My son just turned 4 on July 12, so we bought the family pass for all 6 of us to fly and celebrate his birthday. It was the kids' first time. They were intimidated at first, but our flight instructor, Kirk, put them at ease. One day later, our son (4) and daughter (14) are asking when we can go back. The whole thing took about an hour after you sign all the waivers, training, and suit up. The flight time varies on what you buy, but 2-4 minutes feels like forever in the tunnel. You don't need to bring anything special, just pay attention to the dress code on their website (pants, no collar shirt, close toed shoes, etc.) Free lockers are provided to secure keys, wallet, purse, phone, etc... My favorite was watching my kids do something they have never done before. In some cases, conquering their fear of the unknown. The next best thing is learning to fly and actually being in the tunnel. My least favorite is the actual expense. It is definitely worth the price, but not sure how to afford enough time to make it a hobby. Our instructor, Kirk, was awesome! iFly was a great experience for my kids ages 11 and 13. I really enjoyed flying as well. The front desk customer service was great. Everyone was so kind and upbeat. The process may seem to take a little bit of time so show up a little early to get it all done. Our flight instructor was Greg Levin. He was a pro. I tried iFLY for the first time in Austin. What an experience! Nothing can prepare you for it...the amount of wind and how loud it is and just how you'll feel as you try to float in the wind tunnel. It's really amazing! I can see how the thrill of the experience and the desire to be able to do all the maneuvers and tricks that the pros do can make it addicting. Luciano was my instructor. The dude is awesome! Not only is he a badass at this, he's a really good instructor, and a down to earth nice guy. He took extra time to make sure I had a clue of what I was going to be doing when I got into the wind tunnel. He also uses a "hands off" approach to help you learn while in the wind tunnel. I mean he gives you a chance to try to adjust yourself before grabbing onto you, so you have a better chance of learning what you need to do. I went with my friend who had gone before. My friend said that his instructor the first time he went was no where near as good as Luciano, and so he was able to get way more out of the experience his second time. We got a few rainy days in Austin on our visit, and iFly was the perfect way to keep an 8-year old happy! If you've ever thought about doing the indoor skydiving, don't hesitate. It was incredible! The highly trained instructors are all very skilled, helpful, and want you to have the best experience possible. Luciano, our instructor, was such a great motivator, coaching us along on every flight, getting everyone into the best positions to fly. And fly we did! Can't wait to come back and try it again. Went with a group of 12 to celebrate an anniversary, and it was definitely a unique experience & a fun event. But I can't really rave about their customer service. We prepaid when we booked. One of our participants (a 9 yr old) decided when we got there that she was too scared, so we were told her time would be spread out to everyone else. Well it wasn't (p.s. there's a timer in the booth, so you can tell how long you're in there). Afterward I was told Stacy would contact me to work out a credit so we could come back and use the minutes or a refund. After a few emails, they're adamant we used it and will not give us even a credit toward coming back again. If it were a few bucks, I wouldn't care, but that's over 50 dollars! With as much money as our group spent, one would think the right thing to do would be to agree with the 11 customers who are telling you we didn't use it. I guess not. read more

