I stayed here for a few weeks. The staff was very friendly and helpful. That was about the only positive about the stay here.
The rooms themselves are very small and have no air conditioning. Even the heat radiators seemed to be turned off during the day. No room safes, refrigerators, or any other amenities other than the small TV. The bathroom was strangely arranged and the front of the toilet felt like it was right up against the wall. The shower would stop every 20 seconds or so unless you kept pushing a button.
The breakfast didn't have the standard eggs and meat. Just some cold ham slices and eggs you had to boil yourself. The restaurant food was expensive, and there's no room service. No meal service at all for lunch or any time on weekends, and without a refrigerator or any cooking devices in the room means that you have to go out and eat - a lot.
The hotel closes for several hours during the day - the lobby is completely locked down and the elevators are turned off. Also during much of the weekend. So if you have mobility issues and can't use the stairs very easily, you're out of luck. The hotel is just across the street from the stadium, which would probably be nice if you were only staying there so you could attend a match. Otherwise, it just meant lots of noise and traffic for anyone else staying at the hotel who needed to get in or out. They also lock up the parking lot, so you have to go in to the lobby (hopefully it's open) and ask them to unlock the gate - frequently.
This all had me wondering if perhaps France just had a different standard for hotels, but as I traveled more through France, I found that all of the hotels were much nicer (and even much less expensive).
Normally, I could still at least give a star for the friendly staff, but the hotel itself was just too bad for me to do that. Several times, I found hair (not mine) in the "fresh" sheets and towels. You can hear everything that goes on in the hallway and there are doors slamming all hours of the day and night. On 3 or 4 different occasions, I found those orange beetles crawling on the walls in my room. My colleagues all mostly had the same complaints about their experience as well.
In summary - great front desk staff, terrible hotel. read more
