This place is honestly such a hidden gem. Located next to Costco in Richmond, I Flip Gymnastics is such a huge space we had no idea about until a couple of parent friends mentioned it recently. They offer a variety of classes for multiple age groups, open gym hours, and more. I would do some research ahead of time matching your kiddos age ranges with the weekly schedule ~ our drop-in was around $20. I'm sure there are monthly rates and/or memberships, but we wanted to check it out first to see what the gym entailed. The staff is incredible nice, the families/kiddos who come are great, and I appreciate the open space format conducive to safe exploration and play. There does have to be a guardian present at all times, or at least for our time slot there does :) Equipment-wise, we were very impressed. This is most def a super-elevated Gymboree (or for us, the next step!). I'm not a gymnast so not sure the technical terms for the equipment, but from our fist time I noticed the open mat, climbing blocks, trampoline, foam pit, mini balance beams, rings, and more. For the kiddos, they get stamps at the end of the hour long sesh and fun music is played throughout. A trainer is present too. Overall, we will def come back again soon. There is safe parking adjacent to the building, and can't beat grabbing a few items/gas/snacks at Costco before or after class. Happy we have a space in the East Bay like this. Bravo! read more

We were at iFlip for close to two years with coaches who have moved on. We spent hundreds of hours there and supported the gym as it rapidly evolved from a small rec-focused gym to a large space that now supports multiple teams, classes, camps, and parties. Here are key takeaways: - Owners/Management, while friendly and kind in the beginning, became unpredictable and at times unprofessional. - This is a very busy gym and there is chaos, both inside the gym and in the parking lot. Poor space planning adds to this. There is no anchoring figure in the gym, leading to a general attitude of "anything goes" and best believe, it does. - The facilities are new, but not consistently maintained. Paint chips and loose staples have been present on the floor in the expanded part of the gym, "broken" signs on equipment sitting for weeks, unkempt and dirty bathrooms, and overcrowding in general does not make for a pleasant atmosphere. - some of the competitive coaches are inappropriate with their athletes, resulting in uncomfortable situations for all in the gym. The iFlip coaching approach and philosophy has been self-described as "old school" and "very strict". It is disappointing to see a gym full of young coaches repeating damaging attitudes of the past when the sport has made such progress over the past 10+ years. iFlip has potential, but if leadership can't accept feedback and take steps to improve their issues, nothing will change. read more

Just attended a birthday party here and it's so clean and nice. No worries about foot fungus like another local place where my son went to their camp and came back with athlete's foot that lasted 2 months. The staff were extremely nice to the kids and one of them helped my 4 year old on the balance beam when she tried to go on it and gave up. Thank you. I like that the clean bathrooms had stools and double sinks for the kids to wash their hands. read more

My child trained here for over 2yrs, and unfortunately our overall expierence was very disappointing, after spending that much time there, i expected a supportive and professional environment, but that was not what we expierenced. Important information about expectations and athlete progress was often unclear or not communicated at all. Consistent communication is so important when you trust a program with your child, and that piece was really missing. I also noticed favoritism among certain athletes. Some kids consistently recieved more attention and opportunities than others, which can be discouraging and unfair in a sport where every child should feel equally supported. At times my child also felt singled out and treated differently during practices, as if they were being picked on rather than coached constructively. That was especially hard to watch as a parent and really affected my childs confidence and enjoyment of the sport. In addition the overall atmosphere didnt feel very welcoming. There seemed to be a clique- like culture among some parents that came across as snobby and unapproachable, which made the environment uncomfortable instead of supportive and inclusive. After investing more than 2 years there , I expected a much more positive, professional, and encouraging expierence. I hope i flip works on improving communication, fairness, and creating a healthier environment for all athletes and families. read more

I have both my 5 year old and 2 year old enrolled here. This is a great facility. Ms. B teaches the tots class and she is great and super flexible with the kids and their attention spans. My 5 year old is in the kindergarten class and she LOVES it. They usually have several classes going at once so the littles get to see the bigger kids flipping around which is exciting for them. They are very organized having all class levels rotate through the equipment. The equipment is amazing. They have a foam pit with trampoline, tumble track, rings, mini parallel bars, uneven bars and the main floor is spring floor. The coaches really have the class timing down and make sure the kids get water breaks. Class sizes are great and the coaches are emphasizing good form which I really appreciate. We have looked into other gyms and couldn't justify the cost of some other local places but this is perfect. They also have off street parking which is an added bonus. read more

