And they were 1) Uttapam and 2) Vegetable Manchurian (that came with three different sauces; one is more like a soup.) I must say that Indian food is one of my favorites my whole life although I'm not going to say that I am an expert in this regard. I guess I still don't know much about this cuisine enough where when I try something new (that I have never tried before), my humility speaks frankly as to if I know what is authentic and what is not. Oh boy, I didn't care for either of them today. Firstly, I ensured that I chose "mild" for both. And yet, both of them had a noticeable amount of hotness where I starting to fathom with difficulty as to how hot the grade of "hot" would be had I chosen it. I use to be able to handle spicy better than I can now but I'm simply not a fan of hot stuff anymore because I cannot accurately savor and taste anything if it's too hot (hope this makes sense to many!!) Or is this because of my age? Secondly, hotness/spiciness sometimes disguises as saltiness, too. Vegetable Manchurian tasted very salty as well where I feel like I will be super thirsty in 30 minutes or so. Goodness, I still want to believe that this restaurant has great food but if I decide to utilize this business in the future again, I will make sure to order something very ordinary. DELICIOUS and fairly priced food. Wonderful service! We will be back. My husband and I finally found a restaurant that has good thali (see picture). Thali came with a good portion of biryani! I also had the house specialty chicken curry- which was amazing. And some samosas, garlic naan, and chai tea. We got all this- and brought home leftovers- for 44.00! The restaurant is in an older building, and while it is showing its age, and maybe looks a little rough- it is very very clean. They also run some good specials and have an Indian bakery! So glad we found one of our new favorite Indian restaurants. Cannot beat it for the price! read more

Having not been to Hyderabad House in over two years I was excited to take a friend who is a vegetarian to enjoy all of their options. The lunch buffet is now only done on the weekends I believe so my friend and I were the only people in the restaurant. We ordered an appetizer, naan, one Lassi and two entrees. It was definitely more than we needed. I always forgot that the portions for Indian food are large and filling. All of the food was good and most dishes can be ordered with very little spice to hot with the exception of some items that have sauces with medium spice already. The service was just ok. When we asked for suggestions on the menu the waiter was not helpful. We also had to ask for boxes for our leftovers with literally no one else eating there. Pretty simple to take care of your only table. I hope to come back and get the loving feeling back for Hyderabad. read more

I posted a rave review about a place called Hyderabad House when I was visiting my corporate office in Madison, WI and one of my lovely fellow Yelp Elites (Hi, Mark!) clued me into the fact that it's a chain and that's there one right here in Denver! I've been to a well over a dozen Indian restaurants in Colorado and this is currently my favorite. You'll have to do some googling as none of the menu items have descriptions but it's worth doing. You're not going to encounter overly fast or friendly service but frankly, when the food is this good, that becomes a non-issue for me. The Biryani, which is their specialty, is the best I've had anywhere. I really love the fact that you can get naan instead of rice with their curries at no extra charge. read more

Definitely recommend the Tikka Masala and the butter chicken. The only bad thing is having to pay for drink refills because it's just a can. Amazing!! I'm surprised how tasty this place was. I live in Seattle and a lot of my friends are Indian. But we don't have decent Indian food in Seattle according to them. And also thanks to them, I have tried a ton of different Indian food. I can even name some of my favorite cuisines. Definitely north Indian, kabobs, Hyderabad biryani and Goan curries! Even have favorite South Indian dishes. Just don't give me butter chicken!! But this place! Omg mindblowing. I was nearby for an all day meeting and ordered doordash from this place. The delivery had some hiccups, it was supposed to be under 30 minutes but it took 55-65 minutes. I was not happy with that since I had another meeting in different part of town to run to. The food though! it was first of all lunch combo:$20 with delivery. But omg! SO much food. And it came with so many little dishes. Even a dessert: gulab Jam but I'm not big on that. The goat fry biryani: it's my first time