Ignite is the BEST! Having not grown up in Sonoma County, I had no knowledge of the local martial arts schools and was feeling overwhelmed with where to enroll my oldest child. We were lucky enough to have been invited to a free class by a friend! Ignite exceeded our expectations in every way! We were warmly greeted by Ms. Medina over the phone and had a lengthy conversation about the enrollment process for our 5 year old. Our son had a great first meeting and assessment with her and he loved his first class. We felt the enrollment and payment process were really transparent. We couldn't wait to have our son enroll and benefit from the structure, respectful communication, physical challenges, and discipline that comes from Tae Kwon Do at Ignite. The classes and teachers are amazing! Ms. Medina, Mr. Comiskey and Mr. Fragoza are the most dedicated, focused, energetic, patient, and inspiring teachers to our son and the classes we have seen him in. They have high expectations for positive behavior, body control, respect, and hard work! During this pandemic, Ignite didn't miss a single beat when immediately transitioning to a very stable distance learning model and working hard to meet their student's needs. Our son has continued training in two classes a week with a bonus private lesson that is one-on-one! He is continually motivated by seeing Mr. Fragoza and Mr. Comiskey each week and it is a huge source of confidence for him, on top of being a physical outlet. Ignite has communicated clearly and effectively and they were always available to assist us when navigating the apps or websites to learn from. We hope more people discover how amazing Ignite is. read more

We started at Ignite a few months ago, and so far it has been great. It's nice to have a time for my son to practice attentive listening skills and have a safe place for punching and kicking as a young physical boy. Also, we did parents night out for the first time recently, and it's a great resource that they offer for members! 3 hours of fun for kids with dinner, and parents can get some time together. read more

We have been at Ignite for almost a year and love the community that Master Medina has created for her students and their families. All of the instructors are great-- Mr. Van Cleave is wonderful at correcting students' forms in an encouraging way that makes them feel like "even though we did it wrong, we can still do it the right way!" as my 5 year old says. Ms. Deramo honestly needs to be a school teacher because her enthusiasm is infectious and sooo fun especially for the younger students. Mr. Fragoza is just great all around and is amazing at teaching the kids and inspiring them to learn more. My child has definitely improved their focus, confidence and self defense skills since joining the Ignite family! read more

I strongly recommend Ignite Martial Arts! The instructors do an amazing job and have a lot of patience when it comes to teaching children confidence, discipline, and respect. My daughter has been attending Ignite twice a week for the past six months and has built a lot of strength, stamina, balance, and speed. In addition, even though she is currently active in other sports and has to sometimes commute for more than an hour to get to class she is always looking forward to learning new self-defense techniques from her favorite instructor Mr. Fragoza. read more

Our son joined Ignite in February of 2021, mid pandemic, when Ignite was operating via zoom classes and outside in a church parking lot. It's been a long wild ride for everyone involved, especially these resilient kids on their journey to black belt! Our family experienced online training, outdoor training, training in their interim location at Epicenter where we watched our kids practice from outside through the large glass windows, and over the last year we've loved and enjoyed their beautiful new studio location where we can all gather and enjoy getting things back to normal. It's been really nice to finally experience all of Ignite's pre-pandemic fun and community that everyone has always reminisced about. My son loves everything about Ignite, from his own personal progress, his awesome supportive instructors, his classmates he considers his "Ignite family", fun tournaments, and all the extra fun studio events throughout the year such as holiday parties, summer parties, summer camps, and parent's night outs! read more

We love the community, the events, the instructors and most of all the confidence and body awareness it has instilled in our son. We cannot wait to enroll our younger son when he is old enough! The bully self defense, and stranger self defense training has helped us to start great safety conversations with our kids and make me feel more confident in their ability to grow more independent when we are not around! My Grandson has been training with Ignite staff since he was almost 4... he is now 7 and just attained his Recommended for Blackbelt level. This school has given him an understanding of his ability to take on responsibility for his success. There is an attention to detail and encouragement that is uplifting and if I can say loving. He loves what he is doing. It is hard work but he is so proud of himself. As his Grandmother I am brought to tears watching "my little love bug" FIERCLY take on EXCELLENCE. He is beautiful artistry in motion. So proud of him.... And it is all about the Instructors. Great staff read more

Ignite Martial Arts - The whole family is learning taekwondo together. Terrific family activity and everyone is taught respect for everyone. - Taekwondo Near Me - Santa Rosa, California

