Kim at A Hound's Haven is the best groomer I've ever had. Her storefront is conveniently located at Knapp's Corner. She has early drop off available and works extended hours some days. Her schedule books up really quickly- and that's a good sign for any groomer. People like her and her team at Hounds Haven. She has helped my dog recover from major skin and hair loss (alopecia) issues. She uses hypo allergenic shampoo and is really gentle with her. The CBD oil that Kim sells has benefited this dog along with the melatonin treatment I have her on. Owner is more tollerant with animals than she is with her customers! If you don't jump when she says to she'll cut you off from her business. I made ONE error in judgment (first time customer) and she said " YOU ARE NOT A GOOD FIT, GOODBYE). I'M GLAD I DON'T TREAT MY FIRST TIME CUSTOMERS THAT WAY. We took our dogs here and they received a bath, nail trimming, de-shedding and ear cleaning. The shop was very accommodating and my pets got in the same day I called. The service was very thorough and my dogs smelled way better than they ever had after any bath that I've given them! On top of it, the prices are reasonable and they had two cute collars around their neck when they left! I cannot wait to take them there next month, as this will be our place to take them! read more

Kim and Abby were so patient. My GPS took me the most difficult way anyone could ever come but when I came through the door, all was forgotten. I was greeted when I walked in, and it didn't smell like other places I have gone to. After signing paperwork and confirming shot records. We talked about what I would like for Sashabelle. Sashabelle is my little baby fluffy pom, I only wanted a bath and brush with a saniti-trim. When I picked her up she was soooooo cute. She looked like she was back in San Diego. I talked with Kim for a short time about Sasha and we talked about the difference between being groomed at a private shop and a big pet realtor. I agree the attention to detail, was on point. I have no doubt that there be a lengthy and aggressive response to my review. That is this business owners style, "I'm sorry but..... and then she slams you or your dog. This will range anywhere from you being late, to your dog suddenly being a biter, to "your intake paper's reflect this," to a sudden criticisms you knew ZERO about. Let me be clear, my dog always looked great after being groomed. However, let me also be clear, the owner is exceptionally rude, impatient, angry, and so very uninformed that she defends this behavior. After my last grooming session, I did a little research. This woman definitely has her followers.... people whom she has helped with their dogs skin conditions, etc. She seems quite knowledgeable, or at least portrays herself this way and people fall In line. My last experience was a series of misunderstandings and confusion. Between her mask, the noise level, her hyper and ridiculous excuses for her policies, which is really due to the fact that she is alone in the salon and cannot manage the dogs or clients alone, and her EXTREME impatience I left feeling like I had experienced rage from some stranger that chose to blame it on me and the dogs in her care. I wanted to sort it out at the pick up but she cut me off and quite frankly treated me like dirt. She then retaliated with the scary " biter" word. While I know my ten pound dog does not like to have her front paws worked on, she is not aggressive. Perhaps she nipped at the brush or scissors, but this was launched at me to scare me. Watch, her response to this.... I also discovered a long line of rude behavior and poor treatment of employees that extends well beyond my experience. The entire experience was so lousy that I actually did this to see what I was missing. BEWARE of this business. If she treats dogs like humans, she is abusive. Be prepared for random aggressive, out of turn comments, that she launches. It's too bad, because she seemed like a skilled groomer. A skilled groomer that needs someone decent and patient at the front desk, she may be struggling to keep up with the workload as well. So watch out. Her response will be "I'm sorry but....". She will push and pull, then slam you . Passive one moment, aggressive the next. It's an abusive, uninformed business owner that should be sanctioned. read more

She does a good job with my dog, but my god the way she treats her poor employees is absolutely horrific. She was screaming at her employees about grabbing her tools for a dog yelling "it's not rocket science" she also screams at her employees to FIGURE IT OUT! I truly felt bad for the other girl in the room... if she acts like that in front of people it makes me wonder if she has that short of a temper with my animal when I'm not there..... read more

I have taken my dog to A Hound's Haven for several years now. Kim does an excellent job and takes grooming very seriously. The first day I walked in, her hands were wrapped in gauze and bloody from an aggressive dog she groomed. I watched her handle a very difficult situation with the person picking up the dog very well, as the owner knew the dog was a biter but did not disclose this to Kim (confirmed by their previous groomer). This is not an easy job!! Kim expects you to be on time and asks many questions to be sure you will be happy. My dog is happy to go there and always looks great. She definitely cares about dogs and will take great care of your pet. read more

I was told about this place by a couple of people. Both said the same thing: good service, owner makes comments out of place. That was my experience as well. For the dog, you can only hope the experience Is positive. For you, well, be prepared for uncalled for comments. If you can tolerate that then this is your place. read more

I haven't been to many groomers but I think the pricing is reasonable, my dog is soft and clean, shedding and itching decrease. My dog has allergies and this helps. Been going here for about a year and haven't had any reason to go elsewhere. read more

I brought my Irish setter in for a general grooming. They knew exactly what I wanted and I could tell they had experience in grooming that type of coat. I was very pleased with the result! Once we met Kim and saw the level of professionalism and expertise, we knew we had found the right groomer. She takes extreme pride in her profession and provides good customer service. I appreciate her recommendations on how and how often we need to groom our dogs. She has also taken time to show us grooming techniques that we can use at home to better care for our pets. One Star is being generous! NEVER being to Hound Haven I had stopped in and wanted my dogs nails trimmed and I asked a couple of questions. First I asked if this place use to be Barking Beauty? She proceeded to tell me the insides were new but a different business. I then asked if it was a different owner and employees and told her the reason why. My ex had taken my sons dog there and they burned his little Giblets. This is the same Dog I have brought. I was told it couldhave been from hot clippers to put Neosporen on them and now they are scarred black. The woman at hound haven started raising her voice and arguing with me that it could have been a chemical burn ( The Dog was not there for a perm and why was his balls the only thing burned? Because I bet he let out one Hell of a YELP!) which led me to think that its the same owner of Barking Beauty! To me she showed her true colors so instead of arguing with her I left. She proceeded to follow me out into the lot and with attitude and F Bombs said, "This is my F**king livelihood!" and I told her not by that attitude and I would be afraid to bring my Dog here now that you might take your anger out on him. She brought out the cutest little black & white, fluffy puppy with her, Didn't know if it was to calm her down or she thought I was going to hit her. She asked me to let her do his toe nails a couple times and what stopped her bitching (I can only guess) was a customer coming to pick up her dog. I will not bring my Dog there ever and I would not let her pick up my Dog's Poo! read more
