Trip from Madrid myself and 2 boys (one whose bday was supposed to be the day after we'd returned) through Heathrow to Chicago (ORD). IB Flight (8a) leaves 1.25 hours late from Spain- our 2h window becomes a mad dash to meet security at customs saying BA pulled us off the flight - go see Iberia customer counter. 3.5h later Iberia staff have been unable, they confess they're actually BA staff covering (no actual Iberia staff - even had me call Iberia call center), supervisor (BA) says only option- take a flight tomorrow on our AA partner, we'll put you in a room overnight, dinner voucher, grab your bags and recheck in following day; next day (640) we attempt check-in at AA- no itinerary, go speak to BA, BA turn and say can't help- go to another terminal and find Iberia staff to accommodate. I put my foot down and told the agent to get her manager- he can walk us to the terminal, print our tickets and hand them personally. (750a) find BA agent at the opposite end of counter appreciating AA agent for helping. AA agent firmly says put your bags, here's your tickets- my now 10 y old pipes up 'could you please upgrade me for my birthday?' She smirks and said ask at your gate - maybe they can help you. We're now waiting for the final leg 2.5h again delayed. Thanks to the wonderful staff involved (IB tele - Gian Franco; BA - Georgia; AA - Deborah) - for helping us celebrate my 10 yr old's birthday running around London/Heathrow with his brother and I; mom and lil sis are safe at home- took another flight. we were sightseeing in Spain for three weeks, on the 20th of March flew from Madrid to London. My wife's luggage did not arrive, we file the luggage claim and chased the service centre for two days on the date 22nd and found the luggage but till today the 24th still doesn't know when the luggage can return. We stay in London for 5 days, now didn't how many days shall extend to wait for the luggage? Chui Iberia service centre response can't do anything, request us to wait. read more

I had a trip to Morocco planned and canceled due to the devastating earthquake. I called Iberia Airlines and was told I would receive a refund .. sweet! A week and change passes and still haven't received it. I called again- she said she saw it was canceled but a refund hasn't been issued... so he "issued it". I called today to follow up and he said she saw it was canceled but a refund hasn't been issued. They had no record of my 2nd call and he told me he was only going to issue a voucher. I told him in my original call I was promised my refund. He went to review the call and said if that's what I was told, they would honor it. He came back and he avoided the question from me asking what he had heard on the call. Then he acted like he couldn't hear me and hung up. I called again and the gentleman said the same thing re a voucher. You promised original form of payment and it's recorded. Your hands are not tied- do the right thing Twice... lies! read more

I have been too nice. Not a 1 star review in quite some time and now it's payback. After a long 10 plus hour flight out of Johannesburg my wife I make our way to our connecting flight to London. We were dehydrated and hungry, but most of all just thirsty. I figured we could just get some water on our flight to Heathrow but guess what? The flight attendants announce that all drinks (including water) will need to be paid for in cash (no credit cards) and Euros will be the only currency accepted. Let me get this straight, we are connecting on a flight out of South Africa and heading to the UK. Neither place uses the Euro. Surely now they would be understanding and give us a glass of water right? HELL NO! Even after I explained to them that we were only in Madrid to connect, and literally only had 90 minutes in the airport of which most of the time spent in the customs line and barely even made it to our gate in time to catch our flight. They felt zero compassion and pushed the refreshment cart down the aisle not even leaving us a drop of anything to drink. I finally made my way to the lavatory and grabbed two paper cups and filled them with water for my wife who was just about to pass out. From the very beginning when checking in and during our long haul out of SA to Madrid, the service on Iberia was horrendous. The final straw was the water incident. To the lady at Heathrow who was really nice to me and said my cake looked yummy: You made my day! You're so nice, and it was fun talking to you. Thank you also for calling people to fix the problem of our airplane boarding pass scanner thingies not working. I don't know your name, but I hope that if your manager is reading this, they go buy you a slice of cake. Also, FYI, they give you no complementary drinks on the flight. Because I am a Pampered American™, I was upset about this at first. But then, I talked to my friend, who lives in Spain (I flew from London, where I was vacationing, to Madrid). She said that she went on an 8 hour flight and they gave them no food and no drinks. So I guess that's just par for the course here in Europe. There's also not that much room to put stuff under your seat, and there's no built in screens (another Pampered American™ thing), but I didn't mind. Most the flight attendants were billingual, which was very nice. I can understand Spanish, but I can't speak it well, so I was glad there were people who I could talk to in English if I had any questions. I would totally fly Iberia again! read more

