HUG BBQ I first…read morediscovered HUG BBQ through Instagram and decided to give them a try -- and I'm glad I did! I've only done take-out so far, and the experience has been solid every time. Ordering at the counter is quick and easy. Depending on how busy they are, I usually wait about 10-15 minutes for my order to be ready. The longest I've waited in line before ordering was maybe five minutes, so definitely not bad at all. The staff has always been friendly and helpful, even if occasionally a little distracted by the action in the kitchen (understandable -- it smells amazing back there). I always check my order before leaving, and it's been correct every time. My go-to item starting out was the Sheri's Super Spud -- I always get the two-meat version with brisket and beef sausage. And wow... that potato is huge. Easily feeds two or three people. The brisket usually has a perfect bark and seasoning, though occasionally it leans a bit salty for my taste. But more often than not, it's just right. The sausage is excellent -- a coarse grind with a nice snap from the casing, just the way I like it. I've also tried the Pork Ribs, and they've earned a permanent spot on my order list. Tender, moist, and packed with flavor, with just the right bite off the bone. One little thing I appreciate: they give a generous amount of BBQ sauce with to-go orders -- not the stingy portions some other places give. If you're in or near Lancaster and looking for great BBQ, definitely give HUG a shot. Friendly service, big portions, and solid flavor all around!

Ended up stopping by for BREAKFAST! (Breakfast is served from 7am-10:30am.) Nothing overly fancy or reinvented, just a solid classic breakfast done fresh and to the point. It's a small BBQ spot (though there's plenty of seating inside) with that local feel. The griddle sits right behind the deli line so you can watch everything being made fresh, pancakes, sausage, potatoes, and eggs being made to your favorite doneness on the skillet beside it. We ordered Brad Breakfast and Breakfast Special with a side of gravy. Everything came out hot, fresh, and fulfilling. Tall stack of pancakes were so fluffy and warm. The staff was friendly and welcoming, even during the morning rush. One thing to know beforehand: they do get busy, and the line moves quickly, so they definitely expect you to know your order once it's your turn at the counter. Simple breakfast done right.

Listen... if you want fresh, made-to-order breakfast that tastes like home (and not that "fancy brunch with overpriced avocado toast" nonsense ), you need to slide through Hickory House where the griddle's hot, the vibe is real, and the locals have been loyal since the big hair and boom box days of the '80s. Now, let's give flowers to the MVP Mike, the owner and head cook. His customer service? TOP. TIER. He's got jokes, good energy, and a memory that could put AI to shame. This man will remember your order before you even sit down. It's giving small-town celebrity chef energy. Now let's talk FOOD because, baby... it's not just breakfast .. it's an experience. I had The Brad Breakfast: ham, bacon, sausage, cheesy scrambled eggs, home fries with onions, and buttery toast that just melts in your mouth. My son went with the Short Stack: two fluffy pancakes with bacon that disappeared faster than a TikTok trend. Everything is cooked right in front of you on the grill ! No heat lamps, no reheats, no games. Just hot, fresh, greasy goodness the way breakfast should be. And can we talk about the prices?!! Lancaster, keep your gem close because Hickory House is serving five-star flavor on a neighborhood budget. I washed it all down with an Arnold Palmer (because balance, darling ) and left full, happy, and plotting my next visit. So if you're in Lancaster, TX, don't walk -- RUN to Hickory House. Breakfast, community, and vibes? This place understood the assignment before it was even trending. Hickory House ....where nostalgia, flavor, and sass all meet at the grill. #BreakfastGoals #HickoryHouseTX #LancasterEats #SupportLocal #SouthernBites #MadeToOrderMagic #YelpEliteEats #BrunchWithoutTheBougie #FoodieApproved #TexasBreakfastLove

With formalities out of the way, I make my second coming on Yelp by way of reviewing Brisket City Craft BBQ and you're welcome. Our society has long accepted that I am nothing short of Barbecue Jesus with standards higher than Mt. Everest. When I drive past the likes of Dickey's, their staff tremble at my mere presence within a few hundreds yard of their establishment. I have shut down subpar BBQ joints with just a glance. I have ruled DFW BBQ reviews with an iron fist that shows no mercy to any heathen who dares to dishonor the culinary masterpiece that is Texas BBQ. Nonetheless, I decided to take a few of my friends (very important dignitaries, Victoria's Secret super models and others who can't get enough of me) to Brisket City...and found this place to be an ABSOLUTE GEM. Their brisket is a solid 11/10... cooked perfectly, moist, proper smoke ring, the right bark and immaculate flavor--a rarity around here. Finding such BBQ in DFW let alone Ellis County is rare. I have decreed that this places makes my top two along with Hutchins in Frisco. I shared some gentle recommendations with their staff on considering non apple cider vinegar based sauce as an alternative, albeit inexpensive addition that would appeal to wider palettes but we all know that real men don't put sauce on their meat anyway so no points deducted there but felt it was important for me to advocate for the trans community and others who must have their sauces. I must now tend my other affairs, but leave you with my strongest endorsement of this proper smokehouse. It's worth the trip. Until next time...

There's a huge yard out back with plenty of picnic tables, which makes it perfect for hanging out when the weather's nice. Inside, the space is small, comfy, and neat. It feels well put together without trying too hard. There's even a fireplace that adds a nice touch--no idea if it's actually working, but it fits the vibe. The staff here really stands out. Super friendly, very polite, and they keep things simple--you order at the corner, grab a seat, and they bring the food out to you. Easy and efficient. I went with the brisket taco, and it delivers. This isn't a tiny street taco--it's loaded. You get brisket, salsa negra, avocado crema, and pickled onions. The balance works really well. The salsa brings some acidity to cut through the fat, while the crema smooths everything out. Every bite comes together nicely. As for the brisket itself, the seasoning is solid but not overly aggressive. Personally, I'd like a bit more bark--it was a little thin for my taste. That said, the smoke ring is very prominent, and you can taste that deeper smoke flavor. Texture-wise, it was very tender--easily cut with a plastic fork. I did catch it later in the afternoon, and the lean slices were just a bit on the dry side for me. Overall, the vibe here is awesome and the tacos are legit. This is a spot I'll definitely be coming back to--looking forward to giving the brisket another shot, plus trying the pork ribs and some sides.
