The custom jewelry is awesome. What makes IGS Diamonds a terrific place to visit is the people. It's all family.

I've been coming to IGS for years selling my jewelry. Today, I came to sell my silver jewelry and get a new silver chain for a pendant I have. And I don't know the man who "helped" me but I thought he was very rude and was very rushed. And that's incredibly frustrating when I drove 40 minutes to get there. He questioned if I wanted to sell my jewelry because he told me "it's not gonna be a lot are you sure?" When he gave me my receipt to fill out my personal info he threw the paper on the counter and pointed at the receipt pad and just walked away. I knew what he wanted me to do but still you don't act that way to a customer. And then I didn't even get to purchase a new chain because all of there silver trays were in complete disarray and all tangled and couldn't find what I wanted. The woman who helped me look through the silver chains was very kind, patient, and was lovely to chat with. read more

They did a wonderful job resizing my wedding rings especially my wedding band which was engraved. The resizing left the engraved initials untouched. I inherited my Mother's wedding rings and anniversary ring. They designed a beautiful cross using all of my mothers jewelry. It is truly a one of a kind piece and a favorite piece for me. They created another ring for me using other pieces of jewelry that I brought into the store-a custom ring from old favorites. IGS was great to work with, and I hope to revisit someday. I have recommended this business to others and will continue to do so. read more

Ed and his team were wonderful to work with. We needed some last minute repairs on some of our jewelry and he was able to make time for us right away. His prices are reasonable and his work is high quality. We will return! read more

I recently worked with Ed at IGS to find my wife a beautiful pendant and earrings for our anniversary. I had planned to visit a number of jewelers that day and IGS was my first stop. After meeting with Ed, the attention to detail and understanding my needs I went no further. Ed was a pleasure to work with and my wife loved the jewelry! read more

IGS Diamonds is a cut above others in the area. The prices are fair and the work is exceptional. My fiancé can't stop talking about how much she adores her ring and she has many admirers. I have personally recommended IGS to many friends who remark how they're glad they didn't waste time going anywhere else's. These guys are fantastic. They also have a great selection of coins and other collectibles if you're interested in that instead of jewelry. read more

Hands down, this is the place to go for ALL of your jewelry needs. If you are looking for something hoity toity where they offer you a chair and beverage, this is not your place. Ed and his father run a straight forward, cut to the chase business. You go in, tell them what you need, and they make it happen. My husband and I were looking for a particular stone. We had visited a "hoity toity" and they were not able to produce a Rare Natural Alexandrite stone in the quality we were seeking. I heard about IGS through a friend and she and her husband put us in touch with Ed. On the first try, Ed got it right. He showed us three different stones. We were finally able to see what a true Alexandrite should look like. Taken straight from alexandrite.net "The ideal alexandrite is one with a medium tone and intense or near vivid colors; blue-green in daylight to rich ruby red or purple red under incandescent or candlelight." We are now the proud owners of a 2+ carat prominent color change alexandrite set in the most beautiful ring and surrounded by diamonds in a halo and down the shank. Thank you Thank you Thank you IGS for making our dream a reality. We WILL be back! read more

I have been to IGS 3 times: 1st time was over 10 years ago. They were able to get a diamond to my specifications and then make a custom ring. My wife still gets comments on that ring to this day. 10 years ago we got our wedding bands there. Just recently (last month) I got a a ring for our 10 year anniversary. I was able to both explain and show some pictures of what I wanted, and a few weeks later (I was not in a hurry) I had my custom ring for our anniversary. Ed is extremely knowledgeable about diamonds, gemstones and jewelry in general. There prices are very reasonable (especially considering the quality!) Everything I have gotten there independently appraises very well. I will go back for any jewelry purchases I have in the future. read more

