The Hotel Saint-Paul is truly a Parisian hidden jewel. We first stayed there over 20 years ago, and finally made it March '24, and were thoroughly overwhelmed by the fabulous remodel and had many unique touches, i.e., padded fabric on walls and totally modern baths. You cannot beat the central location with easy access to Odeon Metro as well as the shops of boulevard's Ste. Germain & St. Michelle. There are numerous great restaurants; shout out to Polidor (literally next door)!! However, despite the comments above...The staff (Stephanie and Valerie) at Hotel Saint-Paul are extremely knowledgeable about the area and Paris, they are gracious and go out of their way to make things happen!!! I called the hotel when our original accommodation in Paris was not satisfactory and engaged with Stepanie who got us in immediately. Just returned from Paris and was completely delighted with my stay at Hotel Saint Paul Rive Gauche. I've stayed in many hotels in Paris over the years but this was positively my favorite. The location is wonderful so near to Luxembourg Gardens and surrounded by good restaurants. The hotel is so charming and even though my room was facing the street it was surprisingly quiet. The staff was warm, friendly and helpful and manning the front desk round the clock. I loved the whole atmosphere-from the beautiful French fabric on the walls, to the wood beams in the ceiling. My husband and I, stayed here the last week of September. I chose this hotel specifically for it's location and because they had a room with it's own jetted jacuzzi tub. I knew with all of the walking we would be doing, I would want the benefit of a hot soak to ease my aching body. The hotel and tub did not disappoint. The hotel itself is a very nice, quaint, boutique hotel in a safe area. Very close to a metro stop and lots of cafes within walking distance. The daytime staff was phenomenal and very friendly and helpful. The night time staff, which was always a man, was friendly, but not as much as the staff throughout the day. The place was clean and beautiful and the breakfast we had every morning was just what we needed to start our days off (wonderful, strong French coffee and different yummy pastries). I knew the one thing that would have me not liking this establishment would be if the jetted tub (my sole purpose for booking) didn't work well, or there was not enough hot water. Thank goodness neither of those were an issue. This was a very deep, comfortable tub with what seemed like endless hot water. Exactly what I needed after leaving by 7:30am every day and not returning until after 1:00am every night. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because, even though they did provide a WiFi password and I had an international plan added to my cell service, I could not get my phone to connect and had no WiFi service while there. My husband's phone worked a little, but everything for this trip was on my phone. So, we were always having to connect to WiFi elsewhere to get tickets and addresses for things we were doing that day. But, all in all, a wonderful experience and not only would we stay here again, I would recommend this hotel to family and friends. read more

I had the pleasure of staying here during a spontaneous trip to Paris earlier this year. The location was close to a metro stop which made it easy to find. I was able to walk every where I wanted in the city. The staff was great and I felt safe and comfortable at this location. The front desk is always staffed, and when you leave the hotel, they keep your key for security. The rooms are on the small side, but you're visiting Paris, so your room really should just be to sleep anyways. You can get upgrades including macaroons on check in-I would highly recommend you consider those. read more

My wife and I were in Paris for 5 days and my wife had been here before. The room was pretty small, but the staff was amazing! The desk was super helpful in recommendations and it is located near Notre Dame and the Luxembourg Garden, which is an awesome place to grab a couple beers and sit by the fountain and watch the people. We got the package with a bottle of champagne and breakfast in the morning. Breakfast was lots of breads, some pate, brie cheese, hard boiled egg, coffee, rolled up slices of ham. A typical French light breakfast. Highly recommended for the location and service, plus they turn your room over ever day. read more

