Pass the door and you'll be transported to the other side of the world, ready to indulge in the flavors of Japanese teppanyaki. The wooden beams, overall décor and large open kitchen give it that authentic feel, but beyond the welcoming look and feel you will get to appreciate some excellent food. Not to mention, good value for money if you consider how expensive Japanese food can be in Belgium. We went on a busy Saturday night and were seated at the counter facing the sushi chef. Things seemed to run very smoothly and we ordered sashimi for starters followed by a prawn and a beef teppanyaki. The sashimi was fresh and tasted great. It was very nice to be able to see the chefs at work, slicing and dicing, and the plating up right in front of you. The teppanyaki that followed were equally good, with a preference for my beef order accompanied by tasty mushrooms and a flavorsome jus. Prawns were no showstopper but weren't in any way bad. Good food here, and proof you don't need to be Japanese to master the iron griddle and cook good food. The Belgian head chef does a fine job surrounded by his Japanese team.

We were guided to a nice table with a view on the small garden and pond. We started off with two Japanse cocktails, one of which came in a ceramic figurine. We got the bento box and the teppanyaki beef. Every bit of the lunch menu (some appetizers and a miso soup) came at a leisurely pace. Our main course was very tasty and appealing to the eye. All in all it was a wonderful culinary experience. We'll be sure to come again!

We tried calling several times to make a reservation, but no one answered, and we couldn't find any online booking system. It left us wondering--how do people even manage to get a table here? When we arrived, we saw an empty table with no reservation sign on it. However, the chef saw us, came over, and abruptly said, "We're full!" before we could even ask a question, then walked away. One of the staff members also completely ignored us, which felt quite rude and unwelcoming. No matter how good the food might be, this kind of attitude makes us not want to return. They seriously need to improve their reservation system and reconsider how they treat potential customers.

I have been here 3 times now already and the third time has only confirmed the first impression I…read morehad when I first came here. This place is for me the best sushi place as far as quality/price is concerned. The quality of the sushi is just exquisite and definitely equals that of some other restaurants who offer the same freshness and variety but for double the price. Seriously. Nevertheless, it is not only about the sushi. The restaurant offers a separate menu with the house suggestions presenting different kinds of Japanese appetizers that are really delicious and so ... Japanese. The best way to enjoy these appetizers is to order a bunch of them and share them. The last time I went there, my friends and I had the squid carpaccio (in a citrusy juice), agedashi tofu (fried to perfection), eggplant in miso sauce (I'm not a big fan of eggplant, but this dish was a game-changer), layered eggplant with beef (very tasty) and an assortment of tempura (not greasy at all and crusty until the end of our meal). We wanted to order the o-toro (fatty tuna) sashimi as well, but they don't have that one on Mondays, which means I will have to come back. But I don't see that as a problem, :). After our appetizers, we continued our meal with some sushi and sashimi. As already mentioned earlier, exquisite. As far as the place itself is concerned. Well, let's say it makes you feel in a small sushi joint in Japan. The place is small - but cozy -, so reservation is recommended. There is no AC, but only a couple of fans working in times of warm weather, definitely gives it a local feeling. On some days, it can be filled with Japanese people who really know how to enjoy their food, which makes you really feel as if you were in Japan for a little bit. Another nice factor is that you can order a bottle of shoju and leave it there with your name if you weren't able to finish it, so you can continue the next time you come again. Neat, isn't it? So, to conclude, there is definitely nothing that would stop me from going there again. Ok, I forgot to mention that the waiter can come off as a little bit arrogant. However, once you start chatting with him, he is unstoppable. :). The chef on the other hand doesn't say much, but I blame that on the fact that he's very concentrated behind the sushi bar, so no big deal. Can't wait to go there again.

The restaurant is located far enough from the touristy areas to avoid being overrun, but easily accessible for the determined - only a 12 minute tram from Palais de Bruxelles. A casual ambiance at the bar/counter (photo), not common among other Michelin-star restaurants, hides their meticulous preparations and excellent service. A simple lunch, exquisitely prepared (photo). Incredibly fresh otoro. Fresh grated wasabi. Black sesame mousse dessert (photo). It is moderately expensive (prix fixe lunch, with two glasses of wine - about 70€) - If it wasn't 5,700 km away, I would go every day. 2018 10 08.

It was a bit expensive, but still worthwhile to go to. The staff were friendly and i was happy to have walked in to an actual Japanese restaurant with Japanese cooks. We took the menu of 75eur. And the quantity was perfect. I ordered a nice warm sake, and when it turned cold, it was still even better. My husband ordered a Japanese beer (made in belgium), it was good too, but i would recommend to stick with sake and macha tea. Try it out!!