Two trips to IGS diamonds for two different yet similar purposes and we couldn't be more pleased. Last summer I customized an engagement ring for my then girlfriend. The craftsmanship and quality were superb! I took it with me from Vienna, VA to Vienna, Austria where I proposed to her at the Schonbrunn Palace. Now my fiance, we had our wedding rings created at IGS less than a year later. I was very happy with the efficiency and quality in which the rings were created. My fiance's ring was forged in the same pattern and style as the engagement ring I got her. Service is very friendly and quality is top notch. I would certainly recommend IGS to anybody who is thinking of popping the question or needs to get their wedding rings. read more

Was looking for a new diamond for my wife and did an internet search for local stores. Found IGS as the highest rated for loose diamonds and was not disappointed with the service and sale. Ed did a great job of educating us and then gave us a very reasonable price on the stone. Wife very happy with the result. The shop is very non-descript but do not let that dissuade you from going in. It was one of the better decisions I've made. I highly recommend IGS for any diamond that you need--it will be worth your time and effort to check them out. read more

Brought a diamond ring in there yesterday, with a stone I intend to sell, only to ask them to take it out of its setting, so I could then send it on GIA for grading. Ended up spending almost an hour in the store getting "Ed"ucated (Ed is, I think, the founder, who told me he retired two years ago, but still comes in every day!) about the stone's unique qualities, its weight, clarity and color, options regarding the setting and the baguettes that are also part of the ring, etc. When Eddie, Ed's son, arrived, the education continued, with great advice from them on which report to get from GIA. They even sent the stone to GIA for me, saving me a lot of time and hassle. Couldn't be more pleased with my experience there -- high levels of knowledge and professionalism, all delivered in a friendly family environment. read more

For many years we have used Ed and IGS for numerous services...appraisals, resetting rings, repair, and creating and fashioning new and unique pieces. Everything is done in a highly professional manner and reasonably priced. We highly recommend IGS Diamonds...and you can't do better than IGS Diamonds!. IGS is a diamond in the rough (sorry bout that, couldn't resist) read more

Ed Jr and Ed Sr were both awesome. The first time we went into IGS, Ed Jr was out. Only Ed Sr was there. Ed Jr took over the business from his dad a while back, so Ed Sr decided to give us a lesson in stones. He showed us all the dimensions, what makes a good stone versus a bad stone, where to get your most value, etc. It was great. He even drew us some pictures that I still have. Once I became an expert in diamonds, I started working with Ed Jr. He searched all over the country and must have shown me 20 different stones. Ed was patient with me as I was trying to get the biggest most beautiful stone for my dollars. And then finally, the most perfect cut right around the weight I was aiming for came along and at a great price. I would highly recommend IGS. They only deal with the best GIA certified diamonds. You won't find any of those shady certifications other local and chain jewelers try to push on you. I would especially recommend them if you are looking for something custom. Their jewelry maker Felix is top notch. He made the perfect ring and we'll be getting our bands made by him to match. Great job guys! read more

We have done business with IGS for more than 7 years. In that time they have done repairs, restringing, antique ring restoration, and redesigning and rebuilding another ring, including doing diamond pave and other stone setting. The service has been excellent, the workmanship expert and the results phenomenally beautiful. I can't believe how lucky we were to find this shop. I guess we have dealt with Ed, Jr. He has given us personalized, professional, and awesome service. You really feel like you "have a friend in the jewelry business." The prices are fair and competitive and you become educated along the way. We couldn't ask for more. Thank you! read more

Great store. No pressure whatsoever. Owner will help you find exactly what you need and educate you on everything. Highly recommend to anyone in need of a diamond or to sell or just to run stuff by. I will be using for any and all future needs. read more

I bought a loose diamond and had it set at IGS about a month or so ago. These guys are absolutely world-class. Ed Jr was the one who helped me through the whole process and he couldn't be a more enjoyable to deal with. I had the impression I was dealing with a confidant and someone that had my back. He's a real stand up guy and I plan to be a long time customer. He provides you with a lot of knowledge and a superb experience. My fiancée was absolutely stunned and so happy with her ring. My only regret is I didn't buy the diamond and the setting at IGS. They deserve all my business. I would strongly suggest giving Ed Jr and the team at IGS a call and experiencing hassle free , candid , enjoyable jewelry buying. I know I'll be back! read more

