Okay, we are Americans and so you might think our view on French food would be suspect. Service was fast for france. Prices fair. My wife and I shared one order (3 Euro surcharge) and still, it was more than we could finish. Very tasty. Dessert was a lemon meringue pie of sorts, only better than any I have had. It was highlighted with what tasted like key lime sorbet. Yum. You won't be disappointed. BTW it looks fancy from the outside which might make you decide to take you poorly dressed self to one of the seemingly last fancy restaurants on the street. We weren't dressed particularly well but were treated very nicely so that shouldn't prevent you from eating here. And if you think that the other restaurants will be less expensive that would be incorrect. They are all about the same price. Of course having not eaten in the other restaurants I can't give you a comparison all I can say is that my wife and I found this to be a very nice restaurant.

Like in old novels, behind a door on a cobbled street, is a hotel and a tavern for any lost soul that happened to be here. In fact, it seems the place is very popular - during our short 20 minute conversation with Anne, who I assumed was the owner, she answered two phone calls asking for reservations months in advance. I take it we were here in a low season and thus managed to book it mid-afternoon the same day. Upon booking, we immediately got a call back from Anne, asking whether we would like to have a dinner and confirming the arrival time. This place is simple, old and uniquely charming, with a personal touch on everything you may see. It is a perfect mix of all things old with a modern twist. Impeccably remodeled rooms (ours was hidden high under the roof) with low ceilings and a fireplace, but all modern amenities - brand new windows, showers, heating units. A spacious green terrace on the hill hugging the building that you would never know is there looking just from the street- with lounge chairs and dinning tables. An old bar with 4-5 wooden tables, serving locally brewed beer. A small counter offering local specialties - jams, preserves, honey, soap. A bright breakfast room with everything your heart desires, including a Nespresso machine, for the addict in you. Tiny details here and there that are so well put in place. I don't know how this family does it and I was astonished how well the place is run. Anne seemed to have a small team of maybe 2 or 3 people that prepared a delicious dinner for a dozen or so guests. Talk about local ingredients - I bet it all has been sourced from the nearby hills. Food was delicious and worthy of any high end Parisian spot. Rooms were spotless clean. Common areas smartly designed and cozy. Breakfast room was ready at 8 am to serve any guests who wanted to leave early. Rooms were quiet and you could get a feeling you are the only one in the whole house. All in all during our 10 day road trip in France this was the best place we stayed at. I am so happy we found it online, as this is one of those nights the memories of which will last forever.

It was a warm summer day and we got a table on the beautiful terrace with amazing valley views. Our Bulldog was welcome here as well. Parking is just out front. We both chose the three-course set menu, a bottle of water and a bottle of Pouilly-Fuisse (great wine). There was an amuse-bouche served first and then an appetizer. Both full of flavours and a work of art visually. For the starter we had the Foie Gras mi-cuit. We do love Foie Gras and this one here was among the very best we've ever had. Perfection. For the main we had the Filet de Boeuf with side. The meat was cooked as ordered and cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy. High quality meat. The potatoes with the Béchamel Sauce were great and a perfect match for the meat. We chose two different desserts. One was a chocolate/nut cake and the other was a fruit mousse with sorbet. Both again absolute masterpieces. Visually and taste-wise. Desserts are always, in our opinion, the hardest part to pull off. And they got a real master in the kitchen here. A very exciting meal without any fault. The staff / owner were all great. Really took care of us well, very friendly and welcoming. Paid just a bit under 150 Euros. And that's amazing value for the food, the presentation and the quality. Highly recommended.

(This is long overdue review from my Provence lavender tour)…read more We all have one place in the world we want to come back to. Mine would be Floure. Driving down from Carcassonne, you turn to narrow straight road, lined perfectly with trees, that leads you to quiet town of Floure. Locals gather at the entrance to stare and greet, and just around the corner is a Chateau. Grounds are simply marvelous, old buildings, gardens, a lot to take in. Decent size rooms with AC (yes, it is unusual for this region - I am grateful for it in this hot summer!) Half-board is a good option to get if they still offer it, food here is very, very good. Dinner service, food itself, and wine, of course - all top notch. Local bread is delight. Strolling in the gardens or sitting by fireplace on colder nights after dinner, just enjoying the time here - a wonderful place to be. I WILL come back, Floure!