Stay away from them if you can!!!! They notoriously charge consumers twice for one flight ( talking from my own experience as well as other people's reviews online) and dispute they didn't. I was lucky that I only paid £372 ( they charged it twice) and my bank has supported me in reimbursing the money taken in error by Iberia but imagine booking a flight with them for a higher amount???? There is a fraud case registered against them and the bank is going to pursue it further with them. They first claimed this to be their policy which they later admitted in black and white was not the case. Then refused to admit they charged me twice which showed again in black and white on my bank statement. ABTA and CAA do not cover them so I referred this matter to the Spanish Trading Standards as the airline claims to be Spanish. If you had a similar experience please feel free to get in touch. Unlike other people I decided not to let it go that easily and any form of support from other consumers will be welcome. This airline is a disgrace to Spain and the Spanish culture. read more

We missed our connection solely because the ground agent sent us in the wrong direction, through unnecessary passport controls which we did not need to go through - instead of sending us onto the quick connect bus. At customer services we were asked to pay a fine for our luggage having needed to be offloaded from the missed flight and for the ensuing delay. The off-loading was a complete fabrication, because we found our bags were already in Tangiers when we eventually got there- having been transported without allocation to anyone This was in breach of international airline security rules. We ended up having to stay in a hotel at our expense. No compensation possible since the customer services portal is designed to timeout before you can scroll scroll through all the required country suggestions and before you can manage to enter endless amounts of requested data. Tried three times then gave up.. There is no email address to send the complaint to I in time, I.e. one week after the event. I feel terribly cheated and will avoid Iberia at any cost. read more

Very poor customer service. I have been trying to add baggage to a flight for 1.2 hours via the telephone, as this was booked in conjunction with BA, they confirmed this will need to be added through Iberia. After calling them they explained they did not have my reference, then found the reference, then they needed me to call BA back as they could not do it. BA sent me back to Iberia where they confirmed they had added it but I needed to call BA back to make payment, only for BA to tell me there is nothing added to the system. After 7 phone calls to do something very simple I asked to speak to a manager and a very rude lady called Cara hung up on me. I am still no further with adding the baggage and it is needed for medical reasons. I'm back in contact with BA and hoping they can help on behalf of this awful company. I would never use Iberia express again. none of the staff I had to speak to knew what they were talking about. it started at check in at Las Palmas, my wife and I 75&73 were traveling to Gatwick with a one hour ten min stop at Madrid, I asked the check in girl if we would have to change planes , no she said same plane all the way, Wrong. when we landed at Madrid checked with cabin girl, told would have get off to get connecting flight, but to pick up baggage from carousel first,Wrong. waited for bags to come round, till I was informed that my bags would have been taken straight to my next flight, now we have ten mins to go and have to go through security again, two mins to go and pass a sign that says 7 mins to gate H8, get to gate both nearly dead, man at gate says have changed seat no,s and gives us two more, on plane find two people with same seat ticket sitting in our seats Wrong, get to Gatwick they have lost our bags. Avoid at all costs! Trust me it is worth paying more. I have never had a good flight with them, but my most recent flight was possibly the worst. The flight attendants completely ignored my husband and I. It is annoying enough to have to pay for even drinks on a flight, but we didn't even get the chance. I held my money and the menu and got ignored. The people all around us received service. I tried to flag someone down and still got ignored. I pushed the call button and the light stayed on the whole trip. I finally was able to ask someone if we could order drinks and was told it was too late. We were ignored when we tried to throw away the water bottles we had gotten in the airport. To top it off I was yelled at by a flight attendant. The fasten seatbelt light came on while I was in the bathroom. I left as fast as possible and the aisle was blocked by the trash cart. I understand what the fasten seatbelt light means, but I literally could not physically return to my seat. There was no reason to scream at me for being up. No flight has been good with Iberian but this was the worst. Also there is no leg room on any flight, so you are doomed to be uncomfortable. read more
