    West End

You may wonder why I am writing a review about a West End car park - I mean surely the West End has…read moretons of more interesting and funky happening places going on, eh? Well, yes it does. Indeed, it does. However, sometimes in order to get to these funky happening places you need to park your car. Being a mainly public transport or walking type of girl, this is something which ordinarily doesn't occur to me. Yet, on entering a course last week I was shocked that when someone asked me about the nearest car park I really had to think about it. Furthermore, I could not for the life of me explain where it was (I am truly terrible at giving directions). And so, I decided this was a necessary review. This car park is fairly big (in West End standards) and is located just behind the Marks and Spencers off of Byres Road and Ashton Lane. From this, you'll realise how handy it is for the buzz of Byres Road and 'The Lane'. It's a Glagsow City Council Car Park so prices are average (I think) andit's very cheap for an all day ticket on Sundays. Perfect, for a spot of West End Sunday shopping and eating. Meanwhile, it tends to be quieter than the other car park which is more easily noticeable from Byres Road so there's always a good chance that you'll find a space or that one will quickly become available.

That was, until my drive shaft snapped and my car rolled down the hill into a pole. Now I kind of have the fear about parking here. Good things: - Cheap - Handy for Byres Road/Ashton Lane - Open 24 hours Not so good: - Could do with resurfacing - On a bit of a hill - Tough to get a spot If you're lucky, you might be able to get a spot on Byres Road which is free. So try there first!

I used to work in Paisley but I'd never parked at this carpark as I was able to park at the Uni. I…read moreheaded her rather than trying to find on-street parking as I figured it would be quiet handy. It's easily accessible but in the centre of town, so for people new to Paisley you'll have to master the one-way system to get there! I'd say it's a pretty pokey carpark which feels small and cramped, and I worried about hitting the walls going up/down the ramps. It was easy enough to get a spot on a Thursday afternoon though. You take your ticket with you and pay as you leave at the machine on the ground floor. Prices are pretty cheap (especially compared to Glasgow parking priced) - all day for £5 or 3 hours for £2.

I thought it was a bit pricey I was there for 5 hours which cost me £5 rather a shock after Kilmarnock where the car parks are relatively cheap! I found it a little confusing inside as it wasn't always clear which way you could go which were the 'up' ramps and which the 'down'. The machine where one pays on return doesn't take £20 notes or give change so it took me ages to scrape together enough cash! Another thing which annoyed me was that I could only get back via the main entrance/exit there are three or four doors around the outside but they were all locked (probably fire escapes which only open from the inside). I shall try one of the other car parks next time
