These are all basic questions but extremely important. There were certain muscle groups within my back region that I mentioned, and she really found the trigger points, and spent an appropriate time, while still working on other quadrants within the whole body massage. She took a lot of time massaging my scalp, forehead and back of neck and shoulders, while I laid on my back. Sooo nice and soothing. Thank you, Denise! That was the best massage I've ever had, (and I promptly scheduled another massage with Denise during my next visit to Erie CO). My daughter is scheduled for a prenatal massage this weekend. She told me that the owners were so nice on the telephone when she schedule my visit. This was our first experience with The Body Bar, and she's happy that I enjoyed my "birthday gift", and glad that I had a great experience. Tom - Pittstown NJ

Both times I have had massage at Berkana I've driven home a new person. Feeling ... relaxed. Calm. Feeling new. Soooooo ... today Matt was my massage therapist (student). You never would have thought he was a student... I've had hundreds of massages... and this "student" was in the top echelon of massage therapists. Spot on timing, techniques (especially the stretching .. some new to me and utterly fantastic), and a great listener as to what I needed. Thank you, Matt. Now .. Berkana. I know this facility is top-top-top notch for education and training of massage, and advanced massage. The vibe, the air, the space .. instant relaxation. You forget the worries of the world. I escaped so many things when I walked through the doors. Professional, yet sensitive, and I'm lying here on my couch (5 hours later) still feeling like a wet, happy noodle! Whether you want an excellent education or an excellent massage ... Berkana. I will be be back!

The training seems to be consistent, because I get the same excellent care every time I go. From beginning to end, I have been in good hands (pun intended) every time I receive a massage here. You have to activate the account again and cancel with 30 days notice to avoid being charged an additional $120 or more depending on your membership level. In addition, they make it difficult to cancel. You have to request a membership cancellation form and then send it back to them either via email or in person to officially cancel. This is obviously meant to be a barrier to canceling. When I spoke to the GM asking if she could explain their policy that only active members can cancel, all I was told is that it is corporate policy. I asked again if she could explain WHY this is corporate policy and she told me she had and that "I wasn't accepting her explanation" and proceeded to say "I'm sorry about the confusion or whatever this is." These are direct quotes. If customer service was better and if their corporate policies weren't designed to scam clients out of additional money when wanting to cancel, I would recommend them. The facilities are lovely and they have great massage therapists. It's really too bad. Do not spend your money here.

For the last…read morefew months I've been receiving massages from Jessie, and miraculously she has been able to right the wrongs that I have perpetrated against my body. This is amazing news, because I have no intention of slowing down or stopping the things I do, as I'm an adult, and I do what I want. An incredibly important aspect of my experience thus far is that Jessie has made me feel comfortable from day one. Getting naked under a sheet and having a (strange) stranger touch you may be normal for some people (who are you people?), but not particularly for me. I was nervous at first, but that was quickly diffused when the message began and we dove into conversation. I can honestly say that I've come away from every session feeling rejuvenated, relaxed, and ready for a nap. For these reasons, I would highly recommend Jessie for your massage therapy kneads. I absolutely intend to continue seeing her for as long as I live in CO.

I came to her feeling extremely burnt out on work and life, in general. I needed help finding balance, and she really helped me learn where I was holding on to stress both physically within my body and emotionally. This massage was like none that I have, and frankly I think every massage should be like this! I am so curious about the training and experience necessary to become as highly perceptive as Rebecca is. I may not have been *cured* the same day (nor did I expect to be), but she gave me a hell of a jump start and tools to carry with me. On top of that, a previous PT session with another person (not Matt) had been a little too rough -- something we didn't realize at the time -- and it made everything worse. The pain spread down my spine and into my ribcage until I couldn't sleep, couldn't move without crying, and couldn't even take a full breath. I was at the point of desperation. From the very beginning, Matt showed extraordinary care. He offered to extend my appointment by an additional half hour, even though he could have easily taken a lunch break. That simple gesture told me everything about his dedication to helping his patients. He didn't just place needles and walk away -- he began with skilled acupressure, using his hands to release and reset tension before transitioning into acupuncture. His approach was thorough, thoughtful, and clearly based on deep knowledge of the body. What impressed me even more was how detailed and holistic he was in his intake. He took careful notes, asked questions that went beyond surface-level pain, and even checked in about possible emotional factors. That meant a lot to me, because in my own work I know how often emotional pain manifests physically. To have a practitioner who not only recognizes that but makes space for it was truly refreshing and healing in itself. And then -- the results. By the end of the session, I could breathe again. For the first time in days, I felt my ribcage expand without pain. He also taped me with strong KT tape to support my healing in the days that followed, and each day I continued to improve. The shift was immediate, but it also lasted, which says everything about the effectiveness of his skill. Matt is not only kind and compassionate, but he has the kind of presence and bedside manner you'd hope for in the very best doctors. He's incredibly well-educated and generous with his knowledge, happily answering every question I had about his work and his field. You can feel his passion for this medicine in every word and every touch. I cannot recommend Matt highly enough. If you are in pain -- whether physical, emotional, or both -- give yourself the gift of working with him. He is deeply talented at what he does, and I sincerely hope he continues this work forever.
