The Tuesday night auction is how I have stocked every new apartment that I've ever had, with NICE stuff: a full matching set of vintage looking China, pots and pans, my curtains, a small rug, my dresser, my bed..... everything for extremely cheap. Seriously! Even got a set of auxiliary fog lights for my car, new in box for a couple of dollars. My favorite purse, necklace, and also winter coat are from this place. I've been shopping here for over 10 years and I just adore this local business. BJ, the owner, is one of the most authentic and unique people that I know, and is an incredible auctioneer. So... shout out to migratory millennials and those seeking unique and cheap house wear, antiques, vintage, collectibles, furniture, funky jewelry, whatever. Swing up to BJ's Auction after you visit McMenamins Edgefield, it's totally worth the drive.

It took over a day just to get an invoice which seems very long. Other companies have gotten them to me in minutes after an auction ends. Payment methods were very limited and took too long. I was not able to pick up my purchased lots for 2 days after the end of the auction which is the longest I have ever experienced. Loading line was long, and slow once they started. Not nearly enough people helping. With the buyers fee being at the top end of the industry in cost, I expected a high level of service, but it was just mediocre at best. I would not avoid them if there was something I really wanted, but now I know to significantly lower my expectations compared with other auction houses I use.

I have recommended them to many family members and friends who now have similar purchase history. In this last auction I purchased 10 lots that would require a 53 ft trailer to transport over 400 miles from their Spokane sight. Because of the poor packaging of the lots and an unwillingness to assist in loading by the Spokane yard workers two 18 wheelers were turned away. One flat bed because the load would have fallen apart in transit and one box truck because they wouldn't lend a pallet jack. That's a $300 fee per truck billed to me. They finely decided to allow the third driver to use the pallet jack after multiple calls where i was told the yard man would call me back and didn't. There was no communication from the auction to me unless I called them until on the last day with less than 4 hours the yard man called me and begrudgingly agreed to allow the use. Meanwhile I was threatened with a $250 a day storage fee per lot. That's $2500 per day for 10 lots because this yard was unwilling to assist in loading or ensuring lots were properly packaged for shipping on $1110 of goods. Remember I'm out an additional 600 in fees on trucks not loaded, buyers premium charges, and sales tax. I see no option but to cut my losses and have JSA put those lots in the next auction to avoid a storage fee of twice the value of those lots every day they refuse to provide assistance in loading which they have always provided in the past. If this last truck doesn't work out I will have no other options. Never again will I have anything to do with the Spokane location and possibly JSA Auctions all together. Biggest negative is poor/ no communication with me, the shipping company and the multiple drivers who were dispatched. Second Biggest negative is a poor and very unhelpful attitude with drivers and myself. I was made to feel asking to use their pallet jack was on the same level as asking to sleep on their couch for a week.

I never had a lot of money, but that didn't hold me back, I bought carefully. I found a few auction companies on Yelp and contacted them. One stood out from the beginning, Salem Auction House. I trusted Jake from the first telephone call, I don't know why, but he has the kind of enthusiasm that I have for unusual items and furniture. His good character was apparent from our first meeting. He drove up from Salem, packed my items in the truck and charged a nominal fee for that service. We were moving, and we don't drive, so that was a huge load off of my mind. Everything was handled by Jake, he scheduled the auction, advertised it and put the entire process online to witness. I'll admit, I didn't pay close attention, but to put it mildly, it was (for me) an unexpectedly successful auction, far in excess of my expectations. Looking at the prices being paid was gratifying. I love Oregon, but people are very tight with money, if you try to sell things yourself it is both difficult and depressing. Somehow Jake and Salem Auction House have the right clientele. They appreciated my items, bought them because they liked my taste, and bought so enthusiastically that I know that they will be loved as much as I always have. That was important to me. Jake was as excited as I was, the itemized list accompanied a check within a week or so. I can highly and wholeheartedly recommend Salem Auction House!

Been there twice now (about 6 months apart) and I remember now why I didnt want to go back. - They're VERY disorganized pictures & description were often wrong or mismatched. - They were using 2 different online real-time bidding sites and they're internet apparently couldn't handle it. So in middle of sale, they'd just stop & wait for internet to catch up. - Bought vintage dishes described "MIB" (which means MINT IN BOX) but they were far from mint. I got to auction all over (Hillsboro, Clackamas, Woodburn) and Auction Houses should NEVER describe condition of an item if unsure. - At check out they had pricing off on item I won. My winning bid was $55, they had it as $75. Bidding was in increments of $5 and its not like I could have been off by one bid in error. A $20 different would have been SEVERAL bids back & forth. And to top it off they got rude w/ me when I said I didn't want it. Bottom line is there are FAR better places to go .......

Augen is one of the best places on the West Coast to buy prints from the giants of contemporary art. Prints are always less expensive than originals. They run in editions of 10 to 1500 or more. It's a way for late career artists to satisfy the huge demand for their famous work, and at a less than astronomical auction house prices. With Augen's selection of artists, the prices are $1000 on up, excepting early print work by some Portland artists. Augen has is active in representing younger Portland artists, particularly at their NW Davis Street location. A few of the well known artists in their print collection may be found on their Master Prints page http://www.augengallery.com/Prints/_prints.html. It's a print museum and an art history lesson. The owner is obsessed with prints and collects them himself. What makes Augen unique is that he has cultivated personal relationships with the artists and the print studios that execute the prints over many years. That has allowed him to get a slice of rare print runs when they were first made. Very knowledgeable owner, fine quality, and often rare prints by museum stage artists.

The finance team was smooth and straightforward, making the process way less stressful than expected. And two weeks later, I even got a follow-up from both the service team and finance team just to check in and make sure everything was going well. That level of care and communication really sticks with you. Overall, just a solid, positive experience from start to finish. We canceled the warranty on a vehicle 4/6/26 in writing sent to the email address they provided us with. Well they've been giving us the run around. Called the warranty company they said they aren't even the ones that refund the money. The dealership is and the dealership never actually contacted them to cancel our contract. I purchased a Land Rover Defender from Diplomat Motors (DP). The staff was friendly for the most part, and the facility itself is beautiful and gives a strong first impression. Unfortunately, the experience with the vehicle has been extremely disappointing. Shortly after purchase, the check engine light came on. DP did address this by replacing a sensor at no cost, which I appreciated. However, the issues didn't stop there. The vehicle continued to shake when braking, which led me to have it independently inspected, something I now wish I had done before purchasing. That inspection revealed multiple leaks and additional concerns that should have been identified during routine maintenance. Given that DP provided maintenance records and also worked on the vehicle (including the O2 sensor repair), it's concerning that these issues were either missed or not disclosed. These are not minor problems, they are things a thorough inspection should have caught. To make matters worse, I purchased a $5,000 warranty, yet the car has already been in the shop three times, costing me over $1,600 out of pocket for repairs that were not covered. Overall, while the customer service and presentation were solid, the condition of the vehicle and lack of transparency around its true mechanical state have made this a frustrating and costly experience. I would strongly recommend getting an independent inspection before purchasing any vehicle from DP. If that's what you decide to do.