I first encountered IGS when I tagged along with a friend who was engagement ring shopping. They were completely straightforward and honest, took the time to fully explain the process, and didn't try to upsell him. In short, it was trust at a price that was cheaper than Blue Nile's (and certainly cheaper than the mall stores, etc.). I was impressed enough that I knew it would be my first and last stop when I was in the market. Five years later, that was the case. After I did my research online, I went in with my specs and they were able to exceed my requirements on the 4 C's at a really good price. The process was painless, to boot. I will continue to shop there personally and have been recommending them as "my jewelry guys" to friends. read more

This is my first review ever for a business on Yelp. I cannot say enough good things about Ed and IGS Diamonds. I was referred to him by a good friend of mine when I told him I was in search of a diamond for my fiance's wedding ring. She had a previous ring that was her grandmother's and wanted to use the ring but it needed a new diamond. Ed was extremely helpful finding me a diamond, the price was fair, and the process very smooth. The experience was so great I went back for my wedding band as well as a custom designed one for my wife that fit the vintage look of her grandmother's ring. Once again, a fantastic process. I highly recommend this IGS diamond. Thank you Ed for a great experience. read more

Went to IGS Diamonds after being referred by a friend. After visiting several other retailers first, I stopped by IGS and was thoroughly impressed. The service, professionalism, price, and customer service made the entire experience of buying an engagement ring a breeze. We will be heading back to IGS to buy our wedding rings soon for sure. If you are wanting a no hassle, no pressure experience when shopping for jewelry, look no further than Ed and his team. read more

I purchased my fiancee's engagement ring here about two months ago, and I was so impressed with the entire process. I was planning to purchase both the diamond and the setting online, since I didn't have a very high budget (less than $5k) and was certain no brick and mortar jeweler in the DMV area could accommodate me with a high quality stone. However, I contacted IGS on a whim since I knew they didn't run a large store or have a huge inventory, and the reviews online were stellar. Ed responded right away, asking what I was interested in. I had done a LOT of research and knew what I wanted, and within an hour or two he emailed me the GIA certificate of a stone that fit my parameters. I ran a cross-check against some of the larger online retailers (Blue Nile, James Allen, etc) for a diamond with the same specifications and confirmed I was getting a great price. I visited the store the following weekend to see the stone, and it was spectacular. Since the diamond was on the top end of my budget, Ed worked with me to design a simple setting that was both unique and affordable, and he even offered to ship it to me so I could avoid paying Virginia state sales tax, which saved me another small sum of money. Ed was knowledgable, direct, and honest, and once I met him, I never had any qualms about the rest of the process. Ed and his team began work on the ring, and it was finished within two weeks. In the meantime, I was a nervous wreck. We communicated frequently through email, and Ed was incredibly responsive and patient, usually responding to me within a few hours, sometimes even late at night. Even though I imagine I was spending quite a bit less than the average jewelry shopper in the area, he treated me like I was a customer who was spending tens of thousands of dollars. As I mentioned earlier, not only was I getting a wonderful deal, as well as the peace of mind from seeing the stone in person, but I was getting to patronize a wonderful local business, which is very important to me. We will be returning to IGS to purchase our wedding bands. read more

