Mary and I stopped in for take out. When we got home it was nothing but disappointment. The sweet and sour chicken had no sauce on it and included one tiny half full container of sweet and sour sauce, enough for about a quarter of the order; the whole order should have been stirred in sauce before going in the box! The chicken was overcooked and chewy. The fried rice was just rice, couldn't see how it was called fried. The garlic chicken was standard. The egg rolls were standard; there was a tiny cup of mustard with a few drops on the bottom!

Came in for some quick eats and left sooo full and happy ! The food was absolutely delicious !! The Garlic Chicken was so spot on , with a dash tasteful saltiness and the fried rice was so savory ! The lo mein had smaller noodles than I'm used to but man were they well seasoned. Our service was so great ! Our server has such a nice attitude ! The ambience was homey and just so soulful !

Fried rice that is really brown rice.

They get 2 stars for service because they were accommodating and friendly. But food was terrible. Panda Express makes better food-and that is not saying a lot. I know people in the Valley don't know any better- but this is not only underwhelming, the wantons and fried spring rolls are definitely not made in house. Their "fried rice" was white rice twice cooked with oil to make it look brown. Nothing in there either. Overpriced and really beyond disappointing. I only wish Alamosa had decent Asian food options but they are ALL terribly sad.

We normally get to-go meals from Lucky Bamboo. Today, we wanted to eat at the restaurant. Upon arrival, we were immediately sat at a table. Our server came to our table right away to get our drink order, then when she brought our drinks took our food order. 5 minutes later, we got our soup bowls, then as soon as we finished them, we got our food. As expected, food was delicious! Service was a well-oiled machine! As we sat at our table and ate, the doorbell (letting the owner and staff know someone just came in or is leaving) kept dinging. It s a very busy restaurant! We were there for lunch, but nobody was left standing or waiting for a table. Tables were cleaned immediately after customers leave. There are many tables available for families, couples or singles. If your table is in the section close to the entrance, there may be lots of hustle and bustle. If you're in the other section, it should be quiet. Lucky Bamboo is the best Chinese food restaurant in Alamosa. It is a must-try for anyone in the area.

Staying in Alamosa for a few days. My AirBnB host recommended Lucky Bamboo so I tried it today for lunch. Opening the to-go box was like opening a gift. Delicious aroma and all this for $11. Everything cooked well - fried items were crisp, meat was tender, veg still crunchy. I also received service with a smile. Always appreciated, especially in a busy place.

This place was outstanding. One of the best places we ate while visiting town. Go early, because we got there at 1130 plenty of seating. Then it got crowded all seats taken by the time we left. Service was great, friendly, & fast. The food was outstanding & we even had some leftovers to take home. egg rolls were fantastic Facilities was clean. If we ever pass through we will eat here again.

Clean, busy restaurant. My only complaint was the egg rolls are really spring rolls. Food was fresh and tasty for a small town. Service was good.

Best Chinese food I've ever had. Service was outstanding. All hands on deck made the service. Smiles and great attitudes.

Recently remodeled, it's a welcoming Asian vibe. The food is top shelf, likely the best Chinese food for 200mi around.

Big menu... sushi, teriyaki, noodle bowls, salads, etc etc We had tom kha gai (coconut soup with chicken), salmon teriyaki and red curry. Soup had good flavor, lots of chicken & plenty of veggies. Salmon was tasty with carrots, cabbage & broccoli. Red curry was VERY GOOD! The star of the show tonight. We drained every drop! Seasoned well for us...a touch of heat and very flavorful. Sadly, no room for dessert... I was eying the Sticky Rice. ;) The table next to us ordered lots of sushi as we were leaving & had obviously been here before. :) Would definitely eat here again!

We didn't get a very peaceful dinner due to the souped-up motors, but it was mostly enjoyable. My significant other and I agree that the sushi place down the street is just a little bit better, but not by much. This place used to exist across the street and further down the road. I verified that with our friendly and efficient host/waiter. Here was our supper of the things I actually tried: Spring rolls ($5.95) - they were okay. My daughter who ordered them wasn't a fan. Crab rangoon - good ($5.95) Egg rolls - really good ($5.95) Mince pork noodle soup - it tasted decent, but I can see why my daughter preferred her pork not minced ($10.95) Top Model roll - very tasty ($15.95) Thai iced tea - way too sweet for me. I didn't even have boba ($3.95). Taro boba tea - not too sweet. The boba was nice & chewy ($5.50). I'd go here again if a friend chose the spot. I'd stick to sushi. No rice noodles for me!

Like most Chinese restaurants, it is mediocre at best. I haven't eaten at many Chinese restaurants over the past 25 year because of the lack of flavor and ingenuity. San Francisco has a couple of good Chinese restaurants and there is Tommy Wok's in Sausalito (at least, as of 2010), but other than that, I am continually disappointed. Shang Hai has very good reviews like many of the restaurants in Pagosa Springs, but the food is not worth the 4.2 rating. We had the Beef and Black Pepper, the Happy Family (Shrimp) and the Sweet and Sour Pork. The restaurant's menu forgot to mention that The Beef and Black Pepper was about 50% meat and 50% green peppers (by weight). In fact, there was no mention of green peppers. On top of having an inordinate amount of green peppers, the peppers were flavorless. The shrimp was okay. There was nothing special about it. The Sweet and Sour Pork was okay. It had too much sugar and not enough sour. Again, the dish was bland. Except for the person seating us (I believe it was one of the owners) we had a good experience with the two servers we had. They had good attitudes and were professional. If you are craving Chinese, I believe this is the only one in town. I cannot recommend Shang Hai Chinese Restaurant.
