Bring Your Own Water…read more I have eaten here twice and after the second time I will never return to this place again though it is just around the corner from where I presently reside. Chong Tsing Taste wraps itself up nicely in a bleached white nouvelle cuisine ambiance, giving the allure of trying not to be a typical Madrid Chinese restaurant, but something more upscale. Unfortunately it just isn't, and given how my last meal abruptly ended there it is actually worse much worse. My first beef with this place, the restaurant is about as sterile and welcoming as the hospital facing it across Valle de Súchíl. Start with the menu, if you want to call it that, for lack of a better word I guess. Anyhow the stack of paper dropped unceremoniously in front my son and myself was a lovely collection of photo copies. It resembled more of a badly thrown together science project from a child in grade 4 and spat out from a printer circa 1997. I did appreciate the nice modern touch that they bothered to print it in color, no doubt a nod to wooing the Millennials. Naturally, such an exquisitely presented menu is charged full of all sorts of stunning dishes, perhaps, yet after a while of staring at the 19 pages of photocopies held together by a paper clip, with the assorted pictures of random dishes laid out as if blasted onto the glossy pages from a shot gun, all blends into one colored mass of "I don't know what to order..." and almost numbly lulling you into a random finger pointed selection. The food is decent, portions are standard. The service adequate, yet as welcoming as the overall ambiance. I do not think there has been a smile in that building since Franco died, even the standard clichéed waving cat figuring felt like it was frowning at us. Anyhow, this is already more words than this place deserves at this point. So the great coup de grâce, besides the indifference oozing from every corner was what occurred after ordering a fairly spicy dish of beef. I asked for 2 glasses of ice water specifying from the tap. The waiter returned only to inform me that he could only serve me bottled water, that he was not authorized to serve tap water. I am so sorry Mr. Waiterman, please bring me the bill immediately. After thousands of restaurants from all cultures around and across the globe, this is the first to deny me a glass of tap water and is so offside and of a level of ridiculous that I had to pinch myself to make sure I was not waking up in a seat on a Ryanair flight. All the more thirsty as well, as we had started the meal asking for a couple of Ice Teas (Lipton, Nestea, Trina, whatever...) but our waiter had promised us special ice teas exclusively from exotic China. Fine we went along for the ride only to be presented with a coal enriched glass of the liquid fructose which we laughingly forced down and left half unfinished. Save your Eurodollars as there are plenty of restaurants of all Asian stripes in Madrid that outdoes this place. Avoid this one like the plague, a resounding two thumbs down and might you be left with no other choices make sure you bring your own water.

I loved the softness of the chicken, and the way it had been grilled and seasoned to perfection. The garlic naan was tasty too. The pulao was a little undercooked and the rice felt grainy. The service was amazing and very kind, it took around 10 minutes for us to be served the paella. The indoor and outdoor seating area looked clean, and there was a modern vibe in the restaurant. It was very chic, I would come again. The paella was decent. It was a little greasy but I did walk 30 mins back to the hotel in 90 degree weather before I got a chance to eat it, so keep that in mind. The chicken was good, but overall wasn't anything special and could use more seasoning. The price was reasonable though and I felt very full and satisfied after eating. Overall: good location, great service, clean dining area, and okay food. I would come for a drink or quick snack but not for a nice, full dinner.

Whilst meandering Madrid late at night (23:00), looking for a place for dinner that was not only…read morestill open but also had a crowd (to let us know, visually, if the place was popular), we came across La Española. We immediately sat down, ordered two cervezas (received complimentary tapas), jamón (prosciutto), patatas bravas and slow roasted oxtail. This was our first time ordering and enjoying the famous jamón that everyone seems to rave about and now we know why! The jamón is much more flavorful, fresh and scrumptious that what we are used to in the U.S. It is served on a platter with mini baguette crostinis and somehow the meat is so tender, it feels like it melts in your mouth! We would definitely recommend this dish anywhere you go throughout Spain! The patatas bravas is a side dish composed of roasted potatoes topped with a spicy red salsa. This is a dish you will find on just about every single restaurant menu you come across in Spain as it is a staple and quite delicious. The salsa has just enough heat, the potatoes are cooked perfectly and it is filling. Lastly, the slow roasted oxtail was rich and savory. The dish was composed of three oxtail servings over a bed of roasted potatoes and the flavors were decent but not extraordinary. I would say that you have to be vocal when it comes to this place if you want anything from the servers, but after having encountered this throughout our travels in Spain, it seems to be customary to do so. The atmosphere is a bit noisy, but that also seems to be the standard for any restaurant, especially eating out so late. Our server spoke a little English, which helped us out a little bit throughout our dinner experience. Pro Tip: - Be assertive - Learn their language - Pay cash (faster and easier)

The salmon toast was like any other salmon toast. Hadto add olive oil to change up the taste and made it better. The veal meatballs were awesome. It came medium well on top of potatoe straw fries. The fondue goat cheese tasted fresh and paired well with the veal meatballs. The turkey cordon blue (tapa snack) tasted really good. Should've ordered a bigger portion, but wasnt feeling like eating a lot if they were dry. Its not called turkey cordon blue, but it taste and looks like it should be. It has cheese on the inaide and on top aswell has ham in the inside. Jamon y queso pizza, tasted ok. The hamon and cheese slides right off, due to the really thin crust. The wagyu burger came medium rare, this tasted great. The sauce on the top could've been changed, but the burger itself was cooked perfectly and the meat was tender. Last was the pig cheeks in red wine sauce. Came with the straw fries and fried fruit chips. Thw red wine sauce was not overpowering which tasted great and the pig cheeks had enough proportion of fat and meat. The fruit chips paired well witb the red wine bitter taste with the crisp sweatness of the chips.