After seeing the reviews they've obtained from the Washingtonian, I decided to give their website a look. The website was pretty basic in nature without having any real statistics on their diamonds. Regardless of the website's flaws, I decided to get a quote from them. Shortly after submitting the quote, I had a response. I was very happy with their speedy response. However, this happiness was short lived. After the initial email, all of the following emails were extremely unprofessional (lacking proper sentence structure). He became very "pushy" with his sales tactics. Not satisfied with our email exchange, he decided to call me. I told him that I'd like to look around at other jewelers in town before making a decision since his price was quite a bit more than other shops. I also told him that I would get back to him if I was interested. The conversation ended. After a few days he emailed me back, in the same unprofessional manner, asking if I was still interested in doing business with him. Annoyed with his persistence, I told him that I picked another place to purchase my diamond. He then tried to obtain information about the diamond I "purchased". He also wanted to know what the problem was with his diamond. I then told him that he was more expensive and that his sale tactics were way too aggressive. What was his next response you ask? I was completely shocked when his next email asked about the size and GIA number of the diamond. I stopped responding after that. After my experience, I would not suggest this jeweler to anyone. Prices are definitely cheaper at other local venues with the same certification agency. read more

On a recent trip to DC, my husband and I decided it might be a good place to shop for diamonds. We found IGS on the internet and are very happy we did. The salesman (Ed) stayed within the budget we had and showed us 3 different sized diamonds to choose from. He was very knowledgeable and educated us to help with our decision making. I then had the diamond mounted in a setting I choose and Ed shipped it to West Virginia for me so that we didn't have to pay sales tax - an added bonus! The ring was too tight for my fingers that swell but on a return trip Ed had his tech size my ring while I waited which only took about 20 minutes. It now fits perfectly and I get compliments on what a beautiful diamond I have all the time! Thank you Ed! We will certainly plan to shop here in the future for our jewelry. read more

Ditto what everyone else has said about Ed and Eddie. Highly recommend. Husband bought my engagement ring and wedding band from Eddie 10 years ago. Referred by a colleague. Great price/service. Many compliments on color/clarity. Also want to note that both of my rings are encrusted and I am hard on them/almost never take them off; still have all of my dazzling stones, even though I havent taken them back to get the setting checked since my first anniversary. I promise I am coming this year, Eddie! :) read more

I recently had a fantastic experience with my first (and definitely not my last) purchase at IGS Diamonds. Ed was extremely patient and provided me with as much guidance and information that I desired. He was willing to spend as much time that I needed to answer any questions that I had as well as to provide recommendations and suggestions. I left IGS Diamonds extremely satisfied with my purchase and experience. I look forward to next purchase at IGS Diamonds! read more

I have been going to IGS for over 6 years and couldn't be happier with their service and the quality of the work and jewelry. IGS has made new beautiful pieces of jewelry as well as repaired and re-made precious family pieces. Ed Czarnetzky and his team have been my family's go-to jewelers since 2007, and in May, 2012 my boyfriend went to IGS to get my engagement ring. They worked with my him and designed the perfect ring and band within our budget. IGS has great people, fantastic quality, a huge selection of diamonds, and great prices. This is why I continue to recommend IGS to my friends and colleagues. Best jeweler in the Washington, D.C. metro area!! read more

I worked with IGS on my fiance's engagement ring and then for both of our wedding bands. They are great! They are personal, they help you make the right decisions based upon your style and financial situation. They were a joy to work with. IGS is the only jewler I trust. Ed and his platniumsmith designed and made my wifes engagement ring and we couldnt be happier. I tried to pick up her wedding band at a gem show and got sold a pile of junk, at the last minute IGS came to the recue, Ed got the perfect ring made quickly and saved out wedding! We had spent months looking for the perfect engagement ring and went to every big name and reccomended jewler in the area, once we met Ed we knew we were done searching. read more

These guys are incredible--I have brought a couple of watches in to be fixed and am always treated right. I will not go anyplace else! read more

We were referred to Ed at IGS by a friend that raved about his experience. And I must say that he was absolutely right. Ed is wonderful to work with and they employ true artisans that can make anything you desire. Even better, their prices can't be beat. I went there for my wife's engagement ring and recently just returned to purchase a diamond eternity band...and again he knocked it out of the park.