Lots of fun, even more so doing it with my 10 year old grandson, who loved every second. You really do float and can even get a sense of how to move through the air - although on your first flight you're just trying to get the basics of staying stable. You are in a loud wind tunnel wearing ear plugs, goggles, helmet and jumpsuit, you have to keep your head up and your arms and legs just so; lots to pay attention to and lots not, but still there is the thrill of leaning into the wind, putting your arms out and--just like in your dreams--floating on air. You can watch others do it beforehand, both newbies and experienced skydivers who are training, and that in itself is fun. There is always someone taking a turn, timed to the second. Flyers are in line and there is no down time (except when the wind accidentally turned off for a minute while we were there). Before you fly you get trained in a classroom by the guide that will be in the tunnel with you helping to position you and giving you hand signals. All the equipment is provided, they have lockers for your valuables, it's all well designed and thought-out, and the staff seem upbeat and capable. My complaints, beside the high cost, are about legalities. Basically they have all the rights and you have none. You have to reserve ahead and pay full non-refundable price. No cancellations, and limits on rescheduling. At flight time you sign a bunch of legalese that you were not told about at time of payment. They do tell you beforehand not to fly if you have dislocated a shoulder before. But when I was filling out the form it asked if I had neck problems. I entered on the touch screen that I did, and it asked if I had a doctor's permission to do the flying. Of course not, since they had not mentioned it before! I entered NO and it said unless I changed my answer I could not fly. So I lied and put down no neck problems. Then it said to confirm I was the parent or guardian of the accompanying minor. I went back to the enthusiastic young girl behind the counter. Oh, if you have the parents' permission that's good enough, she said. Okay, but there was nowhere on the form to put that. I just had to lie and say I was the parent or guardian. Then I had to agree that they could use any photos or videos of us for promotional purposes. I went back and told the girl I did not agree to that part. Well, you have to sign the whole form, she informed me. No I do not, I informed her, since they had said nothing about that when they took my money. The manager had to come down and produce a paper form where I was able to opt out of that part, and he assured me they would track our flight numbers and remove them from any promotional material. Right. Then I had to sign that it was okay if we got injured, maimed or killed and that I was giving up any right to legal action against them. That really sucks. They could screw up, you could get hurt, and you'd be SOL. I can't recommend you use a business with those kinds of legal policies. read more

Took my son and 6 of his friends for his Birthday. Everyone had a good time. My son was a little freaked out after the 1st run and didn't want to go on the second round. They said that there are no refunds, which I wasn't expecting for something like that, but they wouldn't compensate in anyway other way either. Fare enough I just chalked it up to a one off thing. This past Fathers Day my daughter bought me a ride. I was excited to go. Mostly because on the second ride you get to go up the tube! My instructor was very nice, but they failed to mention, until after we were done, that he was new and was not allowed to take guests up the tube. This was 90% of why I wanted to do this in the 1st place. While we were changing we found out that the DVD (an additional $15) burner was down and they would mail us our DVD. Again I understand these things happen and they said that they would include the pics with the DVD. Then as I walked down stairs my wife was talking to someone at the front desk about me not getting to go up the tube. They said they would include some free pics as compensation (which I find unsatisfactory). I told the person that we were already getting free pics because the DVD burners were down. He said "I am terribly sorry but that's all we can offer". I just got the DVD and guess what...no pics. Also the DVD did not include my second ride. It ended before the last couple of people flew on the 2nd round. Upside: Overall the it was a fun experience, the staff is friendly, the facilities are very nice. Downside: I could be wrong but it seems a bit pricey for 2 one minute of flights (Especially if you don't get the tube flight), no refunds, poor compensation when there is a problem ( my thought is that iFLY ties the employees hands on policy issues - which I find a little greedy). I thought I'd comment first about the negative reviews below. 1. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but it's not like you're taking up a hobby where you'll be spending this amount every week. I have enough expensive hobbies with bikes and cars. This is, for most, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience skydiving. Can't put a price on that. 2. legal jargon. Look people, no matter how many legal documents you sign, you can NOT sign your basic rights away. If you get injured and it's CLEARLY the result of faulty equipment or a careless employee and it's on video, legal disclaimers cannot protect them. You cannot sign away your rights. But if you're an absolute klutz with no balance skill or basic concept of following simple instructions, yes, you can get hurt. The instructors are professionals but they can't be responsible for your two left feet. This isn't a free ride (not talking economics here). It requires some work on your part to control your body. Not a lot, mind you, but you're responsible for following simple instruction. If you can't do that, then sit on the side and just watch and enjoy the show. that said, i highly recommend requesting Devon as your instructor, if possible. We received a complete package GC over a year ago for Christmas and I can't believe we took so long to use it. What a great experience from beginning to end. The instruction given by Devon was top notch. For beginners, his K.I.S.S. technique worked flawlessly. While waiting for our instruction we sat watching others seemingly struggle a bit their first time out and I was very nervous about my first time out. Devon took the time to keep it basic with our group and once we were in the wind tunnel it all felt so natural and the nerves went away. What a great time. I took my son here for his birthday this year. Overall, a fun experience, but not something I'd repeat, and not worth the money. You get in line with a bunch of other folks, hop into the wind tunnel, and float around awkwardly for a few minutes. Pay extra and the host holding on to you in the wind tunnel will take you up higher into the tunnel and perform some mild acrobatics with you. You get a video of it all when it's over. You also get a lot of upsell after it's all over, and you're strongly encouraged to come back and take further "certification" courses (amounting to hundreds and hundreds of potential dollars) that eventually lead to you being able to do things on your own in the wind tunnel, but for me it was all a one-trick pony. Biggest problem I had with this place is that both me and my son got sick with a cold a day or two after visiting. You have to wear special headgear when you're in the tunnel, and while I'll never be able to say for certain, I suspect it was an unclean face mask that spread the bug. read more

