We give it five stars not because it is a luxury property with perfect appointments but because it the fit the bill perfectly for our visit. We stayed there over Christmas/New Years with our 2 college-aged children. Having taken the overnight train from Perpignon we arrived very early in the morning, tired and hours before official check-in. We had booked two rooms, one for us and one for the kids.
Initially the desk clerk could not help us with a room. However the day manager (Marion or Marilyn?)overhearing our conversation suggested that if we would take two singles, one for each child(19 and 22) they could have them ready within the hour. This was an absolute blessing. We had a chance to a have a quick bite and then at least have a place to take showers and get ready for the day. We appreciated her going out of her way to accomodate us.
The hotel itself is in a great location as previous posts mentioned, near both the St. Georges metro and Pigalle. There are a number of nice places to eat very closeby. It is close to a number of attractions. You can walk to a great deal, the Opera House, Montmarte and Sacre Coeur. The rooms are quite comfortable, not large but nicely appointed. The beds are comfortable and the linens were nice. Towels are a bit on the tiny side. The walls are thin and you can hear the activities in other rooms. Frankly this was not a problem as we usually returned exhausted each evening. We had a balcony and our children both had views of a lovely courtyard. the breakfast was a high standard of the usual European-hotel morning fare, breads, juices, meats, cheese, cereal all served in a comfortable lobby room. It was a great bonus that they served beverages and pastries in the evening. read more
