We do not eat at IHOP very often simply because we don't have one close by. But when traveling through Alamosa, our granddaughter asked if we could stop. To our surprise, this restaurant is above average in friendliness and food quality. We were seated right away. Our order was taken in a timely manner. When our food came, the order was exactly correct. We had a very short wait for the food to come. When it arrived, it was hot and delicious. Our waitress, Debra, was friendly and efficient. I am a local patron and since it opened food and service is going downhill. Last couple of times depending who you get for a server does not get my wife or my order correctly. After they take your order, again it depends on the server is non existent. I believe partially due to management worried more about labor cost than good customer service. When it first opened there was plenty of servers and now I just see 2 to 3 doing the job of 6. Food quality has also suffered and overheard a manager bragging how many cooks he fired over the last month. My hot tea was warm and they will serve you hours old coffee unless you complain. Food many times recently has been undercooked or the taste seems off. I will not be eating here until I see this particular restaurant ratings go back up to an acceptable level. read more

I was hesitant of heading to this IHOP given the previous reviews, but you truly can't go wrong with IHOP in general so we went anyway and did not feel that the poor reviews were deserved. We were seated on a Friday morning within two minutes. Our server was nice, just a bit more on the quiet/shy side. She was attentive with refills & checking in. The others who helped her bring our food out from the kitchen were especially sweet & helpful in bringing out condiments. Sunday morning just before 10 am. Told us there was a 25 minute wait. We got in to seating in 15 minutes, however it was another 20 minutes before we got our water and coffee. Our server was sullen and unhelpful. Our wait for our food (omelet, burger, and chicken fried steak) was about average. I didn't finish my omelet- the sauce seemed "off". I ended up ill in the restroom within 15 minutes of the first bite. My party tried to pay while I was sick, however our server disappeared. Disappointing doesn't begin to cover it. $4/cup for a Swiss Miss cocoa packet, made with lukewarm water and still-clumped powder? Mug was barely half full -- whipped cream didn't top the rim. Won't order THAT again. My husband got frozen fruit on his now-chilled (rather than hot off the griddle) french toast. (I've also experienced that with crepes/waffles, which is why I avoid strawberry anything). I'd previously learned that even though I like over-medium eggs (whites fully cooked, yolks half-cooked), I have to order scrambled at IHOP: the whites are always runny. We ordered the new Gingersnap Milkshake for dessert. The ad says (and clearly SHOWS) mixed with caramel drizzle and cookie crumbles. We got served a plain vanilla shake, with a tsp worth of cookie bits on top of the "whipped cream." We ate through the whipped cream layer and had several bites of the ice-cream beneath (thus no doubt making it look like we were eating it, although we emptied less than 1/2 of the glass and left the other half in the metal milkshake cup untouched.) When the server came by, we asked for clarification. She apologized, said she was new, and apparently attempted to comp the shake. (Thank you, since it's not what we ordered/wanted at all, and far from what's advertised!). When we got up front to pay (she hadn't brought us the bill), we wanted to ensure the shake was removed, so we explained to the hostess what had happened. This rude woman nastily informed us, first: that the special menu was new, so it's no one's fault that it came out wrong (to which we wondered, is ordering off the special menu like Russian roulette, that maybe you'll get what you order, maybe you won't?!); second, after talking to someone in the back, Hostess told us that the Gingersnap Milkshake IS just a vanilla shake -- that the minuscule topping is all that's supposed to be there for the significant up-charge. While the server had (unbeknownst to us) removed the shake from our bill, the hostess put half the charge back on!! False/misleading advertisements, incredibly rude service, and very disappointing food. We will NOT be returning. We understand that inflation is ridiculous, and it's not necessarily the local management's fault, but $50 for one of the worst dining experiences the two of us have had since Covid? Nope. We strongly suggest that you take your money and your patronage somewhere else... anywhere else. read more

After 6 hours of driving my family and I were excited to stop at a place we knew we would get fresh hot coffee and good food to keep us going. NOPE, the only good thing we received was good service from Salina. Our coffee was cold, old, and watered down. The scrambled eggs were not even cooked all the way through.