My daughters have been fascinated by other girls who can do cart wheels, it's like a super power! I had searched for gymnastics schools before and had found one that was extremely intimidating and the instructors were very pretentious. That school is no longer in business but wow am I glad I found this one. The same day I found it online I told my neighbor, she immediately enrolled her grand daughter and sent me photos and was elated on how much her grand daughter loved the class. Our classes were scheduled the same day as well and my kids were so happy and grateful that I signed them up. Literally they told me I'm the best dad for signing them up and how appreciative they were! Apparently they subconsciously teach gratitude as well. As we were exiting, I overheard a girl telling her dad how much she loves gymnastics, I believe the school and atmosphere have a huge role in that. The thing I really loved about this school is that they don't waste time, although it was their first time they were still getting into what gymnastics really entails. It's a huge confidence builder for those kids who may be on the cautionary side. The parking entrance is on the other side so instead of turning right off of central continuing driving for one more block then turn right. I highly recommend this school to any parent who wants a quality program for their children. read more

5 Year Old Birthday Party: We hosted a birthday party here for about ~20ish 5 year olds. I think this is a great party spot, especially for 4-6 year olds. They have a small party room where you can set up food/drinks/cake and we set up chairs inside the party room and on the side (i.e. spectator side) so that folks could sit and eat. I had tons of questions prior to me booking the package and before the party, and the folks at iFlip were so responsive and patient with me. :) Camp: My kids (ages 5 and 7) went to camp here for President's Week and they both raved about it nonstop and have been asking when they can go back. My understanding is that during camp, the kids are split up into different groups based on age. They had plenty of indoor gym time, as well as other non-gym activities (i.e. arts/crafts, outdoor time for things like soccer, tc.) so it was well rounded. read more

We have been to other gyms and iFlip is by far the perfect combination of all the things we hope as parents for our child. Just had our daughter's 7th birthday here and it was a blast! All the kids loved it and the instructors were great. They were so helpful from start to finish and were great with the kids. The kids really enjoyed the trampoline, foam pit and obstacle courses that were set up for them. I just wish the birthday time slot was 30 min longer! I can't stop raving about I Flip--it's absolutely awesome! The gym is the a great size, it has a ton of equipment for the kids to learn all of the different gymnastics skills and has a large floor space. The coaches are all very professional and also seem to be extremely knowledgeable. I have been blown away by watching the skills kids do in classes, it's truly impressive! They offer adult classes, which I would be interested to try one day, and they offer rolling enrollment for their teams, which is great if you miss the deadlines to try out for teams elsewhere. They also offer summer classes which is great for my 13 year old who is starting to out grow camps. Our coach is Vash, who has been exceptional. He's a phenomenal coach, and is able to tailor his coaching to her needs, blending fun and the necessary authority to teach effectively. His strength and attentive spotting make my daughter feel secure as she explores new tricks. She's super excited to work on more tricks with him and see what she can do! I Flip has been a game-changer for us, and I can't recommend it enough. It is especially nice if you need to pop out to Costco!!! We're beyond grateful to have them nearby! read more

Recently hosted a birthday party here (20 young kids), things generally went well. Two coaches were with us that day, Nate and Jocelyn and handled the kids patiently. A couple kids got some scrapes, but it didn't turn out to be an issue. A bit tight for all the adults sitting around, but manageable. Facilities were reasonably clean and in good repair. May be good for classes, but certainly not safe for birthday parties. they are under-staffed and have literally no safety protocol for kids. kids are not instructed on basic rules nor are reminded of common courtesies which can result in injury of other kids in this context. i had to interrupt one of the coaches after my child was injured as he was forced by other impatient kids to go on a balance beam un-spotted, and as a result fell, and fell hard. the child wanted to wait for a coach to come assist, but there were more kids than the coaches could safely handle. when i spoke to vash, an owner, days after the incident, he was largely unconcerned. I FLIP like most places force parents to sign off on a liability release. If parents are forced to do this, you would think there would be due diligence on their part to ensure safety protocols and/or adequate staff- they did neither. read more

We just held my daughter's 6th birthday there and it was an all around fantastic experience! Super easy and organized and all of the kids had a blast. Coaches Nate and Jocelyn were lovely with the kids and maintained a safe but super fun atmosphere. There is a separate room to have cake and food set up for when the kids are done playing - they even help make sure all the kids go wash their hands in the transition! We had my son's 4th birthday party at iFlip Gymnastics. Coach Nathan and Coach Josie were great! They made sure the children were being safe and having a great time on the equipment. The children had a lot of fun moving, exploring, and tumbling on the various apparatuses, especially the foam pit! Our son is very active, and this party hit the spot! A great time was had by all.