having this and the meat was so tender. And so much meat. Chicken curry with curry leaf was super tasty. Even the chicken 65 was good while breaded and I'm not big on breaded. And there was some kind of daal. The biryani was delicious. I'm sad I didn't try this for a whole 2 weeks that I'm there. Good selection of items. I like their Chettinad and Madras chicken. Weekend specials are something to look out for. Price point is decent. They have worked on the interiors but the restroom needs an overhaul. That section still affects the overall ambiance. Service still needs work. I like they leave me alone while I enjoy my dining experience but the flip side is they are not checking in as frequently as needed. If there is one restaurant that I have visited more than 10 times in Denver, it is this South Indian place - Hyderabad house. There are many Indian restaurants in the neighborhood but I want to specify here that A South Indian restaurant is different from a North Indian one. If you are new to South Indian cuisine try to skip butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and naan which will open up endless options. I would suggest the below dishes to try here : 1. Dosa ($9) - ( A South Indian breakfast crepe which is savory with amazing dips. It is a mild dish) 2. Vijayawada chicken biryani ($13) serves 2 - ( it is spiced rice with boneless chicken. It is very commonly eaten in India) 3. Mutton sukka ($14) - very tender goat appetizer with spices and onions. A must try and my most favorite !!! 4. Spicy fish roast ($14) - Yummy fish appetizer with Indian spices. 5. Double ka meeta ($5) - Indian style bread pudding but can be extremely sweet ! They have enough parking space and offer takeout as well as and available with all delivery providers. I became a regular to this place because of their consistency! Their dishes are on point 9 out of 10 times. Their customer service is good but at times it gets really crowded ! When you go for a buffet I would suggest going by 12 pm so that you can have fresh food without much waiting in the line. This place gets crowded over the weekend/rush hours. Plenty of dining space inside. They have a lot of options in the menu. They also serve alcohol. We have tried a lot of entrees and mains (we were large group of 7). Most of the items were mediocre. Not the best indian food i have had. Most chicken entrees tasted the same. Their biryani was alright (a bit on the dry side for me). The server was quick and made sure we got the food and requests on time. We had to cancel an order at the end and our server helped manage it. Overall not a terrible place but dont have high expectations on biryani. You will be disappointed. read more

This is our third visit to Denver and Hyderabad House is the closet to our hotel,yet the Yelp Reviews always scared us from giving this place a chance. On our first visit, we were at the local Indian grocery store, and asked the shopkeeper for his recommendation, he had recommended Hyderabad House but again, one look at the Yelp reviews and we decided to get takeout from India's Castle instead which was such a disappointing experience. So yesterday, we decided to throw caution to the wind and decided to give Hyderabad House a chance. When we entered the restaurant, there were a few tables occupied and all the diners were of Indian origin. The takeout area was busy again with Indian patrons waiting to pick up their order. We were promptly seated and placed our order within a few minutes. We chose to order the tandoori platter, goat dum biryani, tandoori roti and tandoori naan. Our tandoori platter arrived sizzling to the table and with such delightful aroma. It tasted absolutely moist and delicious. We were served the tandoori platter as an appetizer but we prefer to eat it with roti and naan so we flagged down our server to bring our breads to the table which he promptly did. Next came the goat dum biryani. It came piled high in a bowl with generous serving of goat meat. The meat was tender and tasty and the biryani tasted authentically delicious. I only wish they were a little more generous with the raita and gravy for the size of biryani we received. We chose to get some chicken curry puffs as well as Black Forest cake and Chocolate Truffle cake with us to go. I am docking one star for the service or lack thereof as no one once came to our table to check on us after we received our food. We needed refills on water and after waiting a while, my husband went to the empty table and grabbed a bottle. We had to flag someone down to get our check as well as ask for to go containers. Hyderabad House makes a big splash in the DTC- even in a