Naples Table Tennis - Watch out for the ball!

Naples Table Tennis

I have not play table tennis for 45+ years. Several years ago. On a Friday night, I wondered into…read moreNaples Table Tennis Club right behind Sam's Club on Immokalee Road inside building #3 of Our Savior Lutheran Church on 1955 Curling Ave. There were four tables and players were concentrated and focused on playing their games. Some played with smooth inverted rubbers and several with pimpled rubber. It appeared that they not only keep the ball on the table but hit each ball with a purpose with amazing power and speed. The tables are high quality tournament table, Stiga Optimum 30. Impressive! A gentleman named Tony, approached me and ask me if I would like to have a game. I was hesitating to show my Walmart's racket but what the hell, nothing ventures nothing gain! Tony, after a few minutes of warmup, slaughtered me in 3 quick games. Every time, I pushed the ball back, he would attack me with a quick punch shot or a flick! He would return my spiny balls with ease. The powerful smash just too much for me to handle! O, well, maybe I can use a better paddle and more practice to get back in shape. There is a separate room with one table, they called the training room where you can practice and train with a partner or have a game. Now, I'm a regular at Naples Table Tennis Club working on fundamentals and smash with a better Butterfly racket called Viscaria with Tenergy 05 and Hurricane III Neo rubber. My grips and racket angles are in slight better shape. It is a great way to improve focus, hand-eye coordination, reflexes, and quick thinking. Many players are friendly and often help me to get better with advice and suggestions. It is a long journal but filled with fun and sweat! To me, this is an opportunity to become a better player and healthier life style! If you looking for an indoor sport, consider table tennis. Or simply stop by Naples Table Tennis Club to have a tryout! This is a place where you can practice with purpose and play with passion.

I have lived in The Vineyards Country Club for three years. I bought My 1670 sq. ft. condo before…read moreCOVID-19. My checklist was straightforward: safety, location, excellent reputation, well-maintained environment, quality amenities and social activities, two bedrooms, two baths, perfect bone structure, and an interior with a blank slate. White walls, white tile, no furniture, and a kitchen circa 1992 ( as an artist, I already envisioned the potential to make it's interior unique and add my personal touch)! I looked at one place first. No! Next. The Vineyards Country Club. I immediately knew after my first walk that this was my "diamond in the rough." The condo faces a gorgeous golf course (1 of 2 classes). Standing in my large lanai and family room, I overlook this course with irregular topography. Florida is flat. Not from my view! This course has an undulating surface that is stunning! The system is expertly groomed and maintained on a daily schedule. Background: I am 10 years Naples resident, I.e., Pelican Bay and Gulf Shore Blvd N.) The owners of the clubhouse, wellness center, and courts completed their plans for 2018-2019. The timing of these renovations left one speechless. The awards from the renovation say it all. I couldn't agree more. I admire the owner(s), board members, and residents that planned and implemented this award-winning makeover I recommend The Vineyards Country Club for those that enjoy living in a beautiful, well-maintained environment, quality amenities, and a community of neighbors that want to experience meaningful moments and new memories with other residents.

I have switched trainers where I live in CA and wanted a gym that would make it easy to do more…read morefloor stretching and more work with free weights. I did some research on the gyms near my sister's home in Naples. Addicted to fitness seemed like the best bet but was concerned if it had enough of the equipment I needed based on reading the website. For a change it was the website underselling just how good this place really is. Image you were a billionaire and had your own gym for you and your friends to use. What would I expect? That it wouldn't be a massive set of treadmills it wouldn't be a pocket gym with no manager just a card. The place would have been decorated not feel like a basement. The staff would welcome you by name. There'd be free wi-fi access to water and coffee and men and woman's bathrooms with showers. The machines would be new and in pristine shape. Owners Jon and Michelle were welcoming and actually took the time to show me which machines I'd need to do each part of my routine. Normally YOYO unless you have a trainer. But yes they have those too. Paraphrasing Ms Riding hood not too big not too small just right. And did I mention the free wifi and being called by name?
