Rest areas are areas next to highways where people can stop to rest, use the bathroom, or get food. You can use Google Maps to find the location of rest areas along your route. I like to look for ones that offer a scenic overview or something with a little something extra. We found it here. The parking area was easy to get into and get around. It was setup like a camp ground but over grown. Vending machine, clean restrooms and a scenic overview. Unfortunately when I attempted to find this overview I could not find the trail to take so we never went on an adventure here. My rating is not due to the establishment. It was fine; Clean, safe, and served it's purpose. The review is because of the reason I stopped and not able to find the view. Please mark this area better or remove the sign.

This is a pretty standard rest area along I-10 eastbound (there is another opposite for westbound) with separate lanes for cars and trucks. The bathrooms were reasonably clean and the parking lot was free of trash. Some shady spots this morning in case I wanted to get a nap but the WH coffee was still keeping me awake. This is one of the few rest areas I've found where the pet relief areas are so much nicer than the ones for us humans - Mississippi you may be proud of your state but you should be a shame of this place for some this is the first impression they get of your great state. The restrooms here are disgusting but the surrounding wooded areas are beautiful unspoiled forest with a few scattered picnic areas that provides a tranquil place to stretch your legs and relax and for a few I noticed a more natural cleaner setting to take care of business verses using the facilities, sometimes a nature walk can provide relief without anxiety or risk. Of course if you do choose nature's path please be considerate of the wildlife and don't screw up their environment by thrashing the place, if you have fear of the little critters that lurk in the dark then use the facility the state has provided, I promise the squirrels and rodents won't brave the filth and invade your space...

Nice spot. Plenty of trees. Clean and spacious for RVs. Dump station and let area. Picnic tables and bathrooms.

This is a nice rest stop to stretch your legs and use the restroom. The bathrooms had multiple stalls, and was air conditioned! They have a security person stationed so that you can safely stretch your legs and use the restrooms. They have a pet area for the furry friends to walk too! The scenic area is trees with picnic tables, this place gets 4 stars for being pretty and safe. They have vending machines but it was for sodas

Awesome help from these two gentlemen after we locked ourselves out . Thank you for helping us out and offering cool refuge to us while we waited for help

Awesome views and picnic areas setup like a campground; your own picnic table and parking spot. You could walk down to the water and fish.

One of the best places to visit during Christmas is in nearby Mobile County, Alabama, where they hosts "Magic Christmas in Lights" each year. Located on the grounds of "Bellingrath Gardens" it's one of the best Christmas light displays in the U.S. There is tons of info located in the lobby about all things Alabama. It's a great stop with a beautiful lobby with multiple Christmas trees for all your insta selfies & viewing pleasure. A beautiful large "park like" setting outside, with super clean restrooms inside. Highly Recommend.

They are at mile marker 65.8, so in essence, we know that I-10 through Alabama is roughly 66 miles long. My visit here was on August 25, 2022. The weather on this day wasn't so good. It would be nothing but rain all day long. Making this stop at the welcome center was totally needed to get out of the car for a bit, as well as getting off the rainy roads. It was coming down pretty heavy at times. It was great to get inside, use the restroom, and just check things out on the inside of the building. Due to the rain, I didn't do anything outside there on that visit. Even though it was raining, they do have plenty of open outdoor space here. Although the visitor center is open from 8 am to 5 pm, restrooms and such are open 24 hours daily. The Alabama Welcome Centers have all been very welcoming. The inside of the building was really nice. Let's start with the restrooms. The restrooms were in great shape. They were well stocked and clean. The rest of the welcome center was nice too. Each area of inside was broken down into different parts of the state. They were broken up into the Highlands, Plantation, Wiregrass, and Gulf Coast regions. It was very well organized. When traveling along I-10 West, you will go through the Wiregrass and then the Gulf Coast sections of the state. Overall, this was a very nice welcome center, which is something I have always experienced for the ones in Alabama. Even in bad weather, it is still worth making the stop to come inside. You can get maps, construction info for the state, and more. The staff there were great as well. If your travels take you into Alabama along I-10 West, you should definitely make that stop here.

However, this past Saturday was the first time I actually ever stopped there. The welcome center is only 20-25 miles from my final destination, but now that I have a child, every rest is a potential pit stop. Upon walking to the front entrance, I was immediately drawn to the six Honda Gold Wing motorcycles and the one Harley Davidson that were all parked near the front door. It was actually a group of motorcycle enthusiasts handing out pamphlets to remind people to look out for motorcycles; especially since May is Motorcycle Awareness month. They taunted me in a friendly was by shouting "Roll Tide" as they knew I was from Louisiana and probably an LSU fan. They were right and I immediately hollered "go Tigers"! But I digress. As soon as I walked in the door, I was immediately greeted by the cashier welcoming me to Alabama. There was a small gift store inside and it was chock full of people. However, the place was incredibly clean. Heck, even the restrooms were incredibly clean. Chalk one up for Alabama. (the state, not the football team) Now that diaper duty was complete, I headed back to my vehicle, only to be given a courteous goodbye from the cashier. It's nice to know that manners still exist!

Before my mom died her favorite story to tell was a story about me, at this Florida welcome center, when I was just 4 years old. One day we were traveling from my grandparents house in Louisiana (her parents home) back to our home, here in Pensacola. We lived here in Pirate'cola when I was a baby, my father was in the service here. Anyway, as the story goes, we were driving back from grandmas house about 2 and a half hours drive. Everyone wanted to stop for orange juice & I had to pee. I was 4 so orange juice was very important & I was very excited to get my orange juice. Anyway, back in those days I was a little majorette in Kindergarten. I was a very good baton twirler, had a snazzy little blue sequined one piece body suit & white cowboy boots that I wore on the field at the football game. Anyway, I was the smallest majorette with my tiny baton & tiny tiny little white cowboy boots. I was so adorable! I wore them to my grandmothers to show her how cute I was, obviously, and was still wearing my cute little white boots on the way home. So I waited & waited so excited to get my orange juice but it was taking longer than I expected to pull into the Florida Welcome Center. We pull in & I jumped out of the car, running to the bathroom to pee so I could go get my Orange Juice! But i didn't make it up the hill & peed in my little white boots. When my mom got up the hill to the entrance, I was barefoot sitting on the grass. She asked me where are your little white boots & I pointed at the trash can. lol After I peed in my little white boots, I obviously did not need them anymore. duh. Anyway, I did get my orange juice & a new pair of little white boots the next week as I was taught to never litter. Till this very day, every time I come into Pensacola & see that big Florida Welcome sign, I always remember how much I love Florida, my memories of my mother, her exquisitely untarnished love for me & the smell of fresh new white cowboy boots. Highest Recommendations.
