteous when I come in to bring my children. You can tell when someone is angry. Their voice gets really shaky and cracks. In which she was. Then she proceeded to make a smart comment in Spanish to another lady in front of me. I drove all the way over here because I had a taste for breakfast. Welp not anymore. Upon walking in there were 2 ladies that had been sitting and waiting for about 10 minutes they said. The last time I came to this establishment it was great. This time it was dirty and the wait was nuts. Half of the restaurant was "closed off" as she put it. I opted for the small booth. No problem. She comes and says to us, I'm just letting you know I can't put a chair at the end. "Ok" I didn't ask for one. She said ok I was just telling you so there will be no misunderstanding. Ok. I didn't ask for one and didn't plan to. But thanks. She proceeds to keep saying it. I said ok, you know what? Tell them I don't even need that booth. We are leaving. I don't want to patronize any establishment I have to tell wait staff how they should speak to a customer. Geez. Until Ms. Bianca has an attitude adjustment or a transfer I nor any of my friends will either. And I hope you have a great day. Update 2/16/20 Tonight has been like day and night compared to the other times we have come here. I swore I would never come back but, my husband decided to bring me for the tres leches pancakes. Anyway. I'm glad he did. My night has been wonderful from the food to the service. I wouldn't ask for anything better. I would recommend coming later in the evening. That aren't as packed. Maybe that's the key. ;) read more

Traveling on Christmas day doesn't leave many options for breakfast. However... We were thoroughly impressed with this IHOP. The line was long, but our wait was only about 20 minutes. Everyone on the staff was pleasant (despite having to work on Christmas and the insane amount of people in line). And, the food was way better than I expected. It's been awhile (30 years+) since I've eaten at an IHOP. I'd go back for sure. We almost didn't try it because we tried calling and the number didn't work. But, give it a whirl. read more

Breakfast is always pretty good and the wait staff is friendly. Make sure the hosts gets your name right when signing in.

Food is trash, cooks don't wear gloves, servers/mangers pick up food and put food on plates with bare dirty hands. They don't wash the pop nozzles so your drinking dirt. The ice be having hair and bugs in it. read more

If I could give them no stars, I would be happy. I have never left IHOP feeling satisfied. I took my family there for breakfast and it was simply horrible. The turkey bacon had a chemical taste, the pancakes were dry and cold and the omelette was just nasty. Hit. The. Spot. !!! Our group of six was seated immediately and our server (Mika) deserves a raise for how awesome she was!!!!!!! IHOP - Crispy Chicken Sandwich - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Merrillville, Indiana

Kind of hidden location. Ihop has lost it's pizazz over the years, in my opinion. My granny treated the fam to breakfast and this was her pick. Fast service today, Chris our waiter, took our order in his head! Super impressive , didn't forget a thing! Cool points to him. I order a country omelette. I'm not a fan of onions but I wanted the meal as it came, thinking that the onions added a special flavor or something. I was sadly disappointed. I hate onions and will always opt out on them. Besides my omelette being crunchy because the onions, it was stuffed with diced ham and hash browns and lots of cheddar. The size of the omelette made up for my onion blunder so I was still satisfied. I guess you won this time ihop! read more

I'm not one to 'star' poorly on yelp, but I love this franchise and I believe this specific location is far from the standards that you see in other stores. Our server wasn't bad and our food arrived in a timely manner. However... overall, the store is maintained poorly, the floors were greasy, tables sticky, and found an onion on my "clean" glass. The waitresses were arguing about who was going to take tables and we watched a couple leave after they sat for ten minutes without being attended. The point of this message isn't to bash on them, but to bring attention to the manager or franchisee. Improvements need to be made in order to restore typical ihop standards. read more

We are sitting here waiting on our food and the servers are talking and laughing loud. As they are doing nothing, my wife is still waiting on her coffee.
