Just know that you won't save time calling first. The lamb gyro platter was enough for two meals. It was spicy but tolerable. A lot of lamb and rice. Not too much salad. They did not have the chicken biryani so tried the brown stew chicken. That was really good. Very moist and flavorful. We had asked for rice and beans, cabbage and plantains. We got yellow rice, cabbage, and collards. The cabbage was on the sweet side and cooked perfectly. Still had a little crunch to it. The collards were good. Nice amount of spice. Was really looking forward to the plantains though....next time...

I found Aamir's Halal Jamaican kitchen in the Country Club Plaza Shopping Center and walked in to check it out. Service was with a smile and the menu laid out on the cashier counter was extensive. I opted for a lamb gyro with white sauce wrapped in a thick pita. There were only two tables for eating in, so I had my gyro bagged for home consumption. I also too a chance on a pineapple ginger drink that appealed to me. The lamb load was enormous, well grilled and heavily spiced, with lettuce, tomato and onion filling the capacity of the premade pita. With the white sauce squirted over it all, it was actually more than I could consume in one seating. I enjoyed it, it was a situation where less would have been more. The small shop was designed for takeaway, and it accommodated a steady stream of customers going in and out. I enjoyed the Jamaican patois coming from the kitchen, which gave the restaurant a very pleasant atmosphere. Four Skas and a bag of Reggae

Island Treat is located at the end of a 5 store shopping strip. The front windows are plastered with calling card ads that many international/ethnic groceries would have. The interior consisted of a long counter filled with various Jamaican/Caribbean products. The woman working was very friendly and greeted us with a large smile as we walked in. The menu is on a small "bulletin board" with only a couple options. They offer Jamaican/Caribbean dishes such as jerk chicken and curry goat, as well as offering beef patties. You have the option of three different sizes, small, medium, and large. I settled for the jerk chicken and a beef patty. You also get a choice of two sides with your meal and I got rice and beans (one side) and cabbage. They also have other sides like collard greens, macaroni and cheese, etc. The whole meal came out to be less than $6 (I'm pretty sure). Back at the office, I started with the beef patty which was made well (if it was even made at the restaurant)...it was flaky and tasted great on the inside...unlike some of the ones I've had in the past. The jerk chicken was pretty good. Tasted great with the rice, beans, and cabbage. The small size take out container seems really tiny, but at the end of the meal I felt full. Verdict? Definitely a keeper. While not the best jerk chicken I've had, the service was quick and friendly and more importantly the food was delicious and a pretty cost effective lunch option.
