Well, that's basically nothing more than an old wives tale now, but you can still get a small taste of the experience when you go to iCity repair! And it's not the phony kind of helpful, they've helped me with certain things long after the repair warranty was up at no charge just because I've bee goin there so long... Where TF are you gonna find that kind of thing today?! Nowhere! (I hope you don't mind me bringing that up David, now everyone will expect freebies ). Except instead of a big store, you'll visit a small kiosk under the escalators near the main entrance! (How many times have I seen that commercial?). I'm not even sure how many repairs I've had done here (They've been around a while, and I'm a complete butterfingers) but I'd say it's gotta be at least 15, but not as many as 30... mmm nah, probably not. read more

I had gone there many times for my iPhones and they always deliver. When I went to fix my screen they showed me 2 aftermarket screens as well as the OEM Apple screen. I never knew I could enjoy the experience of spending money on a new phone case as much as I did here. David is such a gem, and I am just so glad we stopped there shortly after my decision to upgrade to the IPhone 11 at Apple. Such a good salesman also, because, yes, I did end up getting the tempered glass, in addition to the case. While deciding if I was indeed going to get the tempered glass, a long time customer who was waiting to be serviced started to tell me about how long he's been a customer there. 5 years, if you were wondering. Rude staff, they can only help you if you have one if the newest iPhones, but I wouldn't trust them with any phone. All I wanted was my phone's screen replaced and the tech I was speaking to just, shrugged and walked away from me. No one else would speak to me, so I just...left. I get their ads on YouTube all the time now, that prompted me to write this review. After dropping my iPhone on my wet driveway, I noticed that I had cracked the screen saver but the phone was functioning fine. I didn't think about it again until it needed charging but It wouldn't take a charge. I cleaned the port and it didn't help. I brought the phone to the Apple store at the Bridgewater Commons Mall where they ran diagnostic software and declared it unrepairable. On my way out of the store I talked to the people across the way, at the iCity Repair kiosk. They said that they could diagnose it for $60.00. I did not have the tools and needed communication right away, so I gave them a try. I returned 45 minutes later and they told me a small amount of water was detected inside. They kept it over night to thoroughly dry it and replaced the battery. I picked it up first thing the next morning charging as good as new. iCity Repair saved me $650 to $950 to buy a new phone. I actually typed this review on the fore mentioned phone. The staff was pleasant, professional, sympathetic to my problem and opened early on a Saturday morning so I could take my phone and start traveling. I love this little kiosk across from the Apple Store. My daughter dropped her iPhone and chattered the screen. I bought it to icityrepair and Sheldon helped me with the repair It was so easy . I filled out a short form which took 2 minutes tops. Gave him the phone he told me come back in ten minutes and it would be ready. ( I asked how much he said $80 to repair.)My husband and I got a quick bite to eat and then came back and the iPhone was as good as new. I couldn't have been happier . Both Sheldon and his associate were extremely friendly and courteous . He answered all of my questions and even suggested where I could purchase a new indestructible iPhone case for a discount. My phone had a black screen and I didn't know what to do but the team at icity we're extremely confident they could resolve my issue. To my surprise they were able to fix my phone! The two guys there were very friendly, had good skill, and making a return was easy. One star for quality and value. I swapped my cracked iPhone 7 screen, but the 3rd party screens they install are nowhere near the quality of the original. Colors are undersaturated and lifeless, and the resolution is low. I could see the pixels and the spaces between the rows of pixels. Worst of all as I found out afterwards, if I went into the Apple Store 10ft away, I could get an original screen for $15 more than this place. Even as a walk-in it would probably be done in an hour. Thankfully they were very cool about swapping my old screen back on. In summary, there's just no good reason to go here. read more

These guys fixed my iPhone 6 screen three times. I was clearly having a run of clumsiness and terrible luck with that particular phone, only 3 weeks between screen cracks #2 and #3. But the staff was great and able to explain the issue and fixed the screen in about an hour's time each visit. I'd just run to the food court for a bite to eat and return later with a new screen. They even took pity on me because barely any time passed between those 2 visits that they gave me a bit of a discount. I have two cons though. The 3rd screen they replaced for me didn't seem as good as the ones before. The edges of the screen seemed to not be as dark as previous ones. Additionally, every visit I was always given the hard sell on a tempered glass screen scratch cover I didn't want. I resisted so hard once, one dude gave it to me for free. Found these covers no more effective than the lesser-expensive ones you can get online. They probably made good margins on those things, but asking once is enough. In general, It's a good place to get your gear fixed if you're past warranty on it. Their rates are slightly cheaper than the Apple store that's literally 10 steps away in the mall. read more