highly-saturated, super-tasty Indian environment. Just when I thought I couldn't handle another biryani spot, Hyderabad House makes a lasting impressing. Let's start with appetizers. They carry a chole batura- essentially chickpeas served with fry bread. I had a coworker gloat about the amazingness of this dish when her family would make it, and I was not disappointed when I finally tried it in person. It's listed as a breakfast (because that's the traditional way it's eaten), but it's savory and filling enough for any time. Okay, the biryani was bomb! We got the boneless chicken as well as the fried chicken. Both tasty in their own ways. I usually order mild, which means it's a medium-high hot. Very good- and it's served with two sauces. Finally, on our most recent visit, we tried the lunch combo. WOWSERS! Thanks Yelpers who photographed this dish. It did not disappoint! You get a choice of a biryani, and then a bit of everything- a chicken tikka masala, a curry, sauces, and dessert. SO good! I'll need to come back and try their pastries. ***ILLEGAL ACT*** ***VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW*** My wife have a Disability, and she have a doctor required Small Service Dog. People working on this restaurant denied us entry at this restaurant because we have a Service Animal. Unlawful act as per American Disability Act. I told them you know right it's a Crime and Illegal not to allow a federally recognized Service Animal as per American Disability Act. And on top we have paperwork. Then the person tells me our space is small that's why Owner told us not to allow SERVICE ANIMALS. Can you imagine what a illegal act it could be? If Big Franchises like McDonald or Pizza Hut would have done it, they would have easy get sued very badly. There is no reason to admit a service animal as per law. Even though we have paperwork, ADA states clearly they can't ask for any paperwork or proof. Only thing I will give them thumbs up is their food, it's good. read more

I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner. The quality and flavor of the food is quite awesome and delicious. They have an extensive menu, and they also offer a Thali option for those who can't decide and would like an unending variety sample instead. This is a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, so its great for anyone who likes either of these choices. They also have vegan and gluten free options for those who are extra sensitive. This restaurant has a wide range of desserts not commonly found too, and also some extremely delicious "puffs" which are similar in filling to a samosa kind of mix but in a delicious and delicate puff pastry. SUPER tasty. Both times I went, I chose the Thali option. The flavor and the portions are fabulous, just really authentically spiced food. My worst experiences in Indian cuisine has always been overly spiced perfume aisle food that is just ruined with the way its flavored - and not in any of the food did I experience this here. They really have a wonderful back of the house staff who knows how to cook. The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars, is the service. Though extremely kind and definitely present in the same area, the food takes longer than I prefer, and you really are waiting a long time without checking in from anyone. Its typical in an indian restaurant to face this, but it is nevertheless an inconvenience to deal with if you are on any kind of time rush. Again though, extremely kind people. RULE OF THE DAY : COME EARLY... since certain items in their MENU will RAN OUT! Went here for a LATE DINNER @ almost 21:00hrs. I ordered the Dosa, and Dum Goat Biryani. While Hubs opt to have Goat Curry. My order of Dosa and Hubs order of Goat Curry came out first. After finishing my Dosa and Hubs finished his Dinner, then the Biryani order came out. But the Staff gave me the Goat Fry Biryani instead. They should have told me they RAN OUT of Dum Goat Biryani first instead making me wait for a bit. They apologized and comp the Biryani which they ran out and gave me the Goat Fry Biryani instead, which I don't want but since I am still hungry after eating the Dosa, I just took a bite. The flavors of the Goat Fry Biryani, is was just OK. Nothing stood out. After that, I lost my appetite. I came here all across town in the snow, and they ran out of their Goat Dum Biryani. *MEGA SIGH* They will have a PROPER MENU by Monday of December 19th 2016. Hopefully by then, they will sort out their kinks out and I may return to make sure I try their Goat Dum Biryani and perhaps by then, my review might differ. FAST FORWARD later on SUNDAY April 16th 2017 for a 12PM LUNCH. I invite my