The owner and staff have really done a good job with this karate studio. My shy, not very physical 6 year old girl loves her time there. They are very good at working with kids at different levels of physicality. They focus on confidence, body awareness and respect. One of the best trainings are based on how to handle a bully, another one focuses on how to get away from someone who is "not my dad." I am very impressed. read more

Horrible school. Just in it for the money. A lot of favoritism. Owner guilt trips you in to staying with her school and makes empty promises to the kids. ATA is a much better Martial arts school then her Ignite Martial Arts. Do not recommend this school BIG disappointment. Be more picky where your child goes. There are a lot of Martial Art Schools out there. read more

My son has been training at Ignite for 2 years now, and the mentorship has helped him become more confident, outspoken, and able to stand up for himself. Mrs. Medina has a strong philosophy for her taekwondo studio that goes above and beyond learning the forms to self-respect, respect for others, honesty, and integrity. The longtime instructors are easy to work with, have high standards for the students, while at the same time are caring and encourage students to push and grow. We tried out several other martial arts studios before we decided on Ignite, and you just can't beat this community of teachers and students. Yes, competition can be important and exciting as part of your training, but the instant feeling we got from day 1 at Ignite is that there is so much more to training than that, and character development is at the core. read more

My entire family takes classes with Ignite Martial Arts and I couldn't be more impressed by their professionalism, kindness, and dedication to the families who learn taekwondo at this studio. Ms. Medina is not only an outstanding teacher but a great business owner who communicates well with parents and has been extremely creative during this pandemic to keep offering a wonderful program online. Ms. Fragoza and Mr. Comiskey are patient, funny, skillful and my kids adore them. My kids don't enjoy doing online classes, but they show up for every online class with Ignite because they are passionate and dedicated, which they get from their teachers. Ignite Martial Arts has a family feeling that extends so far past just being a martial arts studio. As a parent, I feel supported by Ms. Medina and her staff. As a participant in the adult class and boot camp, I feel empowered and glad I'm staying healthy even while we're at home! I highly recommend Ignite Martial Arts to people of all ages. read more

Communication is bad. Took me a couple emails to get a response inquiring about registering my 10 year old son after he witnessed a class in session walking by their window he begged me for days to go back so that he can learn "karate". The owner finally emailed me back and offered a 1 on 1 assessment for my son to meet with a trainer to figure out what class he should be placed in as I explained my son has an intellectual disability. After confirming with her that we would be available to come in on the date she offered I just never heard back again. I sent 1 last email to try to confirm and no response. I want to believe that the owner did not discriminate against my sons disability and that there is just a lack in professionalism or maybe business is just that good there is no need for new clients? But if the owner can't even take the time to respond back I guess I'll never know. I'm just so glad I didn't tell my son about the 1 on 1 cuz he would have been so heart broken had I had to tell him he can no longer go. read more

I don't have any children of my own that belong to ATA, nor do I go myself, but I know many families that have their children enrolled and I have gone to the belt testing nights many times. And I have to say Kristen and all her staff do an amazing job with these kids! Not only do the instructors teach the kids martial arts (which is amazing to watch), but they teach them self respect and respect for others, manners, and self confidence. And did I mention Kristen does an anti-bullying seminar in the local schools? She teaches the children how to identify when someone is being bullied and how they might be able to help or stop it from happening. I'll be sure that when I do have children they will be enrolled in ATA with Kristen and her staff. Kristen is an angel! We are lucky to have such an amazing instructor in the area!! Thank you Kristen and ATA staff! read more

This place is awesome! My son has been here for about 8 months now. The instructors really care about the kids and the instructing does not stop at the classroom. You take home "good habit worksheets" that they actually read and discuss with your child and help them improve on it, which they follow up on and make sure your child is behaving in AND out of class. I cannot say enough good things about the instructors. Mrs. Medina, Mr. Banuelos and Mr. Masklyne (sorry if i spelled any wrong) really do care about the well-being of your children. I could never put a price on the amount of respect, self-confidence and the good habits they help us instill in our kids. This place is truely amazing and Mrs. Medina's passion and love for what she does makes her far superior to any martial arts class. Thank you guys, you guys rock! read more

I have been enrolled here for now 5 years and it is by far the best experience I've had in my whole life. ATA not only teaches you how to defend yourself in real life situations but it also teaches you great life skills (respect, courtesy, integrity, etc.) The instructors are amazing people and know what they are talking about. The owner/ lead instructor of the school, Mrs. Medina, is a very hard working and lovable person. She is the reason I am where I am in life and I've met the people I've met. Without this martial arts school I don't know where I would be today.