I had to have it repaired again last week and not only was the girl operating as the customer service rep beyond RUDE, the service was inexplicably $30 more than similar shop upstairs, my phone screen touch screen is barely useable thanks to a shoddy install. I am seriously disappointed Have a coupon? The nasty receptionist wouldn't allow me to use it, even if my phone screen had been functional enough to pull it up. I just came back from my second visit to icity repair. Yes, second (because some of us are just that clumsy!) Both visits, I was just amazed how knowledgable and efficient the staff was. Taylor knew exactly what was wrong with my phone upon first glance.. She was very clear of the work that needed to be done (trust me it was some work.. I couldn't touch my screen without getting little splitters).. . She swiftly explained to me what repairs needed to be done and what part needed to be fixed.. I believe the technician who worked on my phone was named Manny.. He didn't even flinch upon evaluating what was left of my phone.. His confidence reassure me and he definitely delivered.. I was so disappointed going here. It took 5 hours to replace the screen of an iPad. Originally quoted 2 hours. Came back, wasn't done. Came back 30 mins later and the screen was coming up on all the edges. They quoted another hour. I came back and it hadn't been touched because the guy "went on break" so they tried to fix it in a hurry and (for my trouble) put a screen protector on. Problem was, glue was leaking into the main screen. When I pointed it out, the guy said it was just cause it was wet and I wouldn't see it when it dries. I was extremely skeptical but chose (foolishly) to trust him. It's been 3 months and it's still there because it wasn't just that it was wet and he knew it. I didn't give them 1 star because they did replace the screen and the iPad works, so I got what I paid for but the service and workmanship are atrocious. quick good service overall.. I had already broken & replaced the screen at Apple Store 6 mo ago, it took long time, was about $25 more, but no problems.. I'm updating my review from 4 to 3 stars, and am editing this review 5 days after. WHY? .As I walked away, noticed my fingerprint scanner was not working and the screen was quickly shaking. The manager David assured me that it was a fluke and that he would replace it right away. The next day I noticed that the entire new screen was loose when you squeezed the top of the iPhone. I came back the next and they fixed it, (a 2nd time).. So tho it was great service and Dave is def a professional and has integrity, those issues, though fixed quickly, brought it from 'great' to 'good'.. The rest is the original review; Rep/mngr David was there. Hooked me up w a good deal with a glass protective case that will break instead of the iPhone glass breaking. So far so good. My iPhone XS screen just stopped working and I hadn't backed up my phone in awhile and had over 17,000 photos that are priceless. Apple couldn't help me and Best Buy failed but iCity helped me out. Take what ever they quote you, throw it in the nearest garbage can, and take your phone somewhere else to get it repaired anyway. Had to fix my Note 2 three times. First I brought it in to have the glass replaced, but had to bring it back due to "bad glue" which caused my screen to lift about a quarter inch in all 4 corners and the home button was unpressably tight. Fix number 2. Then the button was fixed right but the the coating on the screen that repels oil was missing in 2 corners, so every time you touched the screen it would be filthy in those two corners. It would only look right if you walk around with solvent all day to spray your phone. I don't walk around with solvent all day. Fix number 3. Was no fix!!!! The tech that worked on it, Kwamii, told me he replaced the screen again, which was clearly a straight forward lie because the 2 corners with the blotches had two blotches of the identical shape and size - the odds of that are astronomical. On top of that I was told a cop out excuse of "they all come like this", when in reality all he did was shine it up and hand it back to me after my 30 minute drive there yet again. Rediculous. They offered to put a screen protector on it saying the blotch spots would not be visible, not looking to drive back here again I said sure, but only if its a glass screen protector. "Okay" they told me and went to get the screen protector "we dont have a glass screen protector we only have the plastic ones. Frustrated, "Okay", I replied. "We dont have one for your phone, we only have one for a different phone that we can cut for you" ...so I'm supposed to accept an illegitimate fix, with a cut up screen protector from another phone? Uh..... no. I talked to the owner. After being reminded numerous times that "You signed a piece of paper that protects me", the options he laid to me went like this: "We can order you another piece of glass, (which I have to pay for. Why?? I have nothing to do with why it's messed up, why do I have to pay for the repair again???) but the tech is going to be away for 10 days." Can you guarantee that it will be fixed, as in repaired completely with no glue problems, or button problems, or blotches on my screen? "No." Okay, so No. "We can order you a brand new piece of glass from Samsung for $225". I already have $75 into this ..."repair" so I'm supposed to put another $225 into it to get it fixed by the same tech who lied to me before about "fixing" my phone the last time??? That's RIDICULOUS!!! I can get a brand new Note 2, new in box for $300!! I ended up trying to square the deal by saying to the owner "How about this, match the cost of a glass screen protector elsewhere which is $35 and we'll call it square". He said "the best im willing to do on it is $20." I took my $20 after being dismissed by the owner. Garbage. The only redemption I got is from the young lady who works there with naturally dark brown hair who actually gives a damn, though the systems around her fail her. Everyone else I interacted with was an absolute waste of time energy and money. read more

iPad 2 with cracked screen needed repair. Poked around online and found iCity, which is a few paces from the Apple store at Bridgewater Commons. Dropped off Saturday, got call late Sunday afternoon it was ready. Picked it up early evening Monday. PROs: 1) My first contact, when I dropped it off, was positive. The man who helped me was patient and answered all of my questions. 2) At pickup, once I pointed out the filthy screen, they cleaned it. 3) Once I pointed it out, they fixed bubble in newly-installed tempered glass adhesive by replacing tempered glass. 4) End result was very good. 5) Convenient location. CONs: 1) When I was handed my iPad, it was COVERED in smudges and fingerprints - nasty! So I asked for a cloth, but that didn't work well. Finally the tech on duty offered to clean it. Two spritzes of alcohol and a wipe - all of 10 seconds - and it was clean. Why couldn't that have been done before handing it to me?? 2) Once the fingerprints were gone, a bubble in the corner (where the tempered glass adhesive didn't stick) was visible. Why wasn't there a quick inspection before returning it? It cost me all of 15 minutes, but this should have been caught earlier. 3) I very politely shared that the "delivery" experience was disappointing and I got a blank stare and then a delayed, muted "sorry." I thought the employee was going to say "So?!" (or worse). 4) No bag, sleeve, nada - but they did remember to try to up-sell me to the neighboring kiosk selling no-name cases for $50. $192 ain't cheap, and I expected more. A few seconds of pre-delivery prep would have improved the experience immensely - at least to four stars. read more

They replaced the screen on my wife's phone in 20 minutes for $109 (very reasonable) and also threw in a screen protector and new case for half price.
