I believe my computer shut down during an update. When my wife finally got my computer to boot up it was a mess. I recently dropped my laptop and cracked the screen. I brought it in to Hyperion and was quoted $170 to replace it (ouch). They would need to order a replacement and would give me a call when it was ready. I dropped it off on a Monday and was pleasantly surprised when I received a call from them the following Monday to let me know it was ready for pick-up. I took my laptop to Hyperion after I had upgraded it to windows 10 and had currently lost the workability of the CD player. The tech knew immediately what was wrong and said new software had to be installed and advised me to opt for the free version which he would install for $20.00 (he could have charged me a hundred and I would not have known I was being overcharged) and he had me all finished up in 15 minutes. My hard drive failed and I hadn't backed up my work or my photos in almost a year. I took it to Geek Squad and they said they couldn't retrieve anything and I would need to send it out and pay $300-$1200 to recover my documents. Called Hyperion. They were very kind and understanding. He asked us to bring it in so he could look and see if he could try anything. Before we left he felt confident he could do something for us. I was impressed with how fast they were able to fix my daughters bad ps4, it would have been a long 3 day weekend without it. Brought it in last Tuesday hoping we'd get it back, possibly by Friday. If I could give them a negative star rating I would. My friend has taken his Mac laptop to them numerous times, they keep it for several weeks and they haven't fixed anything. He thought he was doing me a favor and took my Dell notebook to them to repair. They had it for several weeks and said it was fixed, but they just caused more problems. If they can't fix computers they shouldn't advertise that they can. I am very disappointed with their service. read more

They were very polite and professional. However, after their "free" diagnostic they messed up the computer so bad that I could not do a simple upgrade myself which is "supposed" to be your option when they returned the computer to me. The computer was unusable when I got it home and I had no choice but to pay them to fix it. I will not be going back. read more

Zero/5 . They're fools at best and crooks at worst. They treat anyone who discovers their incompetence with open hostility. I heard about this place on the radio and I wanted to support my local business since I moved to Springfield for school. These people know the bare-minimum about computer repair. I'll give you the bare bones of my story: -A single hour of research narrowed it down to 3 different possible causes for my problem and solutions. -I take my computer and they offer to check it out for free. I tell them what I found. -4 Days later they still aren't done checking it out. -Finally they want to try reinstalling my Operating system, which I lost the CD for. -Says it will cost $145 for an OS and another $150 or something to backup content and install the new OS. (Windows 7 runs about $100 to $120) -They say it will take FOUR DAYS to do this. I built my computer. Depending on how good a computer is, it can take 2 to 6 hours to install an operating system. It's the simplest thing you can do, just start it and walk away. -They dispute this with me over the phone. I demand my computer back -When I arrive the owner is aggressive with me and get's in my face about about being rude to his employees and about how I'm wrong about the time required to backup and reinstall an OS. (I admit I am rude to people to try to rip me off) -He was angry, very aggressive, and tried to intimidate me with his size. Epilogue I took it to the computer repair guy I know in Decatur. It turns out I just had too many video games on my computer, many of which were BETAS and thus, unstable. He fixed the problem under an hour and spent another hour running it through tests to make sure it was fixed. Only charged a little over $100. When I described what the other place claimed he laughed and said, "That sounds like a bad joke." Since then the computer has actually run HOTTER and I can't run the sames games I used to. HYPERION ACTUALLY MADE MY COMPUTER WORSE. I suggest you take it to Tony at Tampasis Computer Systems in Decatur, IL. It's worth the small drive. He'll fix it right there in front of you. read more