This hotel was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Mainly due to the location and the exceptional staff. It's on the same street as Polidor (a pretty good restaurant that serves classic home-cooked french food). On the other side, you can find Au Pere Louis, another great bar / restaurant with possibly the best French onion soup I've tasted. There are a ton of Japanese restaurants on the street as well. It's less than a 5 min walk to the Odeon stop and Jardin Luxembourg. Le Pantheon is only 10 min walk. You can also walk to the Louvre and Notre Dame in about 20 mins and save yourselves a few carnet tickets. As for the staff, Stephanie was especially helpful! She pointed us in the right directions, gave us suggestions on where to go, what to eat, and what type of metro passes to buy. The younger gentleman working at night printed out several maps of places for us when we needed a place to eat at 3 AM and found a pet store so we could bring back some souvenirs for our dogs back home. They also printed our Anne Frank house tickets for Amsterdam. To top it off, they have a super cool cat named Skype (even though I'm allergic, I couldn't resist petting him). Apparently he's the boss of the place, so don't piss him off! After being spoiled at the Doubletree in London though, we weren't exactly thrilled with the aesthetics of this hotel from the taxi. From the outside, it looked fairly old, and from the inside, it looked pretty old too. The looks of this hotel were pretty much the only cons about this hotel IF you prefer a modern look and feel. I thought it felt like I was in late 19th century France. :) As for our room (#36), it was fairly large, with a queen size bed, and french windows that opened out to a view (not the greatest) of a school I believe. The bed was neatly tucked in, with 4 pillows. , there were nightstands on each side of the bed, a single chair at a smallish desk, and footstool as well. The room was equipped with a regular flat screen TV (26-30" max), only 1 electrical socket (which we had to unplug the TV to use), a fridge with a bunch of drinks and snacks, and a safe. For the drinks and snacks, you have to write down what you take yourself, onto a sheet they give you upon checking in. While staying there, they were renovating the interior. They put up new wall paper, redid some of the walls, and were putting in new light fixtures. I wonder what else they'll do to spruce up the place. This was our first time in Paris so choosing a hotel was a big deal. My daughter and I arrived into Paris late in the afternoon and immediately the front desk staff was friendly and welcoming. Having very little French skills we were worried that it would be tough to communicate, however that couldn't be further from the truth! Everyone we encountered during our stay knew English and was happy to accommodate any of our needs. The hotel has a nice breakfast, perfectly located to easy Metro access and is situated in a quiet area for a restful night. We plan to return to Hotel Saint Paul again in the future! read more

Overall we spent a total of 8 nights at this small boutique hotel in the heart of the Paris Latin Quarter. All I can say is "C'est Magnifique!" as overall it was a magnificent experience. The accommodations and the service provided by Valerie and all her staff at the hotel was second to none. Hotel staff was always very helpful and always had a very friendly and welcoming disposition when interacting with us. Every day upon returning to our room everything was spotless and all was in order. Our room had a window to the street which was excellent as my wife and I would open up the room to the fresh air and Paris sounds in the evenings which was great. Hotel staff also did an excellent job of providing recommendations for restaurants or directions wherever possible which is great; however, there are really no shortage of great places to eat in Paris. I want to also say that Marcel who is the taxi driver that works with the hotel to provide pickup or drop off to the hotel (from airport, train stations, etc.) was very affordable, nice and helpful as well. We also found that the hotel was very close to several public metro train stations such as "Odeon" and "St. Michel-Notre Dame" that pretty much are a good starting points to moving anywhere around Paris. If you are looking to have an excellent Paris hotel experience with hotel staff that are really willing to help as much as possible then look no further then Hotel Saint Paul Rive Gauche. I have to admit that I was disappointed by my stay at Hôtel Saint-Paul Rive Gauche, especially after having read such glowing reviews. Here are my thoughts: What I liked: - The location. I enjoyed the hotel's proximity to the Luxembourg Gardens and Musée de Cluny, and there were a lot of good, fairly inexpensive restaurant options in the nearby Latin Quarter. - The L'Occitane body products in the room. - The wallpaper in our room was charming. What I didn't like: - The housekeeping staff. Okay, so this was a very strange problem. Every day for unknown reasons, the maid would throw away the complimentary soap in our bathroom and then not replace it! So, every evening, we would have to go to the desk to ask for more, and when we would explain what was happening, the concierge on staff always seemed extremely skeptical and irritated. Finally, after complaining about it several times, we bought our own bar of soap at a pharmacy, and the maid thought a great place to put it was inside one of the two drinking glasses in our room. (???) - The desk staff. The way the concierges responded to the aforementioned problem with the soap was unfortunately emblematic of our experience as a whole. We consistently found the concierges to be rude and unhelpful - when checking in and checking out, asking for directions or recommendations, etc. - The room itself. Knowing that rooms in Paris tend to be small, my friend and I reserved a superior twin room (bigger than the economy or classic rooms) and nevertheless found it to be quite tiny. The beds were not especially comfortable, and while I'd been looking forward to having a bathtub in our room, it turned out to be very narrow. Also, one day we returned to the strong smell of new paint, which was a little frustrating because we hadn't been warned about it. I'd been debating between Hôtel Saint-Paul Rive Gauche and a few other options Paris and wish I had chosen differently. I wouldn't come here again. read more

