I ordered pasta. Staff asked me to wear a bib, presumably because I'm American. Nobody else at the restaurant was wearing a bib. German couple next to me confirmed they were insulting us because we were American. Food was mostly fine, except we asked for a steak medium well and it came out less than rare. Staff forgot my wife's order, it came out 25 minutes after the other orders. Ambiance was nice, but wouldn't eat here if you're American, don't like wearing bibs, like steak, or expect your entrees to be served together. read more

Dining at Vintage Jazz has been the culinary highlight of our stay in Como. We were warmly greeted and seated outdoors in the piazza under umbrellas where we could watch the passersby as the sun began to set, while jazz standards played in the background. A sign we were in the right place were the many locals and/or Italians also choosing Vintage Jazz. We chatted with our waiter who guided us through our potential choices and his recommendations did not disappoint! See my pics for our choices which can be summed up in one word: scrumptious! Our dessert, which I forgot a pic of was sliced banana, blueberry jam, chocolate mouse, whipped cream and crumbled cornflakes. A great end to a terrific meal. Don't waste your money. We ordered both the chicken and pork empanadas, a burger, ceviche, the porcini pasta that was on special, a green salad and roasted veggies. The chicken empanadas came with the most disgusting looking guacamole that was so brown I can't believe they actually served it to us. The pork version came with a semisweet pinkish mayo-based sauce that didn't pair well with the pork. The ceviche was not fresh at all, and also came with the same brown avocado garbage. The porcini pasta was just ok. It could have used some herbs or some kind of seasoning besides butter and salt. The salad and grilled veg were fine. I didn't try the burger but it looked pretty good. I'm just so shocked that they thought it was ok to serve guacamole that was clearly made yesterday since we sat down the minute they opened for lunch. I suspect the ceviche was also likely made yesterday or even earlier. None of that is ok. Not for what they're charging per plate. The ceviche was €26, but we insisted they take that off the bill. Im sorry I didn't take pics of the gross brown guac. Just go somewhere else. read more

Setting is great. Food is average (in a country where food is stellar). Service is subpar. To her credit, when the waitress tipped our bottle of bubbly water over she caught it -- could have been broken glass all around rather than water on the young lady at the next table's shoe. The waitress said she would bring us another bottle but never bothered. When she brought the check I asked if she had removed the water from the bill. Well, that was too much to ask, apparently. Call me fussy but in America we do not charge the customer for food that lands in the ground. There are far better places to dine in Como. read more

Vintage is a "small" place in Como near Plaza Volta... they have live Jazz on Thursdays and a great aperitivo every week day starting at around 7pm. The music is great, the strawberry caipirinha is also great - a must try and obviously the usual Aperol Spritz. Most of the staff speaks enligh. read more

Great place with an eclectic flare. Perfect location away from the busy tourists streets where we enjoyed a glass of wine and relaxed while listening to good music. Good selection of wine and loved the potatoes chips! Keep them coming, the salt was a perfect complement with my Rossata! Best of all Vintage had a great the vibe! We sat at one of the tables in the front enjoying to evening breeze before the rain set in. Romantic setting to say the least! My husband and I liked Vintage so much we returned for Apricena the next evening. Would highly recommend this 'locals hangout' if you enjoy a relaxing environment. This was the best meal in Como. The steak with fois gras was ridiculous. Staff was also excellent.

Very comfortable bar/restaurant steps from the Piazza Volta with a nice little aperitivo buffet and good selection of wines and meat and cheese platters. Good recorded music from the 30's to the 60's at a decent volume so you can still converse with your friends made for an excellent place to spend a few hours on a rainy evening. read more
