It…read moreis much bigger that I thought it was, and I have been neglecting a visit for a long time, maybe because is 'on the other side' when all the action seems to be packed on the right side of the Rancho Winery premises, once you park your car and go to where all shops and the winery itself are. However, there is no way to miss this is you observe the woody signs with nice colors that indicate the way. Once there, you are welcomed to check the artisans working (mostly students) and you can see the oven operating plus a section that is somewhat an art gallery, where you can buy pieces from different students/artists. Prices are very economic for the hand and har work and the love each artisan put in each of their creations (at least when I have done ceramics, I don't even want to sell them, they are my babies!), so I did not find the prices outrageous at all. Plus the location inside the RB winery is another pleasant experience by itself. Very recommendable for a visit even if you are not into clay.

There is always a good excuse to visit the stores when at the Rancho Bernardo winery but particularly during the holidays the whole winery including the shops transform into a winter wonderland for Christmas. Today was my first visit to the North Coastal Art Gallery and I was very impressed. When I walked into the space, the man working greeted me quickly and said I could fill out a small paper choosing my favorite piece, and they do a 'best in show' every month, based on the votes. That painting will be featured and the artist gets a ribbon too. It made the experience interactive, which I really enjoyed. Can't wait to see who wins!

The…read morespace was big enough for a taco stand in the front, a DJ booth and all his equipment, tv for Nintendo HDMI setup for the kids, a playpen for the toddlers, 4 tables for food, ice bins for adult/kid's beverages, seating and a playground next door. We also had a traditional dragon dance performance in the front of the venue. The folks that run it (Kyle, Paige, Jim and Anthony) were really responsive and nice. Our party was the party of the century thanks to them!

Some of the shops are very cute . But they are kind of precious and not really something you would want to shop at unless you were buying a gift for somebody and don't mind overpaying. Since this is a free country and this is private property, I understand they choose to say no pets and we choose to spend our money elsewhere.