Best part about this hotel was definitely the staff. The people at the desk were always so friendly and helpful. The location is pretty good, a bit of a long walk to landmarks, but if you like walking and seeing the city like me, it's a beautiful neighborhood. The rooms were serviced often so it was always clean. The rooms are very contemporary and beautiful, as well! My only complaint is the breakfast. In their defense, there didn't seem to be many people at breakfast every morning, but considering the room price I felt the breakfast should have been much larger. I've stayed at hotels half the price with double the options. Only one bowl of fruit, some bread, cereal, orange juice...They have an espresso machine so you can ask for cappuccinos and they keep almond milk which is great for vegans like myself. I couldn't have been more impressed! I traveled through France and part of Switzerland solo for 2 weeks, and this by far, was my favorite hotel. The location was excellent, very safe, lots of good restaurants very close by, close to the Metro and RER, and a short walk to the Jardin du Luxembourg, Sorbonne, and Pantheon. My room was nicely decorated, very clean, had a nicely stocked min bar, and included lovely L'Occitane Shampoos, Body Soaps and Lotions (after my stay, I'm obsessed with this band of skin care.) Initially, I was a little put off that I had to turn in my key whenever I left, but in the end, I grow to really appreciate it. The amazing staff would ask me questions about my plans for the day (not in an obtrusive way) and offer suggestions on best ways to get there and what to do and see in the area. Another perk of having to turn in your key, is that you're never bothered by room service, since they have a way of knowing when you're out of your room. I could go on and on about how great the staff was, but just know that they're helpful, engaging, offer great restaurant recommendations, and speak very good English! As for the breakfast, it was great. My only wish is that the offerings changed a little bit daily. After 4 days, I was a little tired of having the same thing. The coffee was the best that I had in Paris! Lastly, if you don't have an International cell phone plan, I highly recommend utilizing the WiFi Hot Spot devices that the hotel offers. For $8/day ( I think it was $ and not Euro), they'll provide you with a device that you carry with you and allows you to connect to the internet anywhere/anytime. As a Solo Traveler, I was so happy to have this! So worth the money!!! Additional perks include a laundromat right across the street, a small market next door and a bike rental kiosk on a side street just south of the hotel. While it's a nice easy walk to Notre Dame, the Louvre, etc, my tired legs were happy to be able to jump on a bike when they had enough of walking. My stay at this hotel during the week of Paris Photo in November was my second and my earlier visit was before the extensive renovations that have been done to the interior, renovations that beautifully brightened and updated the rooms without changing its gracious ambience. What sets this hotel apart, aside from the homey charm of feeling as if you're in a converted house, is the staff, which was uniformly helpful and friendly. I had been struck down with the flu last time I was here for a week, and they could not have been more concerned and involved, sending a doctor and a platter of food when I was too sick to come downstairs and showing real concern. This time I was healthy but the interest and involvement of everyone from the owner Marianne on down was the same, I'm happy to say. Others have detailed the various amenities, the breakfast--yes, it's the same every day but there are many options to choose from so it's easy to create variety by changing your choices--the Occitane shampoos, body soaps and lotions, the location on a charming street that is lively at times without being rowdy, the phone device as an option, plenty of wi fi sockets, a safe, etc. For me, the hotel combines Old World charm with modern conveniences, in a great location. I am 8 years old and I stayed here in room 2 with my family. The breakfast was awesome!! The room had two floors and a spiral staircase. I slept very AWESOMELY there. Everybody who worked there was very nice and spoke English. The nearby restaurants were terrific. The metro and RER were very close. The lobby chairs were very comfortable. Mom of 8-yo-adds: This hotel was lovely. It was comfortable and quiet and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The location was convenient. It was my first time in Paris and I would definitely stay here again.
