Jackie, Luke and their team at Nature of the Dog immediately put my anxiety over a new kennel to rest. The whole team is incredible! Very professional and loving with the dogs. Sami jumps out of the car when we arrive and is totally exhausted when I pick her up. And............ as if best in class daycare/boarding care isn't enough, they have a wonderful Farm Store where I buy fantastic, professionally processed eggs, beef, and chicken.

2 stars. Before sending your pup here PLEASE read this…read morereview. My precious French Brittany went here for 8 years, occasionally when we went on vacation. He LOVED going. We would say "do you want to go to Jenny's?" And he would go NUTS. One weekend, he was there for one day when he was attacked by multiple dogs in her backyard. We were told it was a "scuffle". 3 days & a trip to MSU Animal Emergency Hospital later, he passed away from his injuries. I wish I could show the pictures, but I know they would get taken down. He went into septic shock & then went into cardiac arrest, he was only 9 years old & we loved him dearly. Like I said, he went there for 8 years, which is why I give 2 stars. He loved going & we always felt comfortable sending him there, up until it was his last time ever there. Just know before sending your pup here (unless it has changed) that the dogs outside are left unattended, with no cameras. We truly love Jenny & the care she offered, and in no way are we saying to never send your pet here, but PLEASE use discretion before sending them. I dont want this to happen to anyone else's beloved pet. The trauma of all of this that went down will truly haunt me forever. He looked HORRIBLE, his vet said that the attack went on well over 30 minutes. How no one heard it/saw it is beyond me. Unless things have changed & she has hired someone to be outside with them or something to help avoid this in the future, please just decide if your dog's life is worth it or not. Our dog was our entire world, until he wasn't because of human error. We have no doubt Jenny loved Copper & we truly have forgiven her. I know she loves what she does. I am wholeheartedly hoping she has changed procedures/protocols/etc. so this NEVER happens again at her home. We miss our sweet boy so incredibly much, over something that we recognize as an accident, however, it was completely avoidable. We know Jenny is as heartbroken as we are, and in no way am I blaming or accusing or anything of the like, or in no way do I want her to go out of business. Just please, please, please, decide if you want this to happen to your dog or not. We never thought it could happen to us until it did. Our sweet boy lost his life & we lost our best friend because no one was out there watching. The extent of his injuries was just horrible. He endured one surgery to get skin grafts before he passed away on February 8th, 2024. I think we will always be devastated, and the memory & images of his mauled body will never, ever leave us.

Their friendly team provides individualized care that is incomparable to other vets we have seen in the past. Our poor Molly is apparently afraid of white coats - and upon learning this, they updated her chart and so they can make sure staff are not wearing coats when she comes. Even though she needed bloodwork at our visit today, the staff gave her plenty of treats and attention (the one thing she values most of all) to the point where she did not want to leave. We are so grateful to have found a clinic that gives our pets the same love and care that we do.

Everyone we met was super nice and cared about finding the perfect family for the puppy, without being off putting. We brought our reactive 5 yr old dog for a meet and greet. First we had them on opposite sides of the fence on leash. Once that went well, we moved our dog inside the fence, still of leash. Once that went well, we took a short walk together. After that, we went back to an exam room(they are a vet too) and got them both drinks. We filled out the final paperwork and took him home. What set them apart were the things they gave us to make the transition easier for the puppy- dog bed from his foster and crate, balance of his bag of food so we can transition, toys, and starter doses of flea/tic/heartworm meds. Dr. Denny did prescribe gabapentin and prozac, but along with that she let me know that rehoming or "loving euthanasia" was always an option... This was very off putting, as my cat is healthy and has a loving home, she just has anxiety, which is treatable. I did call to provide feedback on how inappropriate this was, especially during a first visit... and to let the office know we wouldn't be returning, the receptionist was very kind. Maybe other vets at the office offer more empathy, but feel it's important to share this experience. btw! after one dose of the gabapentin my beloved cat is already so much more relaxed and out and about in our home!
