Worst experience I've ever had…read more I had an appointment to get my hair done with Sam. I had ombre hair and wanted it touched up and brightened, I thought he understood me and he mentioned highlights so I said that would be fine to have a few natural highlights through because I stressed many times that I wanted a NATURAL look. Over the next four hours he proceeded to colour my hair and tend to other customers through my appointment which resulted in me having colour left to develop longer than it should have. One colour was supposed to be in for twenty minutes and ended up sitting in my hair for about an hour. Also his english was rough and he barely spoke above a whisper even while blowdrying right by my ears which made communication that was already tricky at best even worse. Not to mention the fact that I could barely understand him, he washed my hair with gloves on which was extremely painful, was very rough, didn't blow dry my hair properly so it took about 30 minutes to blow dry, and again was extremely rough to the point that I was almost in tears. Also he and the manager were bickering while he was washing my hair which was uncomfortable to be around. Halfway through I noticed that the colour on top of my head was orange and the highlights were white blond coupled with the bottom of my hair dark brown. I asked if the colour would change and he said it would lighten...but it did not. While he was mixing more colour another stylist asked me if I liked it and she could tell I didn't. She communicated this with him and he told me that if by the end I wasn't happy he could do certain things to fix it. By the end after another horrible hair washing experience and drying I looked like Christina Aigulera from her "dirty" days suffice it to say that it was not natural. Also as for the haircut he spent about 5 seconds snipping a bit away (the haircut portion alone costs 60$). I communicated that I didn't like the colour and he offered to fix it but at this point four hours in I was about to scream so I paid and left. He told me to come back in if I wanted a change. Two days later I called and asked to make an appointment and speak with the manager since I wanted it fixed but I wanted someone different to fix it since I could barely understand him. They made me an appointment for four the next day so I called at 11 that day to speak with the manager and explain the situation. She assured me that it would be fine and she would fix my hair. She told me to come at 3:45 to allow for more time for the colour. I arrived and she (Karen) told me she would be a few minutes as she had to tone someones hair so ok no big deal I waited. FIFTY MINUTES went by with noone speaking to me. Finally I went to her and asked politely if I should come back. She did not even apologize and told me it would be another ten. Eventually I was seen. She asked me about what I had previously communicated to Sam and I explained even though I felt like she was blaming me the whole time. Then she told me she couldn't lift the dark brown from my previously blonde hair as it would damage it even further so I had to settle for that. What followed was FIVE hours of basically waiting around while I was tended to here and there while she did, I kid you not four other full haircuts. Two mens including wash and dry and two womens including colour and highlights. By the end I was sitting under a blowdryer with dry hair while she cut someone elses hair. Sam the original stylist I didn't want came over and offered to cut and dry my hair because she was busy and by this point it was nearing close. I appreciate that this was very nice of him but it was super awkward for me. I don't like confrontation and even coming back to get my hair fixed was a big deal for me. In the end he finished my hair and I left in a hurry. They didn't charge me for fixing it nor should they have, I would have tipped but not after the service I received. This used to be my go to salon but now I will never go back. I felt like I was pushed aside as a nuisance when I had legitimate concerns and paid over 200$ the first time I went in. Coincidentally my friend happened to go a few days later and also had Sam for a cut and had a poor experience as did her sister with another stylist. I'm not sure if the stylists need more training or what needs to change there but it shouldn't have been the customers problem. I HIGHLY recommend avoiding this salon.

After a couple of years of red hair, I decided it was time to treat myself and change my look a bit. Knowing the girls here do a fantastic colour I called and was able to book with Amy just two days in advance, which was awesome. When I arrived I was greeted warmly by their lovely front desk attendant (whose name I wish I had gotten - she was super sweet!) and was asked if I could like anything to drink. I barely had to wait 5 minutes before Amy popped over and ask me what I was interested in doing. I basically told her I had a few ideas but would love her expertise. My hair was a dark auburn, so I wasn't sure how much of the colour would lift, but I was in good hands with Amy. She used several colours, a lightener and finished it off with a toner. The colour came out perfectly. A warm mix of brows, blondes and a but of red left it. I don't think I've ever been this thrilled anywhere else. Bonus? AMAZING scalp massage...I think I may have floated off the floor! Amy knows what she's doing and is a totally cool girl - they all are. The shops is full of positivity and fun. The atmosphere is one of the best I've encountered in a salon - funky, artistic and girly, it's the perfect place to rediscover yourself. They always have awesome music playing, and today Amy and I rocked out to Alanis Morisette's Jagged Little Pill. So awesome! As V noted, they do free touch ups. While my colour was setting a young lady popped in for a bang trim and they welcomed her warmly and she was there and gone within 10 minutes. I think this is a super thoughtful extra touch. If you're looking for an awesome hair transformation along with amazing staff, this is the place to go. Located in the Glebe across from Olga's Deli, it's super easy to find. While it's not cheap, I also didn't find the prices crazy expensive either.

Arran mixed a bit of red into a dark mahogany and the colour is perfect for fall! Arran is particularly great if you're not endowed with thick hair, like me. She also has fine hair and knows hot to cut to maximize volume/style. My one gripe would be: no head massage either time when dye is being washed out/hair is washed. This is my favourite part of getting my hair done so kinda a bummer. I'll keep going back for the wonderful 'dos and great staff! Try this spot, you won't be disappointed.

She eventually finished with the cut and the man paid and left. She then called for the woman that had just walked in. She didn't even look at me or ask if i had been served. I walked out.
