After my first Dr had moved too far away, I have never felt like I was being listened to at any other practice, but here I was given total attention and the full allotment of my paid time. Dr. Jacobawitz is thurough when needed while understanding the importance of brevity on other topics. To the point without sacrificing empathy, willing to share his own thoughts without expecting you to automatically agree. After my first meeting I was releived to have finally found a provider that seems to take pride in their work and truly strive to put the best interests of patients first.

Upon entry to the facility, I was greeted and sat by Norm the NP, only to be immediately left by myself in his office (probably instructed to fill out some forms or BS survey for quick evaluation--as many mental health professionals tend to love to dole out). Shortly thereafter, I was joined in the room by some grad student (still no licensed professional present - Where had NP Jacobowitz gone?) who promptly asked for my life story regarding my mental health history, including very personal details. First of all, I was never asked for consent for a student to sit in--much less sit in, ALONE, without a professional present--so I guess that's on me for not questioning it at the time. Second, how could the professional himself expect to evaluate a patient to whom he'd not yet spoken? It makes no sense. Once lady grad student was done taking down my personal history, Jacobowitz returned to the room to "diagnose" me and offer advice. Advice included drastically altering my then-current medications, encouraging me to be selfish, making me feel like my employer (with whom I held a personal relationship) cared nothing for me, judging my lifestyle, and overall causing me extreme discomfort. I have no idea where the positive reviews prior to mine came from, but I was fooled into seeing this guy after many years of fear caused by similarly heinous psychiatric appointments with ACTUAL doctors. If you've been through this routine, you undoubtedly know how scary it can be to entrust a brand new person with such extremely sensitive and personal aspects of your life. As soon as I left the building I burst into tears. Pretty sure that's a bad sign.

For the past 6 years I have been on wait lists for therapy, counseling, evaluations, etc. I spent thousands on private tutoring, several thousand on counseling sessions, multiple co-payments on evaluations for occupational therapy. After finally getting a neuropsych evaluation and an assessment at schools - was able to get a 'diagnosis' of ADHD, anxiety, short term memory deficiency and extremely low recall speed. From there I discussed it with someone that had used Dr. Carlton who was very happy and so I immediately signed up for a free evaluation. His brain mapping was able to come up with a treatment plan which he said would take several sessions to notice a difference. My child and I both signed up to do sessions. After a few sessions I definitely noticed I was *way* calmer in my "moments of frustration", things that bothered me before didn't seem to be such a big deal anymore. I also was sleeping better! But let me talk about my child. Within maybe 4 sessions (at most) - out of nowhere, suddenly the executive functioning struggles and anxiety were WAY less. Doing homework on their own, remembering assignments, packing lunch the night before, "planning" the mornings out before school, not being in a panic rush about everything. Within the same week homework assignment grades start coming back. An "A" - Have never seen one of those! Another "A" - Wow! Some B's where "Fs" were last month. What has happened! Remarks from teacher that they are noticing something is different! This is amazing! I knew it had to be this because not a single other thing had changed. There was a time (almost 2 weeks) of flu illness where no sessions were done (about half way through the series of the first 20) and about that time the anxiety crept back in, yelling/being upset about little things - but as soon as we were able to get back on track, that went away. We did sessions at home, which is a little easier (for scheduling) but harder (because life gets in the way, so we were not as diligent as we should have been and would have had even more astonishing results if stayed on track). We are not done yet (will be doing another round of 10 after a new brain mapping) but I wanted to share the absolute amazing success we've had - what a difference it's made in our family dynamics, a more peaceful environment and more joy because the 'fog' has gone away and we can be more present in the moment. I can't say enough great things, I would highly recommend every single person that even thinks "maybe" this could help them to give it a try. I love that he really just wants to help people and offered us the 0% financing in-house making it affordable (cost is actually les than I expected). We did buy a cheap (used) laptop (for $50 on marketplace) to use for the at-home to have just a dedicated device since my Mac wasn't compatible with the program, but the equipment is otherwise on loan (I paid a deposit). I only wish we had found this sooner but am super grateful that I did find it though I feel bad when I see others suffering from similar and think "if they'd just go give this a try!!!" - so hopefully this review helps anyone that may be on the fence about it.

I have been a patient at a couple of other clinics in Gainesville, VA since July of 2024, and when my prognosis grew stale and outcomes were either unchanged or actually regressed I searched for different options. Kayla actually seems to listen to me each time I visit and addresses my issues with manipulation, massage, and exercise recommendations. I recently updated my treatment plan with my podiatrist and Prime PT had implemented the changes to my treatment plan in time for my next visit (proactively, which is a big change from other providers). I will continue as long as needed for weekly and then infrequent visits when my issues become more manageable. I truly enjoy, and don't dread my sessions here and couldn't recommend them more.

There is to this day a stigma surrounding mental health issues. But we as a society need to talk about them - as there is a lot that can be done to help folks out when they need help. Before last year - I never understood why anyone would need to go talk to someone such as a psychiatrist, psychologist, or counselor. But I learned the hard way last summer. My hope is that in writing this review - it will help out others - to let them that know that they need to pursue assistance, get help, talk about these issues and get the issues into the light of day - and get back on the right track! When my Mother passed away last summer - I was pretty stressed out over her passing. I did not do a very good job of dealing with the stress, grief, and anxiety of losing her. My primary care physician wanted me to go talk with a counselor to help me get through this difficult period of time. This was corroborated by the two psychiatrists I went to visit for first and second opinions. They both felt I was experiencing some generalized anxiety over the loss of my Mom. So I started to visit with Eve Radin, an LPC. initially I wasn't sure what to expect, but Eve has this calming effect and she started working with me to find ways to deal with, manage, and reduce my stress. For the first six months or so, I'd go and visit with her once a week. I actually looked forward to the sessions - knowing that I was making progress and with her help am getting back to where I wanted and needed to be. Highly recommended!

They will charge your insurance & take your copay, but wont stand behind their practice if they are asked to come to court. I saw them numerous times.

I'm a runner, I lift weights, and I love hiking - prior to Dr. Gluck general practioners said, "well, just do no impact excercises" to which i replied, "i don't understand". I was prepared with this entire explanation of how low/no impact excercise simply wasn't an option for me, and i didn't even need it. Apparently, excercise (in my case) actually HELPS with my loose ligaments, wouldn't you know, building the muscles around the areas which support those ligaments is actually better than complete neglect? I have to go back to him to get a Doctor's note to get an ergonomic keyboard and mouse for work (to match my pocket protector and horned rim glasses), and am glad to do so. Also, the location is right around many other doctors as well as the PW hospital, so depending on what you need, it's possible to knock out a few doctors appointments in one day (particularly if you don't work anywhere near manassas and driving out there to go to the doctor is a pain).

Our children have been patients at two of the "top-rated" pediatricians as we've moved over the years--and this is the only practice where you're truly treated as a person, not just a number. But if you want a true care team--literally two doctors who will know your children by name, provide thoughtful and individualized treatment, and actually keep you informed--this is the place for you. When I first called, Anastasia let me know they're a smaller practice. So yes, I may wait on hold for a couple minutes while they're helping another patient--but I'll take that any day over the rushed, impersonal care we've experienced elsewhere. At the other offices, they'd order multiple bacterial infection tests based only on symptoms I described over the phone--without even seeing my children. That's not care--that's just billing insurance as quickly as possible. Sky Valley is the complete opposite. Here, they take the time to listen, assess thoughtfully, and treat your family like their own.
