Smelly Cheesecake Cafe, I love you so "matcha"!…read more Sydney seems to be having a love affair with matcha as big names such as Café Cre Asion and Chanoma Cafe are topping the lists of must-visit places. Trendy, it is. Healthy, it is also! Matcha is known to be a superfood that is rich in nutrients and antioxidants, improves energy and increases energy levels to name a few benefits. Riding on this wave is The Smelly Cheesecake Cafe with some inspired matcha dishes, namely the matcha cheesecake which was absolutely phenomenal. The top layer of matcha was fluffy, added a pop of pale green color to an otherwise traditionally monochromatic dessert and the flavor was quite subtle but definitely noticeable. The bottom cheesecake was decadent, added a bit of tang and was supremely smooth and creamy. The matcha layer made up about 80% of the dessert while the actual cheesecake layer made up about 20% which may seem like a huge discrepancy but eaten together, it was the perfect concoction as it wasn't too rich, wasn't too sweet and wasn't too tangy. Portion-wise, it was a bit on the smaller side as it left me craving more. Before I talk about the iced matcha latte, I must preface this by saying that I'm a big fan of Starbucks' Green Tea frap. The one I had at the Smelly Cheesecake Cafe was much less sweet and just as creamy and refreshing. I don't have a single bone to pick when it comes to this spot. Plenty of comfortable seating, some pillows, inviting atmosphere and super friendly service! Perfect for a catch up session or even a date.

This place cops a bad rap for the appallingly rude staff - and this true. The little old lady is the nicest, but the two younger ladies often have a bit of attitude. But you can be like that when your cakes are this great! And in saying that as much as I dislike rude staff, I will continue going here because they're good.

The main attraction is the cinnamon, sugared chocolate coated twists. It reminds me of my time in Spain. Bring back the mornings of hot coffee and churros while the the wind is blowing and the temperature is below zero. The coffee was, yes very hot! Yippee. The service was lovely and the husband and wife team do a great job chatting with the customers. Apparently this is the first Aunt Lil's in Sydney where it is a chain in Melbourne. No doubt we will see more of this franchise.

They also have a gluten free range of cupcakes which look just as good, if not better, as the regular range. I am dying to try one of their cinnamon pretzels, that with a medium coffee is $7.50. Unfortunately for me, they had sold out of Creme Brulees (I arrived their at 3pm so i guess they must be pretty popular) However, FORTUNATELY for me, since I was already lured into the bakery and gawking at the delicious tarts, I had the urge to purchase two of the tarts (~$10 together) which I do not regret depositing most of my daily calories into. The furnishing of the interior and exterior of the store is quite retro and the feels of raw-ness, but its just the perfect balance. We ordered the following : -Big Mac meal medium with fries and sprite -Big Mac sandwich -quarter pounder sandwich After placing the order and paying it literally took 15-20 minutes for the food to come out. At one point I even inquired about the order being lost. But it came out soon enough. The Big Mac was a little light on the Big Mac sauce but none the less delicious. The quarter pounder was pretty good too. Staff was very busy as they had their hands full with customers in the restaurant and drive thru but they were doing a great job to get things moving along. 5 star always enjoy McDonald's in international countries specially if it is halal.

Service is poor. I rang up they say sorry and leave ur name so next time u come in will give it to u, No thank you never going there again.
