Our son joined Ignite in February of 2021, mid pandemic, when Ignite was operating via zoom classes and outside in a church parking lot. It's been a long wild ride for everyone involved, especially these resilient kids on their journey to black belt! Our family experienced online training, outdoor training, training in their interim location at Epicenter where we watched our kids practice from outside through the large glass windows, and over the last year we've loved and enjoyed their beautiful new studio location where we can all gather and enjoy getting things back to normal. Communication is bad. Took me a couple emails to get a response inquiring about registering my 10 year old son after he witnessed a class in session walking by their window he begged me for days to go back so that he can learn "karate". The owner finally emailed me back and offered a 1 on 1 assessment for my son to meet with a trainer to figure out what class he should be placed in as I explained my son has an intellectual disability. After confirming with her that we would be available to come in on the date she offered I just never heard back again. I sent 1 last email to try to confirm and no response. I want to believe that the owner did not discriminate against my sons disability and that there is just a lack in professionalism or maybe business is just that good there is no need for new clients? But if the owner can't even take the time to respond back I guess I'll never know. I'm just so glad I didn't tell my son about the 1 on 1 cuz he would have been so heart broken had I had to tell him he can no longer go. read more

I don't have any children of my own that belong to ATA, nor do I go myself, but I know many families that have their children enrolled and I have gone to the belt testing nights many times. And I have to say Kristen and all her staff do an amazing job with these kids! Not only do the instructors teach the kids martial arts (which is amazing to watch), but they teach them self respect and respect for others, manners, and self confidence. And did I mention Kristen does an anti-bullying seminar in the local schools? She teaches the children how to identify when someone is being bullied and how they might be able to help or stop it from happening. This place is awesome! My son has been here for about 8 months now. The instructors really care about the kids and the instructing does not stop at the classroom. You take home "good habit worksheets" that they actually read and discuss with your child and help them improve on it, which they follow up on and make sure your child is behaving in AND out of class. I cannot say enough good things about the instructors. Mrs. Medina, Mr. Banuelos and Mr. Masklyne (sorry if i spelled any wrong) really do care about the well-being of your children. ATA not only teaches you how to defend yourself in real life situations but it also teaches you great life skills (respect, courtesy, integrity, etc.) The instructors are amazing people and know what they are talking about.
