Upon walking up to the restaurant from the taxi, you see a very adorable courtyard with lights. It's a romantic setting and mixed in with the magic that is Lake Como, you instantly feel like you've walked into a romantic Cary Grant film. We were greeted warmly and seated inside. Instantly I was annoyed by the table of Americans behind us, but that's a whole different issue that is no fault of the restaurant.
The servers tried their best with the service. We had a hard time listening to their presentations because the table behind us was loud. Rather than anticipating that we would not be able to hear he rest of the courses, the servers continued to present from the end of the table, instead of coming between us like we previously asked to present where we could hear.
The food was amazing with every course and artistic in its presentation. The sommelier was on par with the courses in regards to the pairing, however, there was a time when the next course came and we didn't have our wine.
I felt for a 1 Michelin Star restaurant, the service could be more in sync, the anticipation to the guests' needs should be there, and the servers need to be trained better. For instance, when setting the plates or silverware for the next course, the wares were set incorrectly. Also, my fiancé got a little of sauce on his shirt cuff (food was that delicious, lol) and instead of bringing soda water as requested, we were brought sparkling water and a dirty napkin. While he was wiping, they set his knife for the next course on the other side of the bottle, rather than directly next to the plate.
The food is genuinely enjoyable and Michelin quality. I hope for my next visit that the service will be as well. read more
