Newly recabled, fixed shifter, new seat with Phil's recommendation! Put over 500 miles on this since

Everyone think's they are mechanically inclined to get a used bike and fix it themselves. Hahaha... yeah, no. That all comes with experience. Doesn't matter if you have surgeon or mechanic hands. Phil at Hypercat has plenty of both. Man has been in the game for a while and super knowledgeable and kind enough to share information to us plebians. In me and my friend group, we all picked up cycling and thought no big deal, we work on cars and youtube is there. We got this. Um, sort of. Little things are no problem. On the other end, some stuff that seem like a little thing becomes big problem. When we bring our problem to Phil, he fixes that issue with ease and explains to us what you should look for. He isn't only fixing our bike, he is educating us. He even mentioned he wants to bring back classes once covid is done. This guy so humble, he is willing to teach people how to fix or build your bike when that is something he could easily not do and make money off a customer. I picked up a used franken bike that road fine but needed some work. Quickly turned into needing a lot of work after going for a couple of rides. Bike was fixed while retaining the same parts (hooray Campy for rebuildable shifters!) and went out and did 85 miles the next ride. Do yourself a favor and visit this shop. Get stoked and walk out learning something new. I'll be back to further support this business!

I drive from Tarzana to Ventura for Phil. He's a very special guy, great heart, totally honest, and highly skilled. He spends as much time as you need. He loves his work. His wife is a former pro athlete. He's an athlete. A perfect combination! I am a triathlete with several bikes and today I'm here with a friends bike. I pass many shops to get here and I do it with joy. I can't say enough about Hyoercat! Thank you Phil!

We had fun, got a workout and that machine is larger and heavy. Yesterday we got the two person surrey and it was better for the two of us. It is so fun riding along the little beach roads, and having a roof keeps the sun off us. We at first wanted two hours, but one hour was just right. Every time we come to the Ventura beach we will be back. Thanks to the employees and Wheel Fun Rentals for a fun time.

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst rental experiences I've ever had. The problems started before we even left. The bikes had to be swapped out due to mechanical and maintenance issues while we stood waiting. Once we received functioning bikes, there was no safety briefing, no route guidance, no discussion of local riding conditions, and no meaningful instructions beyond handing us the bikes. What was most alarming was the complete lack of concern for customer safety. My wife's seat had been adjusted too high. Within approximately ten feet of leaving the rental area, and in full view of three employees, she lost balance and fell directly onto the pavement. Not one employee came over to check on her, offer assistance, or ask if she was injured. Nothing. Despite this, my wife wanted to continue riding, so we attempted to salvage the experience. The bikes themselves were poorly maintained, and our confidence in the equipment and operation was gone almost immediately. My bike kept changing E levels throughout the short ride. We returned the bikes in less than two hours despite paying for a four-hour rental. When asked how our experience was, I honestly replied that it was terrible. The response? "That's too bad." No concern. No questions. No apology. No attempt to understand what went wrong. From the condition of the bikes to the lack of safety procedures, customer service, and basic human concern, this operation felt careless and unprofessional from top to bottom. I would never rent from this location again, and I certainly would not feel comfortable bringing children or inexperienced riders here. There are plenty of places to rent bikes. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend choosing one of them instead.

Huge shoutout to Robert and Caesar at Ventura Cycling Center!…read more I brought in my classic 1971 Schwinn that probably hadn't been ridden in decades. Robert got a new tire installed while Caesar tag-teamed on getting the right brake pads installed to get her roadworthy again. Now I'm cruising under the summer sky on a bike that's hitting the streets for the first time in over 50 years! The entire experience was fast, friendly, accommodating, and transparent from start to finish. It's rare to find a team that genuinely cares about helping you bring a piece of history back to life. Couldn't ask for more. Highly recommend!

They made promises they never kept, delayed updates, and ignored our concerns for weeks. The biggest issue was how they handled our money. We felt like they were trying to scam us by charging unexpected fees and making it extremely difficult to get a refund or even a clear explanation of where our payment had gone. Every time we asked for answers, we were met with excuses or no response at all. If you're thinking about buying from this company, I'd strongly recommend being cautious. Make sure you get everything in writing and understand exactly what you're paying for before sending any money. Based on our experience, the service was terrible, communication was awful, and the entire process left us feeling completely taken advantage of. I won't be doing business with them again.

A woman answered the phone and was patient and friendly with all of my questions. When I arrived at the shop later that day to test ride the Trek Madone SL 7, she remembered me and was again so patient and kind in answering all of my questions. She even installed my pedals on the bike so I could take it for a proper ride around the neighborhood. The bike felt amazing. When I returned, she explained the slightly different versions of the Madone so I could better understand whether I might want a different model. She was not pushy at all--just very knowledgeable, attentive, and informative. She also gave me space to think about the purchase. I made sure to ask her name so I could write this review--Jeanna Lee. I had such a great experience with her and with the Ventura Trek store in general. The whole staff was friendly, the shop was spacious and well laid out, and they had the exact make and model in stock so I could try it. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience and am truly grateful for Jeanna's help.

I ordered a bike and gave a down payment then was told a week later that they cannot get the bike due to back house issues that she was not willing to discuss with me. After speaking with Trek corporate I was informed they absolutely can refund credit cards and should. Hopefully the kind gentleman Chris I spoke to follows through and removes this manager from their store as he said, they do not typically put up with people who do this in their stores.
