It took the forecast of an eminent blizzard for me to gain the courage to try hot yoga. My experience was like a Savage Garden song. I walked in and was warmly greeted by a well-run check in system. Once I filled out my paperwork, I was given a key-card tag to swipe when I attend classes in the future - something I have never seen at a yoga studio. Complimentary mats are available for use. There is a retail side where you can purchase some really cool yoga clothes, mats, etc. Cubbies are available to stuff purses and shoes in before entering the yoga room. It is beautiful, inspiring and comfortable with red brick walls and only a few mirrors. An infrared heating system kept me warm, never hot. The music was recognizable and kept the pace of poses while the peaceful and encouraging instructor guided us. The strength and sweat class was challenging, but I could see any level of yogi coming in and feeling good with the modification options which were explained. Yes, I did sweat; no, it wasn't uncomfortably profuse. After the class I felt so good I looked up the benefits of hot yoga and found them: Detoxifies the body Increases circulation Strengthens the cardiovascular system Improves skin appearance Strengthens the immune system Reduces pain and cellulite Here's to courage, heat and Savage Garden-like love.

His presence is calming and soothing, his voice has wisdom and understanding, he made me feel comfortable like we were friends when we first met. His attitude and beliefs are backed by his own work on himself to restore his own health after major health problems. So I felt connected to him immediately. Even after one meeting where we just learned how to breathe, I left feeling like a new person. The hope that yoga brought to my world was a welcome and wonderful feeling. I look forward to each session with him as I know I will learn, grow and become more mindful of the moment and able to let go of my anxiety and stress and anger. The heat helps loosen your muscles, leaves you feeling refreshed, and adds an extra layer of challenge to the workout. I do miss it, though I'm at a different gym for the time being. One of the things I loved most about Hotworx is the convenience--you simply book your session through the app, head to your private sauna room, set the temperature to your preference, and follow the workout displayed on the screen. I usually went early in the morning since I often had the room to myself. The studio is open 24/7, and while staff have set business hours, you can always access the building with your phone. Occasionally, they even provided essential oils to enhance the atmosphere, which was such a nice touch. Before entering the sauna, you'll need their special yoga mat (shoes stay outside), and there are cubbies to store your belongings. Beyond the saunas, there's also a weight room so you can round out your training with strength exercises. The location is well-equipped with showers and a separate bathroom, making it easy to work out and freshen up without rushing home. The staff and members were always welcoming, which gave the studio a real sense of community. They also host workshops on proper technique as well as fun social events like block parties. I loved being a part of it and hope to return when it fits my budget again. If you've ever been curious, I highly recommend giving Hotworx a try. They usually offer your first session free, and they'll even provide the mat so you can experience the workout the way it's meant to be.