My star rating is an average of two ratings. Financial: 1 star. $60 for 2 minutes of actual flying is pricey. We tried to cancel and get a refund but were told they would charge us a change fee to rebook and they don't give refunds. Be very certain that you and everyone in your group are available and ready to fly. Everyone must sign a waiver stating no neck, heart, shoulder etc health problems (would they refund $ if you did have such health problem???) Flight Experience: 4 star. The downside is the wait time. You have to be there an hour before your flight time then they didn't start on time. It is fun to watch the flights in progress while waiting. Eventually your group goes to a class room for a 10 minute preflight training on body position and hand signals. You are then provided with ear plugs, goggles, helmet and flight suit. Then more waiting until your groups turn in the flight chamber. All the instructors are wonderful, seem to really enjoy their job and seem well qualified. The instructors provide more hands on if required or let you be more independent if you are able. Each person in the group gets 1 minute in the flight chamber with the instructor, then waits in turn for their second 1 minute flight. At the end of your groups session, the instructors perform a fun demonstration in the flight chamber. Everyone in our group had a wonderful memorable experience. It looked as though every participant in the building had a great time. Awesome time but buyer beware. read more

So January is my son's birthday and instead of a party we decide to spend the day in Austin. He's ALWAYS talking about boy stuff: guns, joining the Army, becoming a policeman, shooting bad people, AND skydiving. Sometime last year I had gone up to Austin with my friend for an interview and I drove around while I waited and i saw the huge billboard advertising for it. Perfect for my son I thought when I saw it. Finally, January rolls around and I purchase the tickets online (very easy and simple). When we told him what we were going to have him do my son was super excited. Unfortunately, I could only pay for him, so my daughter was all bummed out, but boy it was fun watching. First off, it's pretty easy to find and the staff was super friendly and helpful. You go upstairs and you just wait until your time that you signed up for is called. In the meantime, you can see everyone as they're trying it out. Finally when they call you for your group's turn, they take you in a little room and you watch a video, they tell you how to position yourself, Q&A, etc. Then you put on your outfit, helmet and glasses and wait on the bench. My husband and i were all nervous wondering how my son would do. we picked the package that was with 2 trys...the first time he wobbled too much, but he second time he did much better. This is where it got fun, they got another instructor, Ivan, and they turned up the power full blast and he swings everyone all the way up to the very top...oh it was fun watching. It's even more fun watching the instructors and the professionals do tricks. I LOVED it here and i know my son did, too and that's all that mattered. was it pricey? yeah, it was (for us anyway) but when all your kid wants to do is try something like this, it's sooooooooooooo worth it! instructors were cool, knowledgeable, and they love their job! (btw, my son's heart broke when he found out you have to be at least 18 to sky dive from a plane...he's got 10 more years to go!) read more

Checked this place out last weekend and was a lot of fun. Fun for all ages and no skill or experience needed. I remember a fearless tiny girl maybe five years old volunteered to be first in line to go up and made us older guys all feel embarrassed. This was my first time so I did two 1-minute flights and the tail spin up. Instructors were great and had easy basic instructions to follow. This is a truly phenomenal experience, and anyone who attempts to claim otherwise is bat-shit crazy. I had the privilege of flying with my dad while visiting my parents for Thanksgiving. The building is nice and clean, and the staff is so friendly and positive that you can't help but be stoked for your flight. My instructor was some dude with awesome hair and sweet shoes and didn't make me feel like a doofus when I didn't know what I was doing. Although you only get a short amount of time in the tunnel, it feels longer than it is and the instructors are great and help you to make corrections accordingly until you've grasped the ability to fly with little help. I most definitely recommend. I wish there was one in San Diego, but there's not. So I'll be back. read more

