We actually board now at her daughter, Stacy's kennel called Ameridae. Love them! Her daughter referred me to Hylock's consulting trainer (Ameridae uses same consultant). After a lot of money spent elsewhere in training, the trainer here did wonders. Not cookie cutter training. She evaluated her at our home, the kennel and more. Then spent time at our home with what she called the "game plan" (we have boys in sports so that was perfect to peak their interest and keep them involved). She gave us the tools and techniques we needed to begin helping our Baby become her best. The "behavior modification" as she called it focused on our biggest concerns on our list first and we worked from there. Very personalized and what we needed at much more reasonable cost as we were able to save by doing most of the work ourselves. She was more of a coach in our situation and we made the "play" happen. We loved her fun way of using words that the boys understood in her fun way, She was serious and to the point too. She asked questions and answered ones off our list at follow-up. This time we could train our Baby because we understood more about her and why she struggled to be able to help her. We now understand that teaching her with corrections can be fun and creative even with her shyness. She has strong separation anxiety and other problems. At rescue they said she was shy when we adopted her . We love her but she had a lot of other problems underneath. Not so much shy as nervous. She now can ride in the car without vomiting (still drools) but she is learning that a ride in the car doesn't always mean a trip to other training we used before or to the vets. She wasn't fond of either place. We can visit dog parks and the pet store so her life is more fun with the kids. It's just short rides now but getting better all the time. She doesn't try to bite the vet either (a very good thing). She doesn't pull on our walks and bark at the other dogs (well sometimes she thinks about it but she takes the correction immediately). She sees trainer and gets so happy. It's like they have a special ESP. She minds her manners better for her but is getting better with us daily as we become better for her needs. It's like she finally understands that we are family and she is always safe so she trusts us. We have always loved her and now we can enjoy her so much more. Wish we had found Beverly sooner. read more
