There was very nice music playing and the whole place was decorated with white mini lights. We started our course with Prosecco and a beautiful antipasto with a delicious salad. Next we received a plate with toast with tomato on top and an anchovy toast. Next, we were served homemade ravioli, which was delicious. Our final course came with pig cheeks in a gravy. It was very tender and flavorful. After more Prosecco, we were brought a delicious dessert, which was very Italian. Not sure what it was called, but it was delicious. And then for our finale a really special bottle of lemon cello. This whole experience felt like we were invited into an Italian's home for dinner. I would highly recommend anyone who appreciates food and and a great atmosphere to come here. Truly one of a kind dinning experience. Definitely one of our favorite experiences while at Lake Como.

When you call to make the reservation, they will ask what you want to eat. On the day of your reservation, they will call you when they are at the market, to discuss what's available. The house itself is on a hill paved with cobblestones (you can't drive all the way up to the house). They look of the dining area is like a cozy little cafe. They will only cook one meal per night for a party of up to 10 or 12. The chef and hostess (husband and wife) are very friendly and simply create a great experience. As a diner who likes to frequent the latest hotspot trendy restaurant, I wasn't sure if I would like this, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Good food with good friends (and new ones). There's a lot to be said for being able to have a conversation in a restaurant without having to scream at each other (New York City).

Because we are stereotypical tourists, we ordered the Inglese pizza on our first night. The pizza was phenomenal. It was one of the best pizzas I had in Italy. So okay - that's not what made the night great (great food is a great start). The capstone to a great experience is fantastic service. The staff was funny, friendly, and made sure we had a wonderful time. Naturally we made the death-defying trek back to the restaurant the next day and had an even better time. That night we had the Foie Gras, which tasted good (I can't benchmark it against other foie gras - it was the first I had). They paired it with a horseradish-pear chutney and bruschetta (I'm probably not doing it enough justice) and it had a nice subtle taste. We again had pizza because we're unoriginal - this time a Margherita and Salami pizza. These were great, but not as good as the Inglese. The staff remembered us and took care of us the entire night. It was one of the most memorable experiences we had in Italy - we had a wonderful time. If I get enough money to return to Lake Como we'll go back. Until then - I hope others see the 5 stars have just as great of an experience.

We dined inside ~ a touch of rustic old country; beautiful. The server saw that we were obviously tourists and struggled with the menu. Simply said ~ everything homemade, everything delicious, everyone eating to gluttony. Fantastic food, we had the oso buco with polenta, salami fresh, tagliatelle with boar, cannoli, and lasagne. All were excellent. Well seasoned, good portion size and hot and fresh. The lasagna was great, wonderful bechamela sauce. Canoloni with red sauce and cheese was baked to perfection and clearly hand-made. The service was very nice and helpful. Our broken Italian and her English was just fine. Toward the end of the meal, what I believe was the mother came out and asked how everything was. Tuto bene? (Is everything good?) She asked, we replied tuto molto, molto bene (everything was very, very good!) . She smiled and patted us on the shoulders as a thank you. We plan to return before leaving this area.
