We grabbed seats at the bar, cooled off in the AC (which was working overtime in the sweltering heat), and enjoyed a couple of drinks while we waited. A cold Pacifico with lime definitely hit the spot. By the time our party of seven was finally seated, we'd already made a dent in the chips and salsa. Thankfully, the food didn't disappoint. Portions were generous, prices were very reasonable for a beach town, and everything came out fresh and flavorful. The biggest surprise was spotting lengua on the taco menu. That's not something you see everywhere, so of course I had to order it. The tongue was incredibly tender and well-cooked. My only suggestion would be to offer a salsa verde or salsa roja with the tacos--they deserve something with a little extra kick to bring all the flavors together. Overall, great food, fair prices, and a solid option when the rest of Carolina Beach is packed. I'd happily come back, especially for those lengua tacos.

The shredded lettuce with pico de gallo and guacamole was fresh and tasty. The rice was rice - and my kids couldn't get enough of it. Hubby's chimichanga was voted "really good" by the hubby. His refried beans were tasty, too. My only disappointment was with the kid's meal. It was a bland quesadilla and a small enchelada. There were no sides - I would have liked them to also get a little beans or rice or salad or something. For a drink I ordered their homemade horchata. It was very good and only cost about $2 for a large glass. You could even see the little bits of cinnamon in the bottom of the glass. They also have a homemade jamaica (hibiscus) drink that I assume would be just a good. We liked the place enough that we stopped back on Tuesday night for $2.99 margaritas and to buy the kids a fried ice cream. My daughter was amazed that the ice cream had actually been fried without melting. For about $4 the dessert was HUGE with a fried flour tortilla, a very large ball of fried ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. It was enough for all four of us to share. Our margaritas were also good. Much more potent than I expected for the special price. Only drawback is that it had to be on the rocks and I like a frozen Margarita. But at $3 for 16 ounces who's to complain. :)

My blackened and seared tuna took a different turn with the bacon, yet it melded well with the cabbage and the spicy mayo. My favorite - the blackened and grilled Shrimp taco - included Asian slaw and sweet chili sauce that complimented the char. Our friends ordered the seafood nachos which frankly looked liked the shrimp and other seafood were overwhelming the chips! If I had been hungrier, I would have ordered this monster! Soft drinks (Coke products), adult beverages, and "Sweet Treats" are also available. The bathrooms are inside the surf shop. Paid parking is right next to the store. No issue with the wait and the servers and staff were working hard and kind. That said, the prices were high for what you got and not having cups for water increased the dissatisfaction. We did enjoy the chips and the red salsa was good however our meals outside that were fairly flavorless. Pretty sure the only thing that was raved about was the Sangria Slush. I'm a fan of doing something and doing it well but not so sure outside the slush or the shrimp taco what the signature dish is here but it wasn't the specials, the seafood nachos, the beef, ahi tuna tacos.

La Cubano are not actually nachos but 2 big tostones topped with rice, onions, black beans, and shredded roasted mojo pork, fresh cilantro, and a dollop of sour cream. La Cubano was good, I would recommend this. The tostones were crispy and the roasted pork had a great citrus infused flavor. I liked how the rice had orange and yellow colors so it made the whole dish look colorful. This meal is oily and greasy so it might not fit if you're trying to eat a healthy diet. The carne asada nachos were yellow corn tortilla chips topped with rice, black beans, salsa, big carne asada slices, cilantro, and nacho cheese. It was good but would have been better with real cheese and guacamole. Overall, these were the perfect food to eat at a brewery and I would eat at this food truck again.

I picked up a Carnitas Plate, three pairs of Tacos (Al Pastor, Carne Asada, and Pollo Asado), and a six pack of Sol. The service was fantastic. The quality of the meat was impressive. The carnitas was especially moist and flavorful. The beans had a nice consistency and flavor. The tacos were tasty and well balanced. I couldn't decide if a squeeze of lime was all it needed or if a splash of salsa helped out. Everything was great. No disappointments at all. And we had plenty leftover. I wish more restaurants took this level of pride in their work. The prices aren't cheap and it's not about decor but the portions are generous and the quality is outstanding.
