Hi Icon! In response to the reviewer's friends being told they were too loud during the competition last night - come on. Don't negate the entire bar because y'all were told to be quiet. The host of the competition is feisty but also an adult who's quite the professional - you should have better addressed your issues with her on the spot and not put people on blast like that. Funny enough, another queen told me I was too loud and all I said was "thank you for your opinion" and went on with my night. Respect the space of course, but being told you're too loud does not seem to equal a one star rating for such a great establishment (and that establishment includes the host). Icon is the best! Icon is a great LGBT community bar in Astoria I've been going to for the last 10 years. From drag shows, dj and dance nights, competitions and other themed nights as well as good priced drinks... it's a staple of the queer community in Astoria. My favorite nights have absolutely been Fiesta Latina on Wednesdays and Drag shows on Saturday night. Shout-out to some of my favorite Queens who always turn up the night and crowd: my favorite at Fiesta Latina - Freeda Kulo - Essence, Catrina Love Lace and Jaxx. Big shout out to DJ Jenn Love for some of the best music and beats. And thanks to Pedro and the rest of the Icon family for some really fun nights and memories. Keep this going!!! read more

I'm new to Astoria and went to ICON. My friends and I had lots of fun at Jansport's show and won the runway challenge! The drinks and bartenders were great! The door guy Erick, I think he did coatcheck aswell. He is a sweetheart. he found my lost phone/wallet, cleaned our messes and made sure my friends and I were kept safe from some creepy man who tried to harass us. And he gave us all water as we waited for our uber. As a newcomer I had fun. I felt welcomed and I felt safe and taken care of. Keep it up ICON the staff is way more nice here than in HK bars. 10/10! read more

Love Icon! There's a really nice community feeling at this local bar, and there's usually some fun event going on throughout the week/weekend. The bar staff is great, they always get my drinks right and they're very personable. In particular, I looovveee whenever I see Belize behind the bar! They're very funny and attentive, and great at what they do. Would highly recommend you check out this bar whether you want a chill night in Astoria or if you wanna get lit, as the kids say. read more

Honestly this was such a nice place. The staff were really nice and accommodating. I celebrated my 29th birthday here this past weekend and it was such a nice vibe. The music wasn't too loud, my friends and I were able to talk to each other without screaming and the staff even checked in on us to see how we are doing. Icon bar! What can I say? I came here at first to Escobar a hard day, and I've come every week since! Dakota, Marcelo, and Belize behind the bar have you covered whether it's a packed party or a Monday after a hard day at work. The drinks flow and are strong, as well as giving customer service so good you feel more than comfortable asking them for any accommodation needed. Highly recommend for ANY day of the week. This place (and their sister bar Albatross) are like the gay Cheers of Queens. Every time I go the staff and the regulars remember my name. Great dancey stage for thee weekends and always cute boyzzz gay, straight, w/e - my friends and i always have a good time there. There are so many different queens performing almost every night. Misty Mountains, Boudoir Lefleur, Nicole Onoscopi, and Heidi Ho just to name a few. I would highly recommend this place. read more

You know... I don't really go out in Queens. Truly, I don't even go anywhere outside of Manhattan. I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming, cute, and accessible the bar was. Not too far from midtown and worth the trek out if you're looking for something with the potential to be super fun or lowkey. Went out on a Friday night with a group of friends. Super fun and energetic atmosphere with delish drinks (also hilarious cocktail names) and an exciting/upbeat crowd! I actually lost something that night and the manager was so amazing by checking the bar the following day for me and called me as soon as he found my missing item! Ever since the pandemic began, the ownership and staff have implemented great measures to ensure a COVID-safe environment. Icon Bar is the best place to dance and have fun on a Friday / Saturday night without the headache of trying to get in the city by subway and without the no reason cover charge that most bars in Manhattan charge. Dakota, Skip, Chaz, and Nathan are by far the BEST bartenders I've ever had serve me and I will continue to visit whenever I wanna have a good night out. Moved to the neighborhood a couple months ago and this quickly became my go-to bar. Great nights, friendly entertaining bar staff and relaxed happy-hours make for a cool place! The drinks are good, strong (but not overly strong to make them undrinkable) and served extra nice in pint glasses. This was my first time in NYC and my first club experience there, as well. My friends and I had such a great time at this bar. We missed the scheduled drag show but they still gave us a performance (Wednesday night). The bartender Stephen was so great (and insanely cute), as well. Icon is an Astoria classic catering to the LGBTQI community. It is a spirited place that has had "icon"ic queens and always goes all out with Halloween decorations. The staff is always friendly! My favorite bartender is Pedro who is the sweetest guy, and is very accommodating. I definitely recommend this spot if you're anywhere in Queens or want a break from Manhattan! read more
