Guys haircuts aren't that complex and shouldn't be difficult, but many people mess them up - many stylists have messed mine. Going here, I just tell my stylist how I want it cut and he gets it done and always does a great job with the cut. I am only here in Ottawa during the summers, but I will always get my haircut here.

On the day of her appointment, my daughter showed the stylist (who happened to be the manager!) a photo, which she barely glanced at, then cut my daughter's hair. I acknowledge that my daughter should have spoken up and stopped her but she's a shy teenager and thought that she was just cleaning up split ends. Her hair is noticeably shorter and very obviously shorter on one side than the other. The style is also not what she had asked for. Now I have to make a new appointment to fix the uneven cut (at a different salon). To make matters so much worse, her hair was being styled for her high school graduation photos.

I happily met Roy, and had a pleasant experience with my appointment. Was offered wine, and chatted easily! Long (and expensive) story short, my hair turned out nothing like I had expected. Both cut and colour were extremely choppy, not properly blended and I have a blonde lions mane around my face (so I can't pull it back to hide the two very different length of hair I have). I tried styling it myself, different ways to wear it... but nope. I know that this can happen, and decided not to be rash but instead to let him rectify the situation. I emailed the salon, and they said to come in for Roy to take a look at what needed to be done and we would book the appropriate appointment afterwards. I was satisfied with this response and agreed to meet at the salon today at 6:15 pm. I arrived shortly after 6, was offered water and sat and waited... and waited... At 6:45 I went to the receptionist to say I would come back another time. She offered to go check to see how long he would be. I agreed to wait. I was not prepared for what happened next... Roy came out squinting, looking around as if someone had just disturbed him. Asked, "can I help you?" I explained that I had an appointment at 6:15 to discuss my hair with him. He said, "and you're waiting?" I said, yes but I had been waiting half an hour. To which he replied, "and you have a problem with that? I'm in the middle of a session!" I said yes, that he had set the time. He then turned to reception and said, "I'm NOT doing it!" Dismissed me by waiving his arms and walked away! At this point I welled up in tears. The receptionist was kind and apologetic. Said I caught him "in a bad moment". I reminded her that he was the owner and I promptly left. If you were one of the customers sitting in the waiting area that day, you can attest to his degrading and dismissive behaviour. I am truly shocked anyone would speak to a client this way. Never mind when given the opportunity to retain business and fix a clearly bad hair cut. I couldn't leave this alone, and let his bad behaviour continue. If you are considering trying out his salon or spa, please keep this in the back of your mind. Paying $400 to be yelled at in a lobby, for a terrible hair cut was not at all what I had in mind. Staff kept coming into the rooms where we were complaining to other staff that they were so busy. It made us all feel uncomfortable, they took my daughter an hour after her scheduled appointment. Her hair did look beautiful though. When it was my turn to get my hair done, the hair tech did not understand what I was looking for even though I showed her photos and she still curled my hair anyway. I hate my hair curled. I felt she didn't listen to me and then was a little huffy when I asked her to redo part of it and by the time I left I was so upset. This is my daughter's wedding day, and we all went together to have some fun, and because the spa staff were so late, I did not have time to redo my hair when we got back to the house. I was very disappointed and unhappy with the result, and it was very expensive. All that money for so much ugly. Synergy spa, the things that you were saying in front of your clients and how stressed you were because you obviously overbooked and then did not have enough staff to do the job properly, you made us all feel uncomfortable. In the future, please don't make your problems client problems. I would never go back to this place, and I would never recommend it. If there was a zero star rating I would give that to them instead of the one star I had to give them.

One "stylist" coiffed me like an old lady. The other had no idea how to cut hair around the ears, leaving it bushy instead of tapered. My color was always brassy and too light, and the highlights were not an attractive color. I find Hairtech overpriced for the poor quality of service and the products used.

I have had my hair cut by two different stylists here…read more The first was by the owner. She cut my hair while holding my head forward in a ponytail, and somehow it looked amazing. I went to my parents' house afterward, and my mom gasped, "That is a REALLY nice cut." I have also had her straighten my wavy hair and it still had a ton of body, despite using the flat iron on it. The downside is that the cuts were a bit pricy for my budget, and I like it when stylists take a bit longer. More recently, I was going to Sharon when I was in Ottawa. Sharon is young, hip, and often has crazy hair, but never did anything wild to me at all (I was a grad student and wanted low-maintenance hair). Usually I would tell her in vague terms what I wanted, but once I had a picture... and forgot it at home. Somehow she still figured out exactly what I wanted, and it was perfect. She was forceful and rough while moving my head, and her mean comments about things like my weight were completely unacceptable. I'm pretty sure it was the owner who cut my hair.. The combination of the bad haircut and the bullying left me to cry the entire way back home. 100% would never go again.
