McSwain Carpets & Floors

McSwain Carpets & Floors

Never had the most traumatizing and awful experience like I did with McSwain Carpet & Floors. It…read morehappened with my first order with McSwain on Tylersville Road, West Chester for my carpet. I received a call that my carpet was ready for pick up, sent the installer to pick up the carpet and was told the carpet is not ready for pick up. This delayed my installation. Imagine calling to inform me that my order was ready for pick up, made a trip there and was told it is not ready I have to wait for another 2 days? Absolute incompetence! Placed another order, no one called me that my carpet was ready which I was told I will get a call once it is ready. I placed a call and was told my carpet is ready for pick up, sent the installer to pick up the carper and my installer was told the carpet has been picked up. I did not pick up the carpet. I placed a call to know what happened to my order and Jeanne told me they entered the wrong info that its been picked up when it hasn't been picked up and now I have to wait till Monday to make another trip to pick up the carpet. Such level of incompetence and utter disregard for customers time. Zero apology, Zero remorse, Zero explanation! Never had such a crazy experience before. This is the most incompetent, subpar, traumatizing place I ever dealt with. NEVER EVER will I come here to buy any damn thing nor my family. I'll do well to share my experience about McSwain anyone that ever talk to me about carpets. I hope that the head of McSwain sees this and is well aware of the folks running his business because this is the most bizarre level of incompetence.

Kim, our sales rep was very helpful and treated us with courtesy at every step in the process. Our overall order was timely and accurate and the installers were extremely qualified and proficient. Plus, they were very pleasant to work with. They left our house in excellent condition as cleanup was great. We cannot speak highly enough about our whole experience. Jim and Joyce Dineen

William came to our house on a weekend to look at the damage, understand our needs and leverage that against our budget. He came back with a very detailed quote that outlined the scope of work, expectations and costs. William and team acted quickly to remove the drywall, floor, subfloor and insulation impacted by the leak. They sealed off the impacted portions of our house and installed HEPA units to dry out and remove mold from the air. Once the mold was removed CRS got to work on the restoration. They installed a new subfloor, tile floor, new drywall, painted the room and installed new cabinets, countertop and shelving. We had some change requests throughout the course of the project and William updated his quote when required. Pricing was fair and the workmanship was great. We love the final product.

The company was a complete letdown. Promises were made and never kept. They could not have been any…read moremore unprofessional. They pulled us in at first by promising everything we needed. We tried using them for mold remediation in 4 rooms and I called to be put on the schedule and was told 3 times that they would call back later and do so but no one called. I then left four messages to no effect. I went with another company and got the job done in 3 rooms plus the hallway and still had one left. That company charged 9000. The company that finished part of the house was busy so I called CRS back to see if they could do the last room and I explained we had a deadline to get rid of a storage pod that was in the driveway. We told CRS that the complete room would be taken down to the concrete slab and all walls would be removed and everything rebuilt. We showed him the tile we were going to use and he complimented us on it. We thought it was wise to be on friendly terms with the contractor since we wanted a good job so we had to listen to him for 45 minutes telling us about his pumpkin carving contests he has been in in his life, complete with a ton of pictures from his cell phone. We smiled and pretended interested. William assured me that they could start November the 3rd and that he would come out everyday the 1st week and then he was going to be at a pumpkin carving contest the next week but said his foreman was fully capable of finishing the job by the deadline. If we had more time, the previous contractor was going to do the job for 3500 but we went with CRS to our total dissatisfaction whose price was 4700 higher. They changed the start date several times until it was a week later. They did start their set up of equipment on the 10th of November and on the 11th my family had a meeting with our city's building commission because they want the pod taken away or they are fining us 250 a day. I called CRS while I was in the meeting and Susie confirmed they could get the job done in 2 weeks so the city gave us an extension on having the pod. In the contract, just as we had told William during his coming out to give an estimate the tile was to be removed. The contract spells out 127 sq ft. I asked the foreman one day when they were tearing out the tile and he said they ran out of room in the truck that day so it would be the next day. The next day he said they were not touching the tile so I called the secretary and she had to call me back later after she found out the answer and she assured me they were taking the tile up. The next day the foreman said again they would not touch the tile and that the secretary would call me later but she did not. The next day I was told she was going to call but again no call and at the end of the day the foreman said William ans his wife would call me Sunday but that did not happen. We instead hired a guy to tear the tile up for us. When the dry wall was taken down we saw that the mold was only on that which was removed so no other treatment was needed. CRS was supposed to have done a pre mold remediation sample as well as a post mold remediation sample but never did so. They did not sand the frame which we were charged for 393 sq ft nor did they have to apply anti-microbial agent to 520 sq ft, all which they charged for. On the day the drywall was removed I had the insurance agent come. The foreman downplayed the extent of what was done and concentrated on getting insulation added to the bid at the expense of insurance paying for wall and floor removal. In fact CRS communicated so much behind our back to the insurance company that the check will be about half of what it would have been even though CRS's invoice is a lot higher. For lack of space I need to be more brief on the rest. After being told not to use our toilet 3 guys used it in the 90 minutes they were there and some used paper towels and clogged it up. We have spent under 4k to a plumber. CRS raised the price on the flooring and said he charged initially for low grade but the invoice from the start said high grade. When I told him that, he said I was idiotic. The whole conversation he yelled & over talked me. Another day he and his wife screamed at me when I reminded them they also charged for 12 hours of content manipulation which did not happen and he over talked me and said I was not being a man. They took 6 weeks and are not done. Every day they said the time they would show the next day but 9 days they did not come, 3 days they looked at their progress and the other days were only half days. There are several things that they messed up on and they said my brother can do it. The guys never wore a mask and the last week the foreman was deathly ill. He could not walk straight and almost passed out at one point. The contract says they get paid the last day but the job is not done. He not only threatened to sue us and put a lean on our property but he also threatened me with bodily injury. Don't use them.
