Since (now 6 months) I've used the slow cooker on a few occasions. Recently I made soup and all went well until the next day when I attempted to warm the soup up for it's finish... my slow cooker became a no cooker. I was crushed however the soup must go on and we survived. I consulted the Robert Dyas website for returns/faulty items and their policy is one year providing no damage and other reasonable T&C's. I called Customer Services and they were so nice and happy to help. The process was "easy peasy" and for that I'm a BIG FAN. This American Southerner says Robert Dyas is one fine place to shop and down-right honorable to their customers, y'all!

A wander through one (a different location) let me in on the news that they've got lots of homewares and cooking gadgets and such. In stocking up for a big Thanksgiving gathering next week, I popped into Robert Dyas at Southside to get a few extra baking dishes and replacement gravy boats (because those things do not hold up to transatlantic moves and also, having 2 is better than 1. Mmm...gravy). Really helpful and friendly shop staff and while the prices aren't the best across the range, there are certainly good deals to be found.

How so? How so? I've been eating with plastic forks and all I needed was to pop in here and all my civilized desires would be fulfilled? Done. Score. A pretty large selection of home items, kitchenware, small appliances, hardware necessities, light decor, odds and ends...and basically you've piled up a bunch of stuff in a basket before you know it. I need everything! Bring it on, Robert D. Bring it on. Well priced (can surely score a deal) -- and they also have a web site for those folks that want to shop in their jammies. Free delivery offers on the regular (this one was 40+ quid to qualify). So nice to have knives! I cut some cheddar cheese last week with an exacto knife, things were getting ugly. Will def be back.

The great thing is they have quality items that are relatively inexpensive compared to a lot of the other DIY stores around. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and were a great help to me when I was doing research of stuff to get for my new flat. Oh dear! I think I need to review my review!…read more Today I went back to Leyland SDM to pick up various bits and bobs we needed to fit our new kitchen. The shop IS really well stocked, but for some reason, the staff were terrible today. They were rude, uninterested and one of them suggested the wrong thing for me twice(!) I am so glad I called my other half to check!! As I was paying, I realised they had undercharged me by quite a lot (they wanted £11 instead of £35) I told the man at the till that I think he undercharged me, as I didn't want him to get in trouble. I wish I didn't bother!!* At first he was really touchy and rude about it (!) he then he said he'd give me a £15 discount for being honest (yay!) this turned out to be a 15% off discount, that he didn't manage to work properly...so he only reduced my bill by 81p. Ah well. *If that happens again, I'll keep quiet and be dishonest... as long as my tendency to blush doesn't give me away!!

They also have a paint mixing service and downstairs they also stock bathroom and plumbing accessories, shower heads and radiators. Its really fun to wonder round and look at all the bits and bobs that people need at home. They have buckets or baskets to collect what you need as you tour the shop floor, and if you don't really know what you need, the guys that run the place are friendly and approachable, so even though they look like big men - don't be scared, they really are nice and helpful.

Very professional and efficient indeed. I had a wired…read moreDeWalt drill, which stopped working after I used for plaster mixing. I changed a fuse, but it remained out of order. I found this company on Google search and filled an online estimate request in. Ray called me on the following day. He clearly explained: (i) possible causes of fault and repair price for such cases; and alternatively (II) a couple of choices of a brand-new similar standard drill, specs and price for each; I opted to the repair as I wanted to know what happened to my tool. He arranged a tool pick-up immediately. Then a person came to pick my tool up as scheduled. In a week time, I received a call from a technical expert. He explained the reasons and the status of my tool and his verdict is that my drill would not work properly even after repair. He offered a similar range of tools and I chose the one of the same manufacturer. The price was very reasonable (70 pounds), which was lower than my original drill I bought in 2008. In a few days, the new drill was delivered with my old one. Neither pick-up/delivery costs nor repair work cost was charged, but only plus VAT. I am quite satisfied with the quality and efficiency of their services.