friends for Lunch here through our meetup group. Some of my friends opt for the LUNCH Thali. It has 2 options, the MEAT OPTIONS and the VEGETARIAN OPTIONS From what I recall and my friends who opt for the MEAT Option THALI : The Thali included were : * Appetizers : Fish Fry & Chicken 65. My friend likes the fish fry way better and its her favorite compared to the Chicken 65. The Chicken 65 was a "little boring". * The MAIN Entrees of a "scoop" : Mutton curry and Chicken curry. The brown sauce with the mutton was very good and tasty - a few too many bones for a North American but she liked it a lot. * The Rice has nice flavor with spices. * The dessert were : rice pudding and gajar halwa aka CARROT Halwa. The Carrot Halwa was very tasty. She prefers her rice pudding a little thicker but in this case its too diluted on what they serve, though it has good flavors of cardamom. Personally for me, I opt to order the Karaikudi Goat ($12.99) and Goat Dum Biryani ($13.99). For my order of Goat Dum Biryani, I requested to make it SOUTH INDIAN SPICY, it came SPICY the way I like SPICY but the flavor depth of the Goat Dum Biryani DID NOT WOW me as much as I was hoping for. Other than that, they give ALOT OF BONES than the GOAT MEAT itself. A little disheartening even though cooking with BONES gives flavors. But for this instance, the GOAT DUM BIRYANI was a little let down for me. NOW for the Karaikudi Goat dish, I think I might have this dish at some other establishments. The taste was just OK. Once again, this dish CONTAINS MORE BONES rather than the meat itself. I felt like they "cheat" aka "skimp" aka "stingy", us the patrons, by giving more "BONES", rather than the Quality meat. I don't mind paying more, but who wants to eat ALL BONES... *DOUBLE MAJOR SIGH* My friend who sat on my right, she opt to order a Main Entrée of Paneer Butter Masala. This dish contains very little Homemade Cheese Cubes, and ALOT OF "Gravy". She expressed that this dish should not be a MAIN Entrée but instead it works well for an appetizer instead. She also ordered the Naan and Dosa. All the dishes she ordered she said it was OK. It is NOT MIND Blowing and Does NOT WOW her as much too. Another friend who sat on my left, he ordered the Chilli Idly ($8.49) for appetizer and his Main Entrée was Goat Vindaloo ($12.99). He likes what he had. Another friend at the table was disappointed with her MAIN Entrée dish. It was Gutthi Vankaya Curry ($10.49). It was stuffed eggplant/brinjal curry in traditional Andhra style. Even when I taste it, it was just BLAND. The Payment System. If you use your CREDIT CARD, you can use their "POS" aka "TABLET", but if you use CASH like me, I have to go to the MAIN COUNTER where I have to wait in line, just to make the payment. YES, they are SUPER BUSY when we finished our Lunch. Furthermore, by 13:30hrs ish, this establishment is PACKED TO THE BRIM. Other than that, while we were there, they DO NOT SWITCH ON the AC. It felt "stuffy" inside. YES, this establishment is a CHAIN across the USA soil such as in DE, IL, IN, MD, MO, NC, TN, WA and TX to name a few. There are more "branches" in TX itself. Maybe its a franchise of some sort. I wonder if the QUALITY is the same or not?? *Hint Hint* to my friends who live in TX, maybe they email me their thoughts?? So inconclusion, Hyderabad House Biryani Place ONLY received 2.5 stars as "GENEROUS Review" in my books. YES, they offer Biryani, Dosa and other dishes I like. Wow! This is the best Indian food I have had in a while. I have never had Podi Idli but I could not get enough. it reminds me of dhokla, which I have had. The curry leaf chicken was spicy and very moist, a perfect acccompaniment to the chewy onion kulchas. I am impressed with the savory, complex spice. Way better than any other Indian food in the area. Hyderabad House is so delicious. I first tried them back in May and have ordered takeout from then fairly often since then. They have so many amazing dishes to choose from but I keep coming back to my favorites: biryani and masala dosas. I love that they have vegetarian versions of the more traditional dishes as well. Lastly, they serve so much food even for a regular sized order that it last me several meals, which I actually really love because it's great bang for the buck but also I am a sucker for Indian food leftovers. Perfect for next day lunches or whenever. My only complaint is that sometimes when I order the makhani or butter sauce paneer, it's sometimes really creamy and sometimes not creamy at all and too oily. I love makhani sauce so I get this dish often. I am unsure why it seems to change in creaminess with every order. I'll still eat it though. read more