Friendly staff, reasonable prices, military friendly and priceless are just a few things that come to mind when mentioning IFly in Austin Texas. What made this such a memorable experience was the automatic welcoming and greetings from the front desk. After getting things situated with waivers for myself and my daughter we were damn it directed upstairs as we were able to partake with other participants that were in the process of applying. Our instructor, was nothing short of awesome! He was very patient good to everyone including my daughter and another participant who was autistic.. needless to say, I had an incredible time for a God my side I didn't think that I could fly that high but I was wrong! My daughter being 6 years old, was a patron it left a lasting mark on both her and my son who was a little sick in the harder it is and watch from the side but I think it was a fire underneath him but he will be able to experience it the next time around. This review is only as a purchaser of a beginner flight package for someone else, and an observer of the indoor dive: This looked like an awesome experience. I bought a beginner flight package for my Dad who is visiting town. When I called to ask questions, (twice) the people who answered the phone were incredibly helpful. Their website is pretty informative. However, their website's reservations AND waiver aren't working right now and they are working out the kinks. So, I did have to call and actually schedule my reservation - and we did the waiver the previous evening to find out we had to re-do it when checking in today which kind of sucked. Anyways.. My Dad's instructor was Dan O. and he's a great guy - really friendly and gave a lot of good information, and was really positive in his feedback about how my Dad and the other people in the party did. He's a great instructor! Right before the flight time, they had a bunch of instructors doing a lot of cool moves..it was really neat to watch. The beginner's session is basically getting some flight time, (I bought the $109 package with the extended flight sessions of double the minutes) and feeling the "tube" - learning the hand signals and being guided by your instructor within the tube. You don't get to do any advanced moves or anything - but all in all my Dad loved his experience and already wants to do it again sometime. I can see how this could become addictive! I'm also really glad that a DVD of the entire experience came with the package I bought because my Dad got to see himself in the tube which was cool. So was it worth the money? Hell yes.. and I completely recommend getting the extended minutes package though it is more expensive. Time goes fast, (as I assumed) during your turn and the more time you get to be in there, the better time you're going to have. A friend of mine was visiting from Pennsylvania with her 8 year old daughter. We decided this would be a fun experience for their trip to Austin since PA does not have anything like this. We booked our session to include the high fly (definitely do this if it is your first time). The whole experience was a lot of fun and I would absolutely recommend others try it; however, you have to be prepared that the actually fly time is really short. That is the biggest downside that I paid roughly $75 and you only "fly" for two minutes. Other than that, the entire experience was hands down great! read more

The whole experience was not pleasant. I went here with my AFF instructor, I had wanted to practice stability and forward and back movement. The tunnel instructor was great and very helpful, but, the gentleman controlling the tunnel had some deep rooted problems with my AFF instructor (there is some history). He had started with arguing with the tunnel instructor and then my AFF instructor. A very uncomfortable situation, eventually they had hashed it out and came out with a plan. But, my problem was that he went about it all very wrong, it was the most unprofessional experience I have had, I did not feel comfortable being there, nor safe after that. No need to be yelling and cussing loud enough that I could hear from inside the seating area of the tunnel. At the end of the day We had paid not just for training, but for an experience, and though I did learn a lot, I did not want to be there and do not want to return. read more

They will tell you that is totally safe and that they are professionals. My wife and I tried it and she had a terrifying experience. She fell about 15 feet straight down and hit her back and head on the floor (it's just a chicken wire). The instructor admitted his fault but to what avail? Watch out for your loved ones. I came as part of a surprise family trip and had no prior knowledge of the plan, it took some convincing but I finally decided I would try. I was struggling with my AFF (skydiving licensing course) free fall objectives such as stable flight, turns, etc. I had to repeat level 3. After working with Nick and Waz, the light bulb came on.
