Emphasis on "super"…read more This used to be a Loblaw's, but the Provigo chain has undergone a multi million dollar project to expand, rebrand and renovate some of their existing stores. The Saint Sauveur location is a star child of this facelift. You're entering a 64,600 sq. ft. showpiece that is bright, well lit and spacious. Upon entering you'll first notice a massive patisserie counter with cupcakes, macarons and other gourmandises. Fresh produce will be a few steps behind. The new concept has a selection of "boutiques" along the perimeter, like a deli counter, charcuterie, oyster/shrimp bar and cheese counter with the prettiest 2 feet tall glass fridge containing an impressive array of local and imported cheeses. There is also a Joe Fresh collection of apparel for adults and children. The Loblaws/Provigo brand excels in going above and beyond to turn grocery shopping into an experience. The food is premium and gourmet, sampling stations are delish. Everything was taken into consideration, there's nothing boring or traditional about this store, even the floor is a popping orange. To make your shopping trip more enjoyable, the couple times I went over the holidays, they had a live jazz band playing! If you were dragged along and didn't feel like shopping, take a seat at the cantine and make use of their free wifi! Yes the prices are higher than what you would find at other grocery chains, this location caters to tourists and skiers - however if you're purchasing specialty goods, it is worth it, you'll find things that are uncommon elsewhere.

The location took a bit of getting used to since it's in more of a residential neighborhood and I'm staying in the city center, but it got easier to find after the first visit. Accessibility was a little tricky at first, the fully accessible entrance with automatic doors closes about two hours earlier than the rest of the store. When I arrived the first time, the staff were incredibly kind and helped lift me and my wheelchair over the small step at the front, which I really appreciated. Once inside, the aisles are spacious, well-marked, and easy to navigate with a wheelchair. Anything that was out of reach wasn't an issue at all because the staff were very friendly and happy to help. We made it work with their English and my French, which made the experience more enjoyable. My return visit the next morning was much smoother since it was daylight and I already had a sense of layout. The staff were even friendlier the second time around. The hot food was really good--maybe not as much variety as I'm used to, but still very satisfying. The chicken wings were fresh, hot and well prepared, the potato wedges were well seasoned, large and hot! Checkout was quick and easy, with registers at both the front and back of the store. They also accept all forms of payment, which made things convenient. Overall, a really positive experience, especially because of how helpful and welcoming the staff were.

Shopped there when vacationing at resort in St. Hippolyte (Auberge Lac Morency) in the Laurentians…read more(Les Laurentides). Visiting from Toronto. Shift supervisor or lead cashier Nathalie was extremely rude and aggressive on Oct. 5, 2021. My wife was unaware store closed at 9 due to incorrect information on the door that said it closed at 10. Nathalie did tell me when I walked in at 8:45 they close at 9, but my wife walked in 10 minutes earlier and said she wasn't told. Even if she had told her, my wife probably wouldn't have understood because, unlike me, she doesn't speak French. That was an honest mistake by the store and I don't expect them to say "sorry and we'll let you shop until 10." I have no issue with that. But for her to act like a wicked witch and tell my wife and others to stop what they are doing at 8:55 and go to the cash, following my wife in the process, while not offering her any assistance even though it's obvious she is handicapped and walks with a cane, is totally unacceptable. When at the cash I explained to her in French that my wife was trying to say that the sign at the front says store closes at 10. But Nathalie rudely interrupted me, said she doesn't speak English (even though she knew very well I was speaking French and would have been able to understand me had she been paying attention and not screamed at me and interrupted). As a matter of fact, I think she did understand me, but she pretended she couldn't. Had she not understood me she would not have said the discussion is over and told me to "get out." But she did both. To my credit, I did not get out and paid for our groceries. Good thing for IGA I didn't because had I my wife wouldn't have paid for them, they would have had to have been put back on the shelf and Nathalie would be in more trouble than she is likely already in. I was polite and she was extremely rude. But even if I wasn't polite, she still would of had no business talking to me like that. The worst thing I did was tell Nathalie it's rude to tell someone talking to you in French you don't speak English. Of course I had an English accent, but it's obvious I was speaking French and working hard to do it. And how could she not of understood me if she got so nasty? She didn't like me telling her she was being rude, but I politely told her that and had a right to. You don't treat customers the way she treated my handicapped wife and I, no matter how good you think your reason is. And you have to be even more careful when dealing with customers who have mobility issues like my wife and speech defects like me (I talk fast and loud because I have Tourette's and Asperger). Otherwise it makes us wonder if people are being discriminatory. The other staff were nice and helpful and both the owner, Genevieve Bilodeau, and manager Diane were pleasant when I spoke to them on the phone the following day about the incident.